The only way to establish residency in NJ is to get NJ DL?

You'll know when I tell you where I'm from... Yup, CA! We have the most retarded, unconstitutional handgun laws in CA in terms of the "handgun roster". Only guns in the roster can be purchased for "safety" reasons. It's basically the CA government extorting money out of the gun manufacturers. They have to pay a fee for every gun they list on the roster. So for example, the Springfield 1911 TRP full rail is on the roster so it's legal to purchase in CA. If u want the same gun with half rail? Nope, not on the list. Total BS! Anyway, there r some guns I would like to purchase not on the roster. Since I have a place in NJ, why not take advantage? Maybe this is going to be harder than I thought? I guess I'll find out this summer.

Thanks guys for all the input. I was thinking of getting NJ ID card (not DL) to establish my residence then apply for the FPID.

Can you purchase a firearm if you are a partime resident of NJ? I have a house in NJ and come here during the summer.
