  1. Ibejiheads coated bullets. Not sure about 9mm but just ordered 45 at .105 cents. 3 cents for primers and rule of thumb is 1 cent for powder. Brass of course is range brass or old ammo...... free.

Check out Everglades Ammo. Thats where I usually buy my plated bullets. But they raised their prices recently and am trying coated for the first time. Quite a few people at the club use Ibejiheads so figure ill try them out.

  2.  Prices have gone up a little on components right now, but like buying ammo you have to stock up when you find good deals.

As of last week it’s costing me .11 cents for 9mm and .15 for 45ACP.  That’s using coated bullets. Normally I use plated bullets. I’ve loaded 9 as cheap as 9 cents.

I enjoy reloading for the technical/ tinkering side of it. The time I get to be in my own zone. Also reloading lets me load to my liking, big difference in factory loads when shooting matches. Depending on how much you shoot, It can save you money and the press will pay for itself over time.

I actually recently completed my first lower, and besides and armorers wrench (which you can get cheap) and a 15 minute YouTube video..I didn't need anything "special". It's extremely intimidating when you haven't done it before. After completing my first one I could confidently do it again without the video. There's a couple tricky parts and a detent and spring may fly across the room, but besides that it's pretty straight forward. Don't let it scare ya.

Also to add, always have an easily lost or broken parts kit or two around. Ya know in case....they're like $6 each...

^^^^^  This.^^^^^^.  I build my first AR last year, can’t wait to do the next one.

Hi. I'm very new to the scene and learning a lot by reading up these forums.

My application for FID and P2Ps just got approved and I'm waiting for my local PD to tell me that the documents are ready for pickup. I think the email or phone call can come any day now. My question is what am I supposed to do with a new gun once I bought it? Can I start shooting it straight out of the box without doing anything to it first? Or am I supposed to inspect it and/or lube certain places before I can shoot it?  Is there a break-in period for a new gun? If so, how long is it and what am I supposed to do to break it in?

I would definitely say depends on what your getting. 2 of my 1911’s have totally different ways of breaking them in per the manufacturer. Did you decide on what your getting?

I called the officer 2 weeks ago and nothing back

My first go around 2 years ago with Hamilton State police was interesting. Filled January 4th. I called after 30 days and whomever I spoke to said permit wasn’t  in. I called back 30 days later, told still not in. Called a third time with same answer. Fourth time after 90 days was told it was there and has been since February 5th. Permit was expired and I would have to file for extension. When I went to pick it up I spoke with the trooper and told him I called several times, he had no answer to why I was told they weren’t in but showed me the date written on the envelope when they called, with my number, and that they left a voicemail. Only problem was that they replaced the last 4 digits of my phone number with my social security number. So I’m not sure who they called. All I got from him was an OOPS with a shoulder shrug.

FARS worked out great for me this time. 28 days and I could see where things were at.  If you call them again always get the name of the person you spoke with and write it down for records. The next time after that  I ended up asking for the person in charge of permits and they would alway transfer my call.  It took just under 2 months. I think the guy answering the phone either doesn’t know or doesn’t care.

Those signs you see all over, on the sides of highways, the going out of business sale, I buy junk cars, political signs etc., they are made of coroplast, and make great target stands, especially if you hunt small game.

I second using those signs. I would just staple my target to the coroplast. It was always windy when I shot R14 and those signs would just wave nicely. I went through the trouble of making a pvc target stand, one day got it all set up just to have it blow over once the range went hot. Had to wait 20 minutes for the cease fire.  While waiting looked over to the guy next to me with his targets all set up on those wire based signs and that was all it took.

Dang!  ID on the barrel nut is what, 1.182"?  So it would just clear if you took 0.018" off the comp OD?  Or, opened the ID of your barrel nut 0.018"?  0.009" off the thread height.

Not enough meat on it to this. I like your thinking though.

It's a 9mm carbine so blowback and no gas port. The comp is 1.2" in diameter. It's a linear comp too. And on a 9mm. So it racks up a stupid trifecta and wins and places for being useless.

    Yep.
