  1. FYI, Black Friday special at HK site is 30% off with free shipping over $50.
  2. Geissele’s sale is live on their website, but I’m tempted to wait and see if Brownells’ prices are any better tomorrow morning.
  3. I think I paid $11 each or something like that for my Hexmags. When you consider shipping, I’m not sure if it’s even worth sending in for warranty for one finicky mag. I’ll probably continue to use them at the range, so if the others start giving me issues I’ll send them in. I’m hoping it’s just this one though.
  4. I should have added that you should be good to go on the Spike’s lower you posted, as it is not banned by name. My comment was just regarding “a lower is a lower”. The full auto thing shouldn’t be an issue since the switch wouldn’t even go to that position anyway. Purely cosmetic. Of course, this is subject to change, and they do like to ban cosmetic features...
  5. I’m not so sure about that. I was under the impression that a Colt lower labeled “AR-15” is a no go in NJ, because it is specifically banned by name in the law (NJSA 2C:39-1).
  6. I was loading the mag with the bolt open. Also, I had shot 3 or 4 full magazines with it yesterday before it starting doing this. The other Hexmag I had with me at the range was fine. Today, I tried loading it to 15 with 3 brands of ammo, and the same issue.
  7. I had a Hexmag shit the bed yesterday at the range. 14 rounds went in fine, but the 15th needed a little extra push. When I finally got that last round in, it swelled the magazine's width to the point it wouldn't fit into the magwell. I took it apart and cleaned it, and still the same. Still able to use it with 14 rounds, but what's the fun in that? On the plus side, I got to run some new Mission First Tactical mags and they didn't give me any issue at all. I think I'll pick up a few more of those. I just wish they could come apart for cleaning...damn New Jersey.
  8. It seems that way for every package that I get. Every package I’ve gotten in the past few years has showed signature required when I tracked it with FedEx or UPS, but the drivers almost never ring my doorbell. I believe that the last time they rang my doorbell was a set of tires from TireRack.
  9. I’m sure there’s plenty, but the last nail in the coffin seems to be Alex’s Facebook expose the day before NJSAFE Conference. Alex basically accused NRA/ANJRPC of collusion with certain other ranges (mainly GFH if you read between the lines) to squash the Ramsey range for business reasons. I’m honestly surprised that I haven’t read of a pending defamation suit against Alex. I certainly didn’t see any proof to back what he wrote. As for magazines...attempting to compromise probably won’t work, since they hold all of the power at the state level. Maybe it’s time for NRA/ANJRPC/SAF/every other 2A organization to ready a legal team to sue the state into oblivion?
  10. Looks to be FedEx home, which sounds like that’s my problem. I didn’t opt for it, it’s whatever Brownells chose for free shipping. Maybe I’ll try to avoid it going forward.
  11. Seems that FedEx won’t allow me to have it held anywhere, including a FedEx hub. If it wasn’t scheduled to be delivered on Halloween...simply too much foot traffic for my liking.
  12. I'm assuming that a "FedEx Hub" is the same as what FedEx calls a "FedEx Ship Center" on their website? Maybe I'll just go direct and work from home the day it's due back.
  13. I’ve bought ammo online before, but this shipment is shipping FedEx instead of UPS. FedEx usually gets to my house in the morning or early afternoon, while UPS usually delivers after I get home from work. I believe that I could digitally authorize the release, but needless to say, I don’t want a case of ammo sitting outside all day. Is there any issue with having FedEx hold the package at one of their drop points (such as a Walgreens)? It’s handgun ammo if that makes a difference.
  14. No need to go through an ffl if it is going to and from the manufacturer. Nice to know that the NJSP doesn't even know what to do! If my memory serves me correctly, they were OK with shipping it in state, but since it's going out of state, an FFL was required.
  15. It sounds like you didn’t ship through an FFL? When I called NJSP they said I had to ship through an FFL, but when I called Sig they said there was no need. I’ll probably ship through an FFL simply because I probably won’t be home when FedEx delivers. Good to hear about the turn around time. I got my FedEx label the other day. I have to admit that I’m going to miss my P320. The more I shoot it the more I like it.
