  1. Just stating the for the record, the device in the original post is NOT smoothbore as per the Reddit thread. Not sure where anyone is getting the idea that it is smoothbore from.
  2. Because NJ gun laws are stupid, counterproductive, make criminals out of regular people, demonize ergonomic features and are unconstitutional? At least that's what everyone here says. Personally I would NOT want to be the guinea pig for this either. But if this guy has the stones to argue with cops and carry letters around, I say more power to him. We need individuals like him. THIS is what activism looks like. Not sitting around waiting for imaginary lawsuits.
  3. 1776 baby!!! No "Royal Family" in my house! We exercise our 3rd amendment rights.
  4. Do people in NJ seriously do this? I'm wondering because I shoot in PA... I get irked enough when guys come off the 25 yard line to question my shooting. Yes, you can stand up and shoot a Mosin with iron sights and hit a 100 yard target. It's not that hard, maybe try learning the fundamentals before you slap a $500 scope on your rifle? But legal stuff? Really? If someone came up to me at a range and seriously questioned me about some kind of legal BS I would tell them...well...can't type what I'd say on this forum. Let's just say it would be abbreviated F O Mind your own damn business people
  5. In all seriousness, look into getting him an AR-15. Considering there is a very real possibility that it may be unavailable altogether during his lifetime, I would say it's a worthwhile investment.
  6. That too, actually. Licenses and background checks hold up in court, but letters needing to be sent to neighbors and relatives is also a form of intimidation and not by any means a scientific measure or one that follows due process. At best it is archaic and ineffective, at worst it is intimidating and discriminatory.
  7. Just want to add. The NJ FID process of sending letters to someone's job is blatant intimidation and prevents tens of thousands of people, if not hundreds of thousands, from exercising their rights because it would result in professional damage to their career. NJ is full of massive corporations HQs and by extension their employees, a countless many whom are affected by this. If groups can get abortion legalized under the auspices of privacy, why has no group ever filed such a suit in NJ over the FID letters? But I'm supposed to hold out hope and fork over donations so I stay at 15rds instead of 10? Capt14k is right. If it doesn't benefit dealers then none of the "gun rights" organizations in NJ give a crap. And guess what, dealers LOVE a priveliged position that locks in their customer base and gives them more opportunities to sell and charge more.
  8. Curious about PA rifle hunting regulations. Is a scope required or can you use a rifle with iron sights?
  9. Thank you. I forget his name but there's a member on here who often says it best: "Remember, they HATE you and want you gone"
  10. They know. They know the NICS numbers grow each year, but not because more people are buying guns, but that the same people are buying more guns, at least in NJ. I know more people who have bought their tenth gun than I do who have bought their first gun. And this is probably the case for many people if not most. This is a giant weakness for us politically. We need more gun owners.
  11. Hey man, no need to be sarcastic about it. Those prices for FFL fees, compliance work, etc. are far from unheard of, especially if you don't live way way out in Mercer County. Just browse the price list on this site sometime. "Buy it cheap, stack it deep" is the motto
  12. I generally get chewed out for saying it, but the dealers financially benefit from gun control. Can't charge hundreds of dollars to tack weld muzzle brakes and epoxy stocks if there's no AWB. Seriously that's another $100-300+ dollars extra for half hour of work, on top of every black rifle sale. $$$$ Can't charge $125 transfer fees or huge markups if you actually have competition. Competition that is kept away by the massive regulatory hurdles. They're probably excited for an upcoming online ammo sales ban. No more bulk prices, back to $1/round WWB and American Eagle for the gun shops...imagine how many businesses wish they could get the government to ban Amazon Prime...
  13. I swear I wish I had a nickel for every time someone talked about a "court case" for gun rights. I'd have so much money I'd have already moved out of NJ
  14. If he's shooting on his own property out in the middle of nowhere? Why the hell not, I agree...but he isn't... He's taking this to a public, indoor range, and like most ranges in NJ it's probably crowded. He could very well be there with someone standing on both sides of him only a few feet away. He can seriously hurt or injure not himself (that's his problem) but an unwitting bystander who had nothing to do with this at all. Like I said, I'm all for doing whatever the hell you want. If you're out in the woods in the middle of nowhere, go ahead and hip shoot, bump fire, see what X round does to an old TV set, have at it. When you are nearby other people you are not just a danger to yourself but a danger to others. Long time ago I was at a public range and some guy was shooting reloads he made out of his .44 magnum. Cool, good for him. He probably made a few too hot. Cool, good for him. What it wasn't good for was the complete stranger shooting in the booth next to him, who was hospitalized when the cylinder on his revolver shattered...
  15. Yep. It's almost as if there's an entire group of people who benefit from all this. If we want to ever get anywhere we need a truly grassroots org, but it's probably too late for even that. Too bad there was no social media in 1994. The NY SAFE Act is now 5 years old.
  16. That didn't stop CA and NY from having bans on them for 5-10+ years now. Don't get me wrong I agree with every word you said. Banning ergonomic features is beyond stupid. It's ridiculous that even now we can't have an adjustable stock on most rifles. Now removing the grip on something like an AR type is downright dangerous. But it won't stop them. They're going to pretty much do what they want and I'm honestly tired of false hope in Boogeyman lawsuits that should have happened twenty years ago. Where are the lawsuits challenging 15 rounds? Challenging the current laws? How is it not considered intimidation and denial of rights that you have to get a letter sent to your job for an FID? Where's the lawsuits on that? This is why I don't see how were supposed to sit here and think ten rounds and no features will be defeated when 15 and two came and went with but a whimper. Sorry.
  17. I know it's not an AK. Anyways. Did they stop import on these? Why are they so rare?
  18. Get a Mosin! Not too expensive still, you get a piece of history and an awesome rifle. No reason you can't hit a paper plate offhand at 100 yards with one. It's fun going to the range and people come up to you with the usual "can't hit anything with that lol" memes then you leave their jaws hanging open! Also how about an AR in 9mm? Ammo is stupid cheap right now, they're fun to shoot and take same mags as your pistols maybe. And if you move out of NJ it can become a tax stamp or one of those "pistols" with an "arm brace" that everyone has now.
  19. Pal's Cabin! It's gone now Sweet Waters in Westfield, Char in Somerville.
  20. Dude can you please label such insanely sexy pictures as NSFW? LOL
  21. Yeah I have to agree with a couple posters above it sounds like your biggest issue here is actually local cops and they're just doing a little trick here where they're pretending like they want to give you a permit but just "can't". The dead giveaway here is that they want you to go to a physical Dr to get an evaluation of Mental Health which is impossible because no physician can or will make that determination. Also, remember that COPS ARE PEOPLE. And people have opinions. This isn't pro or anti cop. Just facts. You may meet plenty of cops at the range who are cool guys that believe in 2A. But there's also tons of cops that just think people owning guns shouldn't be allowed. Or worse, you meet cops that think only people like them should have guns. Guess which two out of those three types are most common in NJ? Chief of the town I used to live in literally stated he did not think anyone should own a gun for any reason, not even hunting because you can go use a bow. The guy who got his job after him thinks NJ laws are flat out dumb and speaks openly about it. The permit turnaround time is well under a month almost every time. I went in for a single handgun permit one time, he told me to fill out an app for 2, "it's only an extra $2 and you've got time to change your mind" he told me. Solid guy.
  22. I still have a weird feeling they might try and bring Hillary around for a 2020 rematch. Frame the whole thing as a "do-over". It makes no sense. It doesn't have to, they're Democrats.
