  1. I was actually just going to make a thread about slings. I have a leather sling on my m1 garand, but I have no idea if it's useful for stabilized shooting. It's pretty tight up against the rifle, and I'm not sure how, or if, I can loosen it for use in shooting. If not, what could I use? I never knew much about slings Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  2. I have a Remington r1 enhanced 1911. It's currently blued and has some nice wood grips. I'm thinking of someday cerakoting it with the shark face from WWII bombers. My poppop was in the army air corps, 5th airforce, 4th airdrome squadron, and I have photos of him posing with those types of bombers, so I think it'll be a neat thing. He had a 1911 in the war, apparently he bought it for a few dollars since there wasn't much to spend money on in New Guinea or the Phillipines. Unfortunately, when they were returning home, the army went through all their belongings while they were off base, and seized the pistol as government property. I'm wondering what something like that would cost. Furthermore, I'm wondering whether I should get the whole thing colored in the green color the bombers were painted. I'm not in a rush, just an idea I was kicking around in the future. I was also tempted to do that to my Sig P226, since I shoot that far more often, but I'm not sure if the front of the gun is too "tall" and it wouldn't look right Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  3. The issue is that they still run ads on the videos, they're just not cutting the content creators in. Also, I've heard anecdotally that they are disproportionately going after more right-leaning personalities, or interests. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  4. Someday, yes. I don't think I have the skills to get on target that far yet. My eyes aren't so great either. I've always wanted to try some distance shooting. I've been working my way up from 50 to 300 yds lately Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  5. Maybe I'm just dense, but I see the event, but no info on the website Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  6. Nice, you think I have a shot? I've never competed before, and don't know what's considered "good" but figured that at distance with a .22. Not sure if 100yds is a category since I've never competed, actually, I have no clue how to enter or anything Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  7. I was wondering what events there were at the SJSC .22 competition and when it is. I know they hold one every year, and that ruger sponsors it, but I wasn't sure the time or date. Also, I wondered what the rules and events were. I've been wanting to get into competitive shooting, and feel that if they have an event for 100 yds, I may actually be able to do well, though I'd be curious as to what you guys think of my target, and if I'm good enough for competition. The picture is from my stock savage mkII with accutrigger, adjustable leapers scope, and a UTG bipod. 40 shots at 100 yds from a bench using wolf .22. I don't have a .22 pistol, but am thinking of getting the .22 conversion for my sig p226. Thank you for advice and info! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  8. My AR is a 20" 1:9 chrome lined. I typically shoot 55gr, so I can't speak to heavier rounds, but I will say it's much more accurate than I am. I'd wager that depending on the level of competition you're doing, the build you're looking at will suffice. It's easy to go down a rabbit hole and just spend tons of money, but you eventually reach a point of diminishing returns. I'd think that loading your own ammo, and experimenting with what loads the particular rifle does best with will yield greater results in the long run Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  9. I don't reload much just because I don't really have the space to mount all my stuff, but I hang onto everything. During the 2012/2013 panic buying I was able to keep myself in .223 because I had the stuff to load it. Even if I'm not actively doing it, I like having the option for a rainy day, though I have considered selling some of my once-fired brass that I don't plan to reload any time soon, like .30-06 Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
