  1. Exactly the same thing for me. I went to college instead of enlisting, got married right after college, 3 kids later, and had a great career and was able to retire in my 50's. But looking back, I wish I had the experience in serving and probably would have found a interesting future in the military. But, I didn't get any guidance or advice from my parents, and just winged it as I went. Thankfully, everything has worked out well. Just hit 39 years with wifey last week, and we haven't killed each other yet.... I made sure to give my two boys lots of information and advice, so they could chart their own futures. Both are Eagle Scouts, but neither decided to follow-up and go into the military, even the reserves. Youngest son works for DHS and is pursuing a career in law enforcement.
  2. This is what I would propose to her. They are DOUBLE locked in this situation... If she still won't agree, you have two options, but the first option gets really expensive with the divorce lawyer. So, I suggest the second option, grow a pair and stop letting her wear the pants in the family. As I mentioned in past posts, my wife absolutely doesn't like my hobby either, and wants nothing to do with my firearms. She, on occassion, gets on some sort of "safety" kick because of how I keep some items in the ready. But at the end of the day, I basically told her that it's my hobby, and to close her pie hole. Sometimes being "direct" can clear the air, and she realizes that it's unfair to impose her likes/dislikes on me, and I have the right to participate in the hobby of my choosing, not hers....
  3. The problem is, the MAJORITY of people who download these apps NEVER read the permissions they give them, just hit OK and move on. Then they wonder how all their personal information gets siphoned off. How ANYONE can stick a Echo, Google Home, Facebook Portal or any similar device in their homes and "think" that ALL their personal information ISN'T being siphoned off, is insane!!! Then, for the icing on the cake, they do all their personal banking, legal matters, etc. on FREE email accounts like Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, Hotmail and a bunch of others, then wonder why their privacy and financial information gets compromised... idiots never sleep...
  4. Hang a full length mirror over it, then it becomes out of sight. I've always been a fan of "hiding in plain sight" hidden concealment furniture/cabinets, versus the conventional gun safe.
  5. Do you carry a current cell phone? What apps are installed on it? Here's another popular app, a FREE flashlight app. Everyone has one on their phone. Can anyone tell me why a flashlight app needs access to all these areas of your phone to turn on a light??????? Read that last line in the permissions "may AUTOMATICALLY add capabilities", like AFTER you have installed it... Concerned yet??
  6. Ha ha ha.... you learned my trick too!! Wifey still hasn't figured it out, when I tell her I need to buy new tools so it helps me with the project I'm doing for her...
  7. And there are apps that people voluntarily load on their phones and allow that. Why would this popular app, where you're posting selfies, need access to all these functions on your phone? Sadly, the "sheep" give ALL their personal information to some unknown organization, just so they can keep in contact with their "friends" on a "FREE" app... It's so screwed up, that people deserve the screwing that they get.
  8. It's not the phone itself that's doing all the snooping, it's the apps that are loaded on it. NOBODY reads the permissions they give an app and what they allow it to access, because those awesome apps are FREE!!! (You do know WHY they are FREE, right?) Because YOU are the product being sold off. That's always why Alexa devices are so cheap, so Amazon get get them into more places and start harvesting and selling off all the data they collect...
  9. No one in the family owns a Smart phone or has installed any apps on them?
  10. Definitely cell phones, my son has had multiple experiences where ads pop up on his Facebook feed for items he was talking about earlier in the day. One example, we were in Costco looking and talking about a backyard play gym they had on display, and where he could put one in his yard. His phone was in his pocket. He never searched on his phone for any information on play gyms. Later on that day, when he checked his Facebook page, an ad popped up with almost the same exact play gym to purchase. He's told me this has happened multiple times with other rare products that he knows he was talking to someone about, but never actually searched them on his phone or computer. Yep, all those devices have ears...
  11. Don't you just love sensationalism (lies) in reporting the (fake) news, specially when it relates to guns in this state?
  12. Here's the perfect over reaction by the Liberal media, to hype up a story that doesn't exist: "Active Shooter". This is why we have the problems we do in the country, with FAKE news... from News12 NJ: Police: Patient with rifle in bed prompts reports of active shooter BRICK TOWNSHIP - The all clear has been given in Brick Township following reports of an active shooter. Police were called around 10:30 a.m. to a house on Sprucewood Avenue, near Chambers Bridge Road, for a report of an armed subject inside the home. A home health aide told police when she arrived at her patient's house, he was in bed with a rifle. Police made contact with the homeowner and placed him into protective custody, where he was taken to Ocean Medical Center for an evaluation. Police removed at least one loaded weapon from the home. No charges are being filed at this time. No injuries were reported. Two schools were placed on lockdown while police tried to make contact with him. There is no threat to the public. http://newjersey.news12.com/story/40414099/police-patient-with-rifle-in-bed-prompts-reports-of-active-shooter Of course, there's been no report of the type of rifle. Was it a scary "Weapon of War Assault Rifle" that fires High Capacity Clips??? Or, maybe a BB Gun???
