  1. I get that Nappan says the sky is falling in this issue, but it's a piece of paper that's required to meet an administrative need. If you're an instructor and you sign it and submit it to your PD I can't imagine why that wouldn't be sufficient.
  2. There was practice holster draw with an empty gun. No kneeling. No kneeling.
  3. I took the qual class at Shooters recently just to cover myself. Class was instructed by a State Trooper who said he was responsible for much of what was officially published on the NJSP website (including the automation of the CCW application process). Use of force portion was very well done IMO. Drawing from holster was not required. There was some one-handed shooting, simulated failure to fire, mandatory reloads, and shooting from 5 - 25 yards.
  4. They're already backpedaling: Day late and a dollar short. I'll never buy or recommend their products...
  5. I was just using the ability of a teenager jailbreaking as an example that technology like iPhones are historically not bullet proof. I find it beyond reason to believe that Apple did/does not have the ability to get into ANY iPhone they want. I cannot prove that, but I've worked with enough people in technology roles to know that people who create technology always have ways to back-door their way in. I'll create another thread if you'd like to debate the Apple scenario (or we can PM). As for Liberty they will not be getting any of my business.
  6. Yeah, that was their corporate statement. My neighbors 17 year-old kid jailbreaks old iPhones for fun, so you have to weigh the corporate statement for what it is...
  7. Apple refused a request to break into an individual phone. The Fed's went back and forth many times, asking first for the ability to do it themselves to sending the pone to Apple to have them do it. Apple refused. Liberty Safes did nothing to "earn themselves a prosecution". They have a corporate policy that states they will roll over to any request that accompanies a warrant. That policy was not built out of a court decision/challenge, it's just what they have in place. Liberty can do whatever they feel is in their best interest. I will never purchase one of their products.
  8. I think it's funny that a woke corporation like Apple refused to provide Fed's a backdoor to their product when Fed's asked, but Liberty Safes quickly/easily gives out the code to their safes: Liberty Safe Confirms They Gave Feds Access Code to Gun Safe During Raid on January 6 Protester Liberty Safe, "America's #1 heavy-duty home and gun safe manufacturer," according to their website, issued a statement late Tuesday night confirming that they'd given the FBI an access code to a customer's gun safe in response to a request on August 30, 2023. https://redstate.com/jenvanlaar/2023/09/06/liberty-safe-caved-gave-fbi-access-code-january-6-n2163468 The statement from Liberty: " On August 30, 2023, Liberty Safe was contacted by the FBI requesting the access code to the safe of an individual for whom they had a warrant to search their property. Our company protocol is to provide access codes to law enforcement if a warrant grants them access to a property. After receiving the request, we received proof of the valid warrant, and only then did we provide them with an access code. Liberty Safe had no knowledge of any of the details surrounding the investigation at the time. Liberty Safe is devoted to protecting the personal property and 2nd amendment rights of our customers and has repeatedly denied requests for access codes without a warrant in the past. We do not give out combinations without proper legal documentation being provided by authorities. We regularly update our policies to ensure both compliance with federal and state law and reasonable consumer privacy protections within the law. First and foremost, Liberty Safe is committed to preserving our customers’ rights, and we will remain unwavering in those values." I won't be purchasing their products.
  9. Yeah, whenever I'm on a road trip I stop and check out prices an reloading supplies. Along the Rt 95 corridor between NJ and Florida I think Springhill Outfitters has the best supply and prices on firearms related stuff. https://springhilloutfitters.com/ Easy on/off the highway and very friendly staff. They have giant billboards for several miles in each directions advertising their exit and "Guns, Ammo, & Freedom"...
  10. It's good to see the primer prices (SLOWLY) coming down. Midsouth regularly runs either free Hazmat or free shipping on primers/powders, so I typically wait until then to order.
  11. Indeed. When contacting the court (as directed by the order) to add additional guns they have directed me to the local PD. I expressed concern to the court that they were not allowing me to follow the direction of their order, but they advised that they were 'out of it' and directed me to local PD. Local PD directs me to the form. If the court isn't concerned about it and my POD isn't concerned about it, neither am I. I'm done walking on eggshells. I've paid plenty and have followed all of the laws.
  12. I think there's zero chance it becomes an issue. The law and the form for additional guns are explicit that "One permit shall be sufficient for all handguns..." I appreciate that retired LEO may currently have a different standard, but for those of us who are not, there's little ambiguity.
  13. Yeah, it's an interesting conundrum. Court order limits you to pistols on the app AND provides instructions for adding additional guns. Unfortunately the court refuses to abide by those instructions and states that they're 'out of it' and they refer all permit related issues to local PD. Local PD will not re-issue permits and require the full process again (including all costs associated) if you want a new one. The law says one permit covers all guns, and the new form from NJSP is specific to additional handguns for permits, so that's what i delivered to my PD. My PD accepted it as such. In the unlikely event that I'm questioned about it I'll let the chips fall where they may.
  14. Handed the form in today. I saw the records clerk and told her what I had. She said, "Oh yes, I'll put it in with your other information. Thanks." Took about 30 seconds.
  15. I hope the author gets the video: 'I’m seeking the bodycam and dashcam videos and audio from officer Weg and the other responding officer(s), ten minutes prior to Joe getting pulled over and through the encounter. According to Joe, Officer Weg responded to the scene as did two other officers. Only one other officer got out of their car. According to my request, the OPRA office said that, “We have reviewed your request and 2 police officers were present on scene with a total of 4 videos consisting of 51 minutes of video.”
  16. Where did you you hear that? I've not seen an update from ANJRPC or NJSP. So far GFH and Shooters have said their quals are good to go, so if you went there you should be fine. If you went somewhere else you may want to contact them.
  17. There are a lot of people (myself included) who received early permits from the court where we were limited to the guns listed on a court order (to be carried with the permit). This form is the way for us to carry more than what's in the court order (since the courts now refuse to amend the order because ccw is now 'responsibility of the local PD).
  18. Yeah, no shipping or hazmat made it an easy decision. Any time I stop somewhere with powder/primers at a reasonable prices I grab something.
  19. On a road trip with family and I was pleasantly surprised to see a shelf full of primers in a gun shop. Grabbed a box of the Winchester spp for $80 just because...
  20. Talked to a guy from my local range and he said he mailed one to his PD so I'll follow up if he gets any feedback from them.
  21. For anyone who received an early permit with a court order limiting you to the pistol(s) on your permit, has anyone filled out and submitted the new form for 'additional handguns': https://www.nj.gov/njsp/firearms/pdf/sp-182a_PTC_Additional_Handguns_Intended_to_be_Carried.pdf I'll wait to see if there are any changes that come from the upcoming court sessions, but I'm planning to hand it in to my PD along with my qual sheet before the October deadline (presuming that doesn't change).
  22. Thanks! I'm looking forward to trying it out.
