  1. I'm sorry but are you sure that is correct? 24 push ups in one minute? A person under the age of 40 can't do that? That's some seriously poor physical shape....no offense. Why not just hit the gym, lose some weight, shape up and try again?
  2. Worrying about video games is soooooo 1996.... The main issue with technology is smart phones, they're a lot worse than video games. Back when I was a kid, you could play games for hours but when you left the house, you were still in real life. Smartphones go with you 24/7. It's not just a certain group, either. 65 year old people, glued to the phone, following stupid e-mails and coupons. Little kids, 3 years old, glued to a tablet. People don't talk, they just go online, and get everything there. I'll not bore anyone with a giant post, you can (ironically) google it. Software companies, app developers (including Google, Facebook, and Snap) specifically model their products in a way that mimics the dopamine hits from hard drugs. Small, quick, sporadic bursts of dopamine that keep you hooked and wanting more. Psychology studies show MASSIVE effects on children's cognitive development and even the normal behavior of adults. Former employees of Google, Facebook, Snap, and other companies have publicly stated this as fact. Facebook founders don't let their children use the product. One of the most popular schools in Silicon Valley is a private school where there are no computers, tablets, or TV and the kids play outside. What does that tell you? Rule #1 of drug dealers. "Never get high on your own supply" Did you know that if you never created a Gmail, never logged into it on any mobile device or computer, that Google has 19 metrics they can label, track, and measure you with? They've sold people the idea that they're famous, they're responsible for the polarization of our country. They HIDE behind progressive views to keep the public distracted from their dirty business. Some people are just catching on, but this battle has a long way to go. The younger generation knows nothing else. The old people think it's just Candy Crush.
  3. Simply put, as a civilian restricted from full auto or anything above 15 rounds, I generally do not like anything in smaller calibers. Not 9, not 5.56, not 20 gauge, etc. For me rifles start with .30 and handguns start with .40 and shotguns come in 12 gauge. If I'm going to have a slower and smaller rate of fire, I'm going to make those fewer rounds count for as much as they can.
  4. Interesting, I've never seen that. Thanks a lot, I'll give it a look.
  5. I have an FAN FNAR that I'd like to put iron sights on. Right now it doesn't have any sights, I was wondering a good gunsmith around union county who would do something like that?
  6. Yeah but (Nationwide) the current fad is AR pistols (aka no stamp SBRs) so it's not too big a leap to making 5.56 also a handgun round if they really wanted to
  7. This is the dumbest plan ever and I don't know why people think this plan isn't dumb. It didn't work in CA, NY, MD, CT, or CO. Why would it work here?
  8. Do people who probably are not allowed to own guns obtain them at a gun show? Probably. Does this make it worth ruining gun shows for the 99.99% of law abiding people? NO. Can a prohibited person also potentially buy a gun in a private sale from a friend, acquaintance, off a person they met on a website, etc.? Yes. Are there already laws on the books to slap said person with prison sentences? Yes. The only reason anyone says "gun show loophole" in 2018 is because the same fossils from 1988 are still in office.
  9. I respectfully disagree. I have seen this argument before, essentially that finally they will go too far, and we win! Yeah! Stupid liberals! I highly doubt that is how it will go. It didn't go that way in CA and NY, and that was almost 5-6 years ago now. You're playing by the assumption that everyone plays the same game. That we all sit there and look at laws, and the constitution, and the principles of our founders, or whichever angle you take. Our opponent don't do that. They see the constitution as a living document. Many of them are outright socialists, communists, post-modernists, etc. Many of them think the founders were slave owning lunatics who were wrong about everything. To their supporters, all that matters is the agenda. And to their voters who don't own guns, who live in a crime ridden area, who come from a country where no one has guns, what do they care if you can't own this or do that? No difference to them. And guess who makes up the majority of the voters here?
  10. Yes, the permits are limited to working hours essentially. It's extremely arbitrary and will differ between employees even at the same company, depending on the individual judge who issues it. Wordings go anywhere from "to, from and during work" to "while performing duties for [company]" or "valid while working as [role]" or all other sorts of wordings. which means some people have to turn it in if they quit or change companies. Others can use the same permit at different companies if they leave. Some people can, depending on what the judge wrote, might be able to carry while transporting cash but not while responding to an alarm call or supervising other employees. I have even seen a permit that specified that the person had to have the gun locked while going to and from work. Nothing tops the most ridiculous I ever saw which was an individual who needed an entire new permit process because his specifically stated his job title and the guy got promoted! Long story short, "arbitrary and capricious" is an understatement here, and I think there is definitely a case for the law not being applied equally and fairly. I.e. this small business operator cannot secure a permit even for work while big companies are able to have a hundred permitted individuals on the payroll!