  13. I think that is over speculation. He could have just been having regular visits by an aid, maybe from recent surgery or just standard old age issues, since it sounds like he lived by himself. This is standard care for someone on Medicare. I believe that is what it was. Over reaction. A fearful anti-2A home health aid (there are just a few anti-2A people in this state, right). This, coupled with the fact that he didn't answer his phone, got all the local LEO's into G.I. Joe SWAT hype... The article in the OP, and the one below from the APP both say there was never any threat, so this is why I believe it was a total over reaction by someone anti-2A. Look at the statements in the article below: And now a statement from a G.I. Joe hero on the scene: What a joke!!!! https://www.app.com/story/news/crime/jersey-mayhem/2019/05/03/brick-police-sprucewood-chambers-bridge/3661535002/
  14. Just remember, if the "peasants" decide to revolt, the most powerful military and police forces will be there in a second to snuff them out. The militia is no match for these warriors. This incident is proof, right?? Oh, wait... ONE GUY tied up and handcuffed a complete police force and caused issues for two schools... ONE guy... I wonder what a few groups of "focused" guys could do????
  15. Except, the majority of guys who buy "real trucks" only use them to drive back and forth to the grocery store. They're compensating for what's missing "below".
  16. Looks like Florida is moving forward with allowing teachers to CCW and protect the kids, after the LEO's on scene at Parkland refused to do their job. Of course, the Democrats don't support it... Surprised?? ...."The Republican-led House voted 65-47 on Wednesday to send the bill to GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is expected to sign it. The measure expands an existing school "guardian" program to allow any teacher to volunteer to carry a weapon if their local school district approves. "It allows the good guys to stop the bad. The bad guys will never know when the good guys are there to shoot back," said Republican Rep. Chuck Brannan of Lake City, a retired law enforcement officer. "The guardian is the last line of defense. He or she will be there when a police officer is not." Teachers who want to carry guns in districts that choose to join the program would have to undergo police-style training, psychiatric evaluation and drug screening. Under a law passed last year immediately after the Parkland shooting, only teachers who also have another role, such as sports coach, are eligible to carry weapons on campus. https://www.sacbee.com/news/nation-world/article229905954.html
  17. I've always tried to buy locally and have a relationship with the agent, just in case. But, I've experienced the same thing, the first year, they are competitive, then the next year, they go to screw you (and this is without ever filing a claim). It's always the same answer, "I have no control on the renewal pricing". I know dealing with most insurance companies is a pain... So now, I just do a quick shop around for price at renewal time, loyality doesn't seem to exist with local agents anymore. I'm with Geico for Homeowners, Auto and RV.
  18. Ahhh, but did you get yelled at by the Nazi in the tower?
  19. Should have given us a heads up you were going. I would have traded doing yard clean up with burning through some ammo.
  20. Here's a post today from the forum by NJ2AS:
  21. OK Lady, you don't want them detained, then here's the other option... Enjoy!!! .... Las Cruces, New Mexico officials reported on Monday that Border Patrol agents released almost 1,600 migrants into the town of just over 100,000 residents over a 10-day period, forcing the city to spend $75,000 on humanitarian assistance. Mayor Miyagishima made arrangements with Santa Fe and Albuquerque to take migrants on a rotating basis, according to the report. "It looks like they’ll be taking some. We just need to figure out transportation," he said, adding "We could easily handle 200, but not 200 a day." And the Lady governor said this in February: "I reject the federal contention that there exists an overwhelming national security crisis at the southern border, along which are some of the safest communities in the country. In February, New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham ordered the removal of most of her state’s National Guard troops from border security assistance missions, Breitbart News reported. https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2019-04-23/1600-migrants-dumped-new-mexico-city-forced-spend-75k-humanitarian-assistance When will she sing a different tune?
  22. It would also be interesting to see if they invite anyone on the Pro 2A side, to give an opposing point of view to theirs. Or, will this turn into another one of Murphy's closed 2A bash session. What I found interesting is her point of view on this violence, and that she sees so many gunshot victims, so she thinks it's an epidemic. Well, duh... you practice at University Hospital in Newark, what did you think you would see in the city of Cory Booker? If she doesn't want to see all these gunshot cases, move away from the hospital in the 'hood.
  23. Did anyone notice this? Rutgers is getting in on the Anti-2A bandwagon, hosting a seminar where our awesome Gov. Murphy will be the keynote speaker. It's going on Tuesday , April 23rd. They're increasing the brainwashing of students even more. Liberal indoctrination at it's best of a captive audience. .... This event will introduce the Center on Gun Violence Research to the public, and allow for a broad audience to engage in a conversation about the future of gun violence prevention in NJ and throughout the country. It will begin with a keynote from Governor Phil Murphy followed by a talk from Dr. Stephanie Bonne who will present the state of affairs of gun violence in NJ. " https://gunviolenceresearchcenter.rutgers.edu/preventing-gun-violence-in-nj/ And here's the newly formed leaders: Stephanie Bonne, an assistant professor of trauma and critical care surgery at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, has become one of the nation’s leading voices on taking a public health approach to prevent gun violence. Her experience at University Hospital drove Bonne to take the lead last year on New Jersey Medical School’s winning application when Gov. Phil Murphy announced that the state was taking proposals to create a $2-million center for gun violence research, a role that has helped put her in the national spotlight. Bonne will be a keynote speaker at the inaugural conference of the New Jersey Center on Gun Violence Research on April 23. https://news.rutgers.edu/preventing-gun-violence-new-jersey/20190418#.XL5uJy-ZO7A
