  1. Aluminum. You won't have to worry about breaking the bat.
  2. I never went down that road (hollow points). I've only fired FMJ. Someone gave me a box of .38 +P HPs reloads ten years ago and it is still sitting in my ammo storage box. When all is said and done, a shotgun works. After all, sleepy Joe recommends them.
  3. When I was a teenager and into my early 20's, I was a pocket watch freak. I liked Bulova back then. During my time in the Army, all I had were wristwatches, usually Hamilton, Marathon or whoever had the contract to make the "Army issue" watch at the time. I couldn't afford a Rolex or similar watch because I was buying ham radio then, LOL.
  4. What is interesting is "gun control" was NOT an issue that people were concerned about during the past election. Since the Dems can't improve upon the mostly successful Trump presidency, they taken up the mantel of gun control and they're trying to MAKE it an issue.
  5. I serviced my snowblower AND generator this past weekend. Which is why I fall into the "1 - 2" snow" band on that map.
  6. I'm not sure if there is a CT "FID" card in use. Although CT is a "may issue" state, if you meet the requirements, they will issue you a permit to carry. The link below has the details. If you served in the military or are retired military, they will waive certain training requirements. From experience, I will say, when getting your finger prints done, make sure the person doing them knows what they are doing. Best of luck to you! https://portal.ct.gov/DESPP/Division-of-State-Police/Special-Licensing-and-Firearms/State-Pistol-Permit
  7. The short is No. It appears that NJSP Firearms unit is longer answering questions regarding application statuses (See the link below). The local police department should be able to give him a status on his application. I agree with EdF, talk with the person in charge of processing applications. If you get no satisfaction, talk to the police chief. As a last resort, you might try contacting Alexander Roubian, of NJ2AS, he might be able to help. I don't have his contact information. Perhaps someone else here does?? https://www.njsp.org/firearms/index.shtml
  8. I was a manager of a McDonald's at one time (I was desperate for a job). That picture of a McRib doesn't look like anything I remember. It doesn't even look like it was cooked on a grill. I'll bet they are deep frying now.
  9. The thread mentions a timing issue. A professional would be able to tell me for sure. A check of the different Rossi forums addresses my particular issue, however, I can eliminate all of the solutions offered. Fixing a timing problem is way beyond my skill level. Thanks for the suggestions!
  10. A little bit of a back story. When I bought the gun, I brought it home and tested it using .38 Special snap caps. The gun cycled flawlessly several dozen times but the action was very stiff. While doing that, I noticed that the interior of the receiver was covered with metal shavings left over from the machining process. I saw a video on YouTube on the disassembly and assembly of the rifle. I took it apart, cleaned it, and reassembled it. The action is much smoother now. Unfortunately, that's when I started having problems. The barrel is stamped ".38 Special/.357 Magnum" so it should feed both. The gun has never been fired.
  11. Can anyone recommend a gunsmith that knows their way around a lever gun? The gun is a Rossi .357. I want to ship it to the Rossi facility in Bainsbridge, GA but, on three different occasions, I've spent 30 minutes or more on the phone waiting to talk to someone regarding the procedure to ship it back for repair. The issue is when cycling the action, rounds 3 and 4 come out of the tube together and are laying the carrier. And, of course, neither will feed into the breech. This happens again with rounds 6 and 7. I thought it might be the cartridge stop but that seems ok. Spring is working fine. I gave the gun a thorough cleaning but same result. Any ideas? I'm in south Jersey.
  12. And when Republicans win in 2024, you can start up "Underground Waterproof Gun Storage Cabinet Recovery Systems LLC"
  13. The nearest PX that stocks ammo is located at Fort Belvoir. A clerk there told me they don't ship any ammo of any type. You must buy in person. The same story at Fort Lee.
  14. Did you get a notification that your background check was complete? The state police barracks that I use takes 3 1/2 to 4 months to process assuming your fingerprints are already on file.
  15. Do you mean 50 cal ammo boxes?
  16. Check the link below. US Law Shield is good in NJ. The reason is it is NOT insurance. It is a legal defense fund. I also have Armed Citizens Legal Defense Network. That gives me coverage in CT. https://www.concealedcarry.com/self-defense-gun-owner-insurance-programs-compared/
  17. Virginia. I have a Non-Resident Permit and frequently there on business.
  18. My permits are handled by a State Police barracks. I've been told, time and again, that the holdup is at the Firearms Investigation Unit at State Police HQ in West Trenton, not at the barracks. Before FARS, I would wait 5 1/2 months for permits. With FARS, its 3 1/2 months. The E permits should cut out the time the paper permit sits in West Trenton waiting for someone at the barracks to pick it up. Could be one or two days or as long as ten days. Then the barracks commander has to sign them. And that could take a few days as well.
  19. Greetings, welcome to the forum.
  20. Very nice! Best of luck to you using it...........and finding ammo for it
  21. You're right, if the previous owner didn't take care of the vehicle, over 100k might be a nightmare. I have a 1999 Jeep Cherokee with over 250k miles. Runs great, no major (or minor) problems. If your job takes you out in all kinds of weather, I'd recommend a Jeep. But that's just me.