  11. The real question is, why the hell not?
  12. I have had an NJ carry permit before. And I would like to help out here if possible. I saw this lawsuit the other day. I recently learned the guy suing owns an ATM business where he Services them. Having also worked as security guard in New Jersey I applied for and received a New Jersey carry permit. The process is essentially sponsored by your employer who also writes a letter on your behalf in addition to the three letters of reference and other paperwork for the carry permit. Permit I received just like everyone else I worked with look similar to an F ID card however it was for carrying handguns and on the back was a box where the judge could put notes and depending on what county you lived in the wording would change but always always something to the effect it was only valid while performing duties for your company. I see that this run guy runs a small business so I'm wondering why massive security companies are able to get permits for all of their employees but this guy with his small business can't get a permit for himself or his employees? That seems extra unfair especially because New Jersey Can and does issue Carry Permits for security guards, jewelry showrooms, etc. even in the limited fashion such as this.
  13. Just to chime in, I doubt what you're talking about the same thing as me maintenance guy, but at Home Depot they sell the crimp on fittings and the crimp on tool for it is like ~$65. That should do it for a homeowner.
  14. Canned tuna and beans. Protein powder. Mixed nuts, plain oats. Hot sauce, mustard, vinegar. Ground coffee. Gallons of water. Dehydrated fruits. For shorter term, eggs last a while too. No need to buy expensive "tactical" food. Shop-Rite Can-Can sale has you covered. Also, think healthy. Slurping down sugary foods, high fat foods, eating too many carbohydrates, etc. is anathema not only to healthy lifestyle, but also to being prepared for a natural disaster or time of peril.
  15. 5.56 is a great caliber for full auto. Most civilians do not own a full auto. IMO anything below 30 caliber in semi auto is just not enough. Would rather have something in 7.62x39 any day.Whether it's AK, SKS, or even a CZ bolt. Instead of an AR-15. Just my opinion.
  16. Your guns will be just fine in the cold weather... Unless you have some sort of medical condition, are elderly/infant, there's no reason you can't spend a couple of hours outside on a winter day with the right clothes...Yes, even a very cold one. I'm shocked that this is a topic, no offense.
  17. That spur is completely unsafe. I would not like to be near anyone using that at a range....AWB is stupid, handling a firearm in an unsafe manner is even MORE stupid.
  18. No one wants to read long, boring blogs or web pages. We need a social media presence. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter. That's bare minimum. A YouTube presence with good, non corny video production will help a lot too. I would like to help with a social media presence.
  19. Wood is most likely laminate, can tell you for sure if I saw a picture. Nothing wrong with laminate, in fact laminate is stronger than many hardwoods due to the alternate grain pattern.
  20. Most towns only allow 6 ft! Seriously though, I see a lot of people on here boasting about non compliance and such. Which is fine, provided all claiming they wish to do so really understand the risks. All it takes is the wrong traffic stop, a busybody neighbor to call the cops when you and your wife are arguing, a house fire, etc. A member here told me of a friend that ended up in court after the maintenance man saw a black rifle on the bed from outside. And when that day comes the person will get locked up and sentenced to a decade in prison. No, tens of thousands of NJ gun owners are not going to come out and have an "I'm Spartacus!" moment to save you. They're going to keep their mouth shut while you rot in a hole. And maybe after a couple years, if you're incredibly lucky, some people on the internet may argue a bunch about you online and finally help you appeal and go free or get pardoned. But the odds on that are 1,000 to 1 so you'll probably just spend a decade getting raped, beaten, having your dinner stolen and calling another man "daddy" as you develop a bad meth habit. Just something to consider before calling other people cowards or telling them they need to grow a pair. We're talking some serious high stakes here, not just simple fines or some Adam Sandler Big Daddy court room scene where you win. This ain't the movies.
  21. No offense cause I share your pessimism deep down. But we've got to do SOMETHING. We at least have to try. I know some people plan on "not complying" - fine by me you do what you want. Personally, I wouldn't ever want to be a single phone call from a busybody neighbor away from 10+ years in prison. But that's just me and I'm sure you think I'm a coward.
  22. Good to hear, I wish them all the best. I would like to see some real results though, fingers crossed. Also, the fact that NJ2AS is at these meetings while the NRA and ANJRPC are not even updating their website? Shame, I will never contribute to either again. SHAME.
  23. Guys, have none of you ever seen the fish-man or stub style grips that they have to use in NY? What those grips do is make an AR/AK type almost impossible to comfortably and more important, SAFELY hold, handle, and fire. The use of a vertical foregrip is essentially required with one of those. Simply put, I wouldn't even want to be in the booth next to someone firing one of those things. Check the stub grip below, you are essentially no longer even holding the rifle as people have held a rifle in the past couple hundred years. You're pushing with the trigger hand, and pulling with the offhand, and bracing against the shoulder. IMO this is NOT SAFE. So, of course, that is what they are trying to do, ban the vertical foregrips, that way even if you retrofit your rifle with the Monster-Man or stub, you will quickly find it unwieldy and unsafe and either get rid of it or let it collect dust.
  24. It's a joke. Sorry. I'm just saying, sometimes the law is the law, but it's still just wrong. I never, ever advocate breaking the law. But if the state wants to imprisonment people for no good reason, let them be the ones to catch people. I'm not helping them. Also, jury nullification is a real thing.
