  1. I get that all politicians are liars, but there are occasions where I'm kind of stunned when one of them is so brazen about their BS. Case in point, Beto O'Rourke. He's most famous for failing to win any elected office of importance and for making himself the but of jokes on both sides of the political aisle, but he refuses to give up. He's now running for Governor of Texas. You'd think his stance on gun confiscation would be a big barrier in a state like Texas, particularly when he was so definitive about it during the Presidential debates: “Hell, yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47.” Beto - 2019 Astonishingly, he seems to have a different stance now. Not nuanced, not slightly different...but a total reversal. When asked about his confiscation comments from 2019, Beto said: “I’m not interested in taking anything from anyone. What I want to make sure that we do is defend the Second Amendment” Beto - 2022 Yup, he's now a 2nd Amendment champion???? I get that he’s a political zero, but how the fuck could he make such a drastic and abrupt turnaround and think ANYONE would buy it?? Hell, he even contradicts himself in the SAME breath when he (lies) says he wants to defend the 2nd Amendment, but lies and BASHES Abbot for passing permitless carry!!! “I’m not interested in taking anything from anyone. What I want to make sure that we do is defend the Second Amendment,” he said. “I want to make sure that we protect our fellow Texans far better than we’re doing right now. And that we listen to law enforcement, which Greg Abbott refused to do. He turned his back on them when he signed that permitless carry bill that endangers the lives of law enforcement in a state that’s seen more cops and sheriff’s deputies gunned down than in any other.” Dude is a pathological liar… https://www.foxnews.com/politics/beto-says-he-isnt-interested-taking-anything-from-anyone-defend-second-amendment
  2. I went to their shopping cart and they only accept payment transfers, no credit cards or PayPal. That should stop some people who don't realize it's a scam.
  3. Oh, there's no rush. Just update this thread when you get to it. My son made me a "quick and dirty" version before he went back to school, so I have one that's functional (but wiggly) so I can wait. Besides, if i try to print a job without him here I'll just make spiderwebs...
  4. Thanks for sharing. What's the file name on Tingiverse? The file attachments in your post are not available.
  5. Nope, didn't say that. That's your dramatic side talking. I said "...I have no desire to become an expert in the nuances of NJ gun laws. If there's any ambiguity in my mind, I partner with a trusted source." Very different things. I'm aware of, and abide by the man/confusing laws in this state. Whenever there is ambiguity (which carries with it the potential for significant loss on my part) I partner with professionals. Twist that in any way you want, but to me it's sound advice for people to follow. We're both gun owners in NJ, both participate in a forum with gun owners, yet you need to throw shade towards me because I take a more conservative approach than you do. Carry on.
  6. There you are not not being dramatic again. I'll absolutely continue to recommend that people default to working through a trusted NJ FFL for firearms related transfers and purchases. My go-to local guy as well as Steve and JT here have always been solid with their recommendations. The result hasn't always been a transfer through one of them, but even if it was 100% of the time I wouldn't care. I'll trust the outcome I get with them over guidance of nameless/faceless people on internet forums. I contribute to ANJRPC, NRA and GOA in hopes that they can come out on top in the many lawsuits they pursue, but I have no desire to become an expert in the nuances of NJ gun laws. If there's any ambiguity in my mind, I partner with a trusted source. No idea why you think that makes me someone who provides relaxation and comfort to people who write crazy gun laws, but that's OK. You do you, I'll do me.
  7. Great. I tend to be less dramatic and more practical about things, but you do what's right for you and your family.
  8. Not sure why I made you sad, but OK. I err on the side of caution if there is any ambiguity in a firearms related matter because I have no desire to be a poster-boy for all of the ills of NJ legislation. All it takes is one overzealous idiot in a police department or prosecutors office to turn a simple transaction into a long, costly nightmare. I'm also a guy who gets permits when having work done on my house even when a contractor says he'll be "in and out before the inspector even knows work is being done".
  9. This would be my default for most things as well. My local FFL doesn't charge much for transfers, so I just use him.
  10. Agree. For me there was a progression that went something like hitting the broad side of a barn, to getting groups on target, to calling shots, and then to speeding things up. Getting into action shooting matches helped to reinforce the fact that accuracy and control were more important that speed. I have no desire to shoot as fast as the guys in the video, but I still practice to shoot to be able to shoot "fast" when needed for competition.
