  1. I pulled my 21 foot boat with my 2013 Honda Ridgeline. I know many like the Big 3 domestic manufacturers, and I use to, too. But I have to say, Honda makes some quality stuff. Wifey keeps telling me to go buy a new truck, but I like the Ridgeline too much to get rid of it. Although... A Ford F-150 Raptor is very tempting....
  2. From everything I've read. yes... concealed... same as carrying pepper spray. And that's the one downside, if someone thinks it's a real handgun.

    How much cash

More... Cash is king, when your plastic doesn't work, and you want to eat or buy important necessities. Also, trying to find a marked-up generator when the power goes off is a bad strategy. You should already have it, and the fuel to run it BEFORE the lights go off.
  4. Makes for an alternative in the PRNJ, if you want to carry some sort of protection. Traveling nurse doesn't leave home without her Byrna ...."Michelle, who is employed as a travel nurse, didn’t want to give up hiking or backpacking even when she is away from home for work, but she wanted a self-defense tool to protect her. “I don’t believe in lethal arms of a gun. I’m scared of guns,” she said. “As a hospice nurse, I will take a call at night, and sometimes I’ll be out all night. And it’s just going to be an added protection in case I do go into bad neighborhoods,” she said, adding some nights she might be out at one or two in the morning. “It’s just a measure of peace.” She explained that she wanted a self-defense tool that offered more protection she was comfortable with. “I didn’t feel safe with just me or a knife. I wanted something a little more aggressive than that. I was afraid with the mace that I would just shoot myself in the eye, I wouldn’t have time to, you know, get it ready when I was being attacked, and I didn’t think it would go far enough and I couldn’t carry bear spray because it was too big and cumbersome.” Michelle believes the Byrna will allow people like herself to enjoy more experiences. https://byrna.com/blogs/byrna-nation/travel-nurse-keeps-active-lifestyle-with-the-safety-of-byrna

    Bitcoin...

