  1. Green eggs and ham was a joke......I thought. It's a Dr. Seuss line from one of the children's books. Never mind, I can hear everyone groaning from South Jersey.
  2. Strange how this topic came up today. I was doing some cleaning yesterday and came across two C-rations of "Ham and Eggs" from 1983 when I was in basic training. I opened one and tried it, it tasted fine. And no, the eggs weren't green.
  3. 3 - 4 Sep 16 hour class held at Free State gun range in Middle River. The qualification was done on the 4th, 25 rounds at a distance between 3 and 15 yards. Shooting intervals were 5 rounds all at once, or intervals of 2 and 3 rounds for a total of 5. 19 Sep Electronic Fingerprints completed. The clock starts. 15 Oct Completed the application online. Received a confirmation e-mail indicating the system has received it. 18 Oct Received an e-mail stating that the system has "Accepted" my application. 7 Dec Received a form letter by regular mail stating my background checks were complete and came back negative. 15 Dec Received permit by mail. The first permit is valid for two years, with subsequent renewals good for three years. Fingerprinting is not required for renewal and the class room training is only 8 hours. Qualification is still required. The process was 91 days from start to finish. If I had planned more wisely, I could have scheduled multiple tasks on the same day (the class and fingerprints for example). The instructor advised us to carry the gun you qualified with in case you get into a self-defense situation down the road.
  4. PA has approximately 1.5 million CCW holders, behind Florida and Texas. https://crimeresearch.org/2022/11/concealed-carry-permit-holders-across-the-united-states-2021-2/ I don't see these people giving up their guns willingly. They are a formidable voting block to overcome. The Dems would have to start NOW writing down names of new voters, from cemeteries in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, to win upcoming elections to hang onto power. As someone has already mentioned, the 2nd Amendment is enshrined in their state constitution.
  5. He really should have a spare magazine. The extended mag could fail.
  6. Ah, that joke fell flat. What I was insinuating was that it would take his entire fortune to fix his teeth.
  7. I don't think he has enough money to fix his teeth......just sayin.
  8. You will have a choice of using their gun or yours. I recommend using theirs. They were using Remington 20 gauge semi-autos when I took the test. Three shots, loaded one at a time.
  9. I guess nothing changes. My last P2P from them took 165 days....using FARS.
  10. Yes, the cost between diesel and regular gas is growing. Paid $5.69 for diesel in Burlington County. Reg gas was $3.55.
  11. Have you tried reaching out to your electrical code official in your municipality? They may have some ideas. Also, an electrician with solar experience should be able to provide you some answers. I recently upgraded the electrical service to my home to 200A service. The electrician did a great job. He's in south jersey, so I don't know if that's any help.
  12. I don't know what you have in the way of revolvers but how about a pistol caliber lever action carbine (.38 special, .357 magnum, etc) You wouldn't have to worry about buying a new caliber to stock up because you already have it for your revolver Congrats on the family addition!
  13. I've been a member of US Law Shield for four years. It is not insurance. It's classified as a legal defense fund. Their 800 number for legal assistance is monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I attended a Law Shield presentation given by Evan Nappien in South River several months ago and he was carrying the phone with the 800 number. It rang during the presentation so I know the methodology is real and it works.
  14. I have no sympathy for the residents of Philadelphia. They elected a pair of clowns, they should have expected a circus.
  15. I have a sister that lives in the "northeast quadrant" (Clearwater) and she is scrambling to get ready.
  16. I grew up in a house that sat on a spring (Somerset County). ANY moderate amount of rainfall meant that my brothers and I were bailing water to assist the sump pumps. To this day, I still look at heavy rainfall and power outages differently than most people.
  17. I've been a member of US Law Shield for three years now.
  18. There are seven "insurance groups" that offer "plans" to Concealed Carry holders. Nearly all of them don't offer plans in NJ. Since Bucky has outlawed firearms liability insurance (or concealed carry insurance), some of the listed groups listed in the link refer to themselves as "legal defense funds". US Law Shield is one of them. This information is updated annually in August. https://www.concealedcarry.com/self-defense-gun-owner-insurance-programs-compared/
  19. I didn't see what anyone else was using. However, in listening to people discussing what they were going to use prior to shooting, most were using Glocks, CZs, Sigs, and Smith and Wesson's. They didn't talk about their mag capacity of the gun they were qualifying with.
  20. We did not discuss a handgun roster of any type at all on Saturday or Sunday so I can't speak to it in any way. Strange, if there were a roster, you would think the instructor would have mentioned it. Interesting, Maryland must have allowed individuals with magazines greater than 10 rounds to be "grandfathered" when they were declared "illegal" years ago. I say that because several class members talked about carrying a pistol with 15 or 17 round magazines when they received their permit. The course of fire was 25 rounds: 5 at 3yds, 5 at 5yds, 10 at 10yds, and 5 at 15 yds at a Q type silhouette target. The course was timed, however, you were loading 5 rounds at a time in a magazine for each sequence. I was shooting a revolver so it worked out well for me. One final note: there were 85 people in the class.
  21. I just completed a Maryland Handgun Wear and Carry Permit Course today. 16 hours of "death by Power Point". Yes, Maryland is on par with New Jersey with the rules and restrictions. For example, Maryland requires four references instead of NJ's three reference requirement. However, no notarizations are required and the process is done on line.
  22. For me, you've just laid out the argument to not get a permit. Not to mention, in my case, the stops I make during my everyday routine happen to be next to a school of some sort. From what I've read in other threads, if you are driving past a school and get pulled over, that could have serious consequences.
  23. If 200,000 to 300,000 applicants apply for a permit during the first year, I'm betting the judges will be removed from the process. If 2,000 to 3,000 apply, then I doubt it.
  24. I don't use social media. I had two reasons to apply for a NJ permit: I spend a lot of time in PA and in order to apply for a non-resident PA permit, you must supply a copy of your home state's permit. The other reason is a NJ permit eliminates "exceptions" when transporting firearms.........for now. It IS a violation of the 4th Amendment to provide that kind of personal information and if ANJRPC were looking for individuals to join a lawsuit, I would, and I'd make a donation to the legal team.