  11. I always enjoy watching people in action who are REALLY good at something. In this case, it's a guy who obviously has put many thousands of rounds downrange. I can't imagine what the cost of ammo would be for me to get near his level, so i'll stick with my slow and steady pace. Also VERY funny @ the 10:40 mark when Mojo runs out of pistol ammo and grabs the other guy's Sig mag...even though he's shooting a Glock:
  12. I was there and I'd agree that your staff did an exceptional job. They made it clear that this was the FIRST time a GSSF event was being run, so they put ego aside and asked for support/advice from the experienced GSSF guys. There were a couple of GSSF gurus present who were willing to help out, so it was a very collaborative experience for everyone. Shooting, scoring, rotation in and out of the ports, etc was smoothly executed and the RO's and support guys in the shooting bays were great. GFH staff in the lobby/waiting area were interactive and chatted with the people who were waiting. Thanks again for holding these events!
  13. My order from Evike was dropped off by UPS today, so I can recommend them for anyone interested in Airsoft. They had a VERY good selection of guns and accessories on their site and they offered free shipping for orders over $99. I was JUST at that with with the pistol, CO2 (on sale), ammo (on clearance), and an extra magazine. I won't get to play for a while but I shot a couple of magazines and I think this will be a great addition to my 'dry fire' practice. I have a couple of 5 gallon buckets with old towels that I use as target backers so as long as my aim is good the bb's will be captured in the buckets.
  14. Thanks for sharing that. I've make the drive to Cabela's every now and then when I'm bored, so maybe I'll check Sportsman's out next time instead...
  15. Glad to hear that you have others to shoot. When my kids are out of college (eventually...hopefully...) I'm planning on getting a Garand, Mauser, and Mosin to hang on the wall in my office. I'll obviously have others that I bring to the range to shoot, but I like the nostalgia factor of having non shooting/collectable ones as well.
  16. Sweet! Where did you find it? Do you plan on shooting it or is it for collection/restoration?
  17. Article from same author on his 15.5" tactical bolt rifle build: https://rifleshooter.com/2013/11/super-short-precision-rifles-a-16-5-308-tactical-bolt-action-rifle/
  18. Here's an article where the author tested .308 velocity on different barrel lengths as he CHOPPED his barrel from 28" down to 16.5"!!!! https://rifleshooter.com/2014/12/308-winchester-7-62x51mm-nato-barrel-length-versus-velocity-28-to-16-5/ So if you're shooting 168 gr bullets from an 18" barrel you're still floating around 2500 fps. Not going to get you out to 1000 yards, but not going to limit you to 200 either...
  19. About 3 years ago I did a budget .308 bolt rifle build. MUCH easier than the AR build I completed a couple of months ago. Howa 24" .308 Heavy Barrel Action from Brownells B&C Varmint stock Athlon scope Knock-off Harris-style stock I took my time assembling, but everything went together very well. The only challenge i found was that the travel of the bolt was sluggish when I had everything bedded/torqued in to the stock. I took everything apart and put it back together a few times and realized that the channel in the stock behind the bolt wasn't quite deep enough, so the bolt was rubbing against it. This meant the line of travel wasn't straight and there was friction against the metal frame. I used a light tough with my dremmel tool to make the channel big enough for the bolt, and the action is smooth as silk. Before: After:
  20. Thanks Digz. Your perspective has repeatedly and abundantly been made clear. I just placed an order, so I'll update when/if something is delivered!
  21. FYI, there's an Airsoft shop in Totowa NJ which has a good inventory of pistols, rifles, accessories, etc. https://totowaairsoft.com/ It's half Army/Navy kind of store and half Airsoft. It's local to me, so I stopped in and the young guy behind the counter was VERY nice and helpful. I introduced myself as a noob and talked about what he had in stock, my needs, etc. I think the guns they have are more than I really need ($150 and up), but if I do get a gun somewhere I'll try to support them and go there for ammo, gas/CO2, and other supplies.
  22. Soooo...don't do stupid things with an airsoft gun?
  23. You can be charged with anything, but it doesn't mean you're guilty of it. In the case you're referencing the actor was charged with a list of things but ultimately a plea was reached : "Goias pleaded guilty to creating a false public alarm, a charge stemming from the reaction of residents who thought the image of Goias leaning out a car driving down the street firing a gun was real and called police." https://www.mycentraljersey.com/story/news/crime/jersey-mayhem/2016/07/20/actor-pleads-creating-public-alarm-gun-woodbridge-film-scene/87354984/