Oh snap... did you sell yet?? ...."Bitcoin dropped to a three-month low late Friday amid jitters over U.S. monetary policy tightening and an internet shutdown in Kazakhstan, the world’s second-biggest bitcoin mining hub. The price of bitcoin fell below the $41,000 mark to $40,749.90 just after 10:50 a.m. ET Friday, reaching its lowest level since Sept. 29, according to data from Coin Metrics. It was last trading down 2.9% at a price of $41,947.75. The world’s largest cryptocurrency began falling earlier this week after the minutes from the Federal Reserve’s December meeting hinted the U.S. central bank would dial back its pandemic-era stimulus. The hawkish comments triggered a sell-off in global stock markets which spilled over into cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin bulls often describe it as an asset that is uncorrelated to traditional financial markets, however experts have noticed growing parallels in the price movements of bitcoin and stocks. https://www.cnbc.com/2022/01/07/crypto-bitcoin-btc-price-slumps-to-3-month-low.html?&qsearchterm=cryptocurrency
  6. That's possible, but you would also need to keep the batteries charged when the grid is up, so the amount being siphoned off to do that would be noticed. You would also need to do noticeable changes to the inverter, wiring and switch gear to be ready. Sure, it can be done, but who will risk getting caught by the solar company if they ever came out to check/repair the system? A battery backup system to solar should be part of the complete system, so power you produce/save during the day can be used by you at night when the sun goes down. Unfortunately, very few people but that additional thought/construction into planning of their system... They just wanted the "free" panels...
  7. And urine is 95% water. Jus say'n.
  8. It's nice when you can write the rules that pertain to you. Remember who said this: "It's a big club, and you ain't in it".
  9. City water Well water Bottled water Swimming pool Backpacker pump type water filter for stream or lake Multiple 6 gallon portable containers Purification tablets
  10. They know your output each month, and when it drops, they'll pay you a visit. It's part of the lease agreement. They make their money on selling the SRECs.. they won't give up that gravy train.
  11. Another BIG miss by the "professionals". Got 2 inches here, and we were in the 6-8 range when I went to bed. And they closed the schools again.. what wimps...
  12. Yep, all those Ring systems are useless when the WiFi goes down. Many of those "free" systems won't let you tap into them or do a battery backup system, since your excess power is suppose to go back into the grid. When the grid goes down, those systems are useless too, as the Inverters get shut off. I had a neighbor next to me with a roof full of solar during Hurricane Sandy. When the grid went down, his house was as dark as everyone elses. He had to go out and scrounge around for a generator, even though he had the potential to power his whole house with his panels.
  13. The Fuhrer declares a State of Emergency..... because.... we're going to get some snow..... in the Winter.... Imagine that... ....."Gov. Phil Murphy declared a statewide state of emergency in New Jersey starting at 10 p.m. Thursday as the state is set to be hit with its third winter weather event of the week — a snowstorm expected to effect most of the state overnight, dropping as as much as 6 inches in some places. Murphy said northwestern parts of the state are expected to see between 3 and four inches of snow, while other parts could see up to 6 inches.
  14. Here we go, Round 2 tonight. Let's see how far they miss THIS prediction:
  15. Plus, the 10 year has been creeping up, projected to hit 2% soon. That will push up interest rates for consumers for a bunch of loans, like mortgages, credit cards, autos and other personal loans. That will slow down the "recovery".
  16. More to the story, which is even more impressive. This dog was only a year old, and it's a "she" not a "he". Awesome dog!! ..."Cam Laundry, Tinsley’s owner, was behind the wheel of the overturned Ford truck. “She's my little guardian angel," Laundry said. "It's a miracle that she had that kind of intelligence to do what she did." “We were shaken up, didn't know what was happening. Next thing we know, the cops were there, and it was all because of her,” Laundry said. “Of course, she never leaves my side, so we're always together," Laundry said. "In that truck that got wrecked, she's always my co-pilot. She's always with me." Laundry said Tinsley has a well-earned reward on the way, most likely in the form of a venison burger for dinner. https://www.wmur.com/article/dog-alerts-new-hampshire-police-after-crash/38666434#
  17. Probably the same number that have been prosecuted for taking 10+ round mags to the range after Oct. 2018.
  18. This boy should get a nice, big, juicy T-bone steak! It also follows the primary rule in k9 training, always trust your dog! LEBANON, N.H. (AP) — A German shepherd named Tinsley, first thought to be a lost dog, successfully led New Hampshire state police to the site of its owner’s rollover crash. Both the vehicle’s occupants were seriously hurt, but thanks to Tinsley’s dogged efforts they quickly received medical assistance once officers discovered the truck, which went off the road near a Vermont interstate junction, WMUR-TV reported Tuesday. “The dog was trying to show them something,” said Lt. Daniel Baldassarre of the New Hampshire State Police. “He kept trying to get away from them but didn’t run away totally. “It was kind of, ‘Follow me. Follow me.’ And they did that and you know, to their surprise to see the guardrail damaged and to look down to where the dog is looking at, it’s just, they were almost in disbelief,” he said. https://apnews.com/article/oddities-lifestyle-new-hampshire-dogs-f7b882ddd8138fcbdea96e42d931d21e
  19. That's a TON of checks and guns... wonder how many were actually approved? Also wonder, how many multiple purchases were done on a single check? ...."FBI figures show the exact number of 2021 NICS checks to be 38,876,673. KGW8 reported that nearly 39.7 million NICS checks were conducted in 2020, shattering the previous record of 27.5 million, set in 2016. This means the more 38.8 million NICS checks conducted in 2021 represent the second-most for any year ever. The figure of 38.8 million+ is not a clear measurement of the number of guns sold in 2021, and this is because NICS checks are conducted on the buyers not the guns. Moreover would-be buyer, after passing a background check, may purchase multiple guns while in the gun store. https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2022/01/04/fbi-conducted-over-38-8-million-gun-background-checks-in-2021/
  20. Homeowner with Grandchildren Shoots, Kills Alleged Intruder A homeowner who was at his Salem, Oregon, house with his grandchildren shot and killed an alleged intruder Sunday night just before 7 p.m. KVAL reports the homeowner was with “his adult daughter and two grandchildren” when the alleged intruder tried to make entrance into the residence. The homeowner shot the intruder, killing him. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said, “A 911 caller reported an unknown male was trying to break into the home before a resident shot the intruder.” KOIN notes that the alleged intruder was identified as 42-year-old Peter Bishop. Neither the homeowner, his daughter, or grandchildren were harmed in the incident.
  21. That's why I moved some cash into the Series I savings bonds, currently paying over 7%. Not a bad return, at least for a short while, and I figure, I'm getting something back from .Gov for decades of paying in with taxes.

Yeah, but I bet you got good barbecue.... and nobody uses a crockpot to cook it!
  23. I didn't think so either, but here we are... another record! DOW at a new record of 36,844 right now. ...."The Dow Jones Industrial average rose for a second day to start 2022 as investors bet on the kinds of stocks that would benefit from a robust economy this year despite the omicron threat. The Dow rose 269 points, or about 0.7%, and hit an intraday record on Tuesday. The S&P 500 also reached an intraday record, before turning lower as tech shares fell. https://www.cnbc.com/2022/01/03/stock-market-futures-open-to-close-news.html
  24. Yeah, talk about a BIG miss on the forecast. You guys need a job like that, be completely wrong, and still have a job the next day! We had like maybe 3" on the cars, and 1-2 on the driveway. The grass has between 2-3. I can still see the concrete on my patio in the backyard. The real issue is that temps are going down into the teens tonight, so anything still on the ground will freeze up. Kids will probably get tomorrow off too...