  16. A pit bull like NJ2AS could be a great ally to NRA/ANJRPC, but I'm pretty sure that any possibility of them working together went up in flames last month when Roubian published his Ramsey range exposé on Facebook the night before NJ SAFE Conference.
  17. What a surprise, more Alexander Roubian nonsense. I like some of their results when they're targeting the right people (anti pols), but Whisky Tango Foxtrot? Just because NRA/ANJRPC's tactics don't appear to be doing much now doesn't mean that they're working against us. Attack on multiple fronts, it isn't that hard to understand...
  18. If we ban bump stocks, where does it end? People have been toying with and manipulating semi auto rifles to increase rate of fire from the day they were invented. What about non stock triggers with lower pull forces? What about stock triggers with low pull forces? Where do we draw the line? I 100% disagree with the NRA on this. I believe they’re doing this for the “big picture” which includes national reciprocity, but it sets us up for so many other bans that they probably haven’t even thought of. Murder is already illegal, with some very stern penalties, yet people still do it anyway. Taking things away from law abiding citizens won’t prevent the next atrocity. Evil will do evil deeds. It’s as simple as that.
  19. As much as I appreciate some of the wins that NJ2AS has gotten, I have no intention of renewing my membership after this. I don't see how attacking NRA/ANJRPC will accomplish anything positive.
  20. I can't believe I glossed over that! Having a bunch of people apply and get denied may be just what we need to expose it for what it is. I guess my mind is conditioned to "no carry in NJ".
  21. This was my first time at NJ SAFE, and overall I thought it was good (thanks John!). I can't speak for my brother or father, but there's a good chance I'll attend next year's event (assuming there will be one, of course). Some breakdown of each main section: The NRA Marksmanship program will give me something new to do at the range. I'm not sure why I didn't already know about this, but I guess I can't know everything. It was great to hear from DSG Bloom and how they are working to improve the FID/P2P system. It would be wonderful if they can eliminate or minimize the township/barracks involvement with an online system. It might actually be less of a pain! The community building discussion panel was interesting, but I wish there was a bit more of it. As much as I liked hearing everyone's intros, some took quite a bit longer than others and it didn't leave enough time to hear from the panel. Facing threats to our freedom, property, and identity was okay. It started off good with April's section, but after that it kind of felt like commercials. Of course, when you figure how much an event like this costs to put on vs entry fees, we should expect some of that. Admittedly though, I was getting hungry at this point, so my opinion may have been skewed by constantly wondering "what's for lunch?". Hearing from NRA lobbyist Darin Goens was good. It's nice to know that my emails to our legislature actually do something. Maybe the NRA/ANJRPC should periodically have us send mass emails to the legislature and shut down their server to remind them we exist? It sounded like Schmutter could have gone on for quite some time. This was good for me, as someone who wants carry, but might have been over a newer person's head. I could sense my brother and father kind of getting antsy. The election discussion panel was interesting, but quickly devolved into putting Scott on the stand about the Ramsey range. While I can see how people would side with NJ2AS on this issue (they are making headlines and "getting stuff done"), Scott's answer left me with the impression that NRA and ANJRPC are playing chess, while NJ2AS is playing checkers. Also, it was a little awkward having the Libertarian candidate there, when we all know our best chance to stop Murphy, like it or not, is with Kim. I enjoyed Cam's keynote. Admittedly, Virginia is/was one of the places I have been looking to relocate to, and now I'm questioning whether it should be on the short list or not. Evan Nappen is pretty much always great, and he didn't disappoint.
  22. Seems that I managed to get my dad and brother to sign up. Neither are gun owners, but are anything but antis. I think in most other states they'd own, but I'm hoping this will spur them both on to finally go get their FIDs.
  23. Well that's a buzzkill. The whole point of the lower is so that I can build it. Guess I'll see if one of the local shops have any Labor Day deals on stripped lowers. Thanks for the heads up.
  24. I did a quick search but didn't find what I was hoping for. Does Delaware charge for NICS checks? I will most likely be passing by the DE Cabelas next week, and figured if DE doesn't charge for a NICS check, I could save a few bucks on an AR lower that way. FYI, I would hit it on my way north, since I'm not taking any chances in Maryland.
