  1. You will want to base that on the FFL software(s) you plan to/need to use. I see a lot of FFLs using macs... not sure if thats because the better FFL software is only available on a mac or what not but that's what i would base your platform choice on.
  2. You cant carry a gun here, but as long as your not a prohibited person and over 18 you can carry a taser if your worried about your safety.
  3. Good luck on your endeavor here Chris!
  4. Welcome fellow Taylor Ham person
  5. The WAWA in Parsippany quite often usually has the lowest price in the area and I have never had a problem using their gas in my Silverado.
  6. Not necessarily .. somewhere in the middle of all of this is the required mental health check that the state does as well. Im not sure when in this process its done. I never received an email on that step assuming they even send an email for that. i dont know if they run these checks consecutively or if that check is run first or after the criminal check. it also seems to matter the county your in on the mental health check where more populous counties take a look a little longer. Some local PD's are not very 2A friendly and drag their feet at their end as well.
  7. Once everything is completed the chief of police needs to sign and date them, and then they should contact you to come down to the Police department to pay for them and pick them up. When you pick them up make sure to review all the info on the permits is correct. Human error comes into play when they are printing/typing out these forms. I've received mine back with the wrong date of birth before. You want to make sure all of the info is accurate. You will get several emails from the FARS system... obviously subject to change as they make changes to the system.. but my most recent encounter with the system.... SUBJECT: Firearms Purchaser Identification Card and/or Handgun Purchase Permit Application Submission Confirmation Got that email when i submitted the initial request... Then I received a few of these status updates SUBJECT: Firearms Purchaser Identification Card and/or Handgun Purchase Permit Application - Status Update One of these for each of my two references doing what they needed to do and again when the Criminal History Check was completed.. so three status updates. And the last email I received from the system was: SUBJECT: Firearms Purchaser Identification Card and/or Handgun Purchase Permit Application – Application Approved Which stated: Status Update: Approved. DO NOT APPEAR AT THE APPROVING POLICE DEPARTMENT UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN CONTACTED BY IT'S PERSONNEL TO RETRIEVE YOUR DOCUMENTS. Once you get an email that everything is approved, i would give them a week and if you don't hear from them by then, then politely call to inquire of the status. You may actually get a call from them and have them in hand even before you get that final email though.
  8. My Shot Show haul was no where near as impressive as @Krdshrk Walking around with him and watching him sniff out the freebies like a hound dog on the scent was most impressive. I also have a plastic water bottle from miguel caballero and a coffee mug from Mossberg that i forgot to put into the picture.
  9. I never said Sig's wern't nice... just that you are an elitist sig snob, while im more of a equal opportunity gun whore lol
  10. The online system just started last year and each department is on their own to implement it and get their people trained on it. Some have been quicker than others, and some towns are still doing both as the kinks are being worked out, my town included... I dont think any departments will start forcing people to use it rather than old school paper for a while. Ask them next time if they are using the online system yet, by now they should be.. And all you need to do is call them and ask them for the ORI to make sure you have the right code.
  11. At the bottom of your link... https://www.state.nj.us/dep/fgw/ranges.htm#clintonrules Clinton Muzzleloader/Rifle Range Rules and Closures The following rules apply to the Clinton Muzzleloader/Rifle Range ONLY: All target frames must measure a minimum 30 inches from its base to the bottom of the paper target held in the frame. Frames must be placed only on top of a target mound located at the 25, 50 and 100 yard lines. This minimum target height requirement will eliminate the risk of ricochet and ensure that all projectiles are collected in the berm behind the 100 yard target. Shooters may supply their own frames which meet the above specifications, or use those provided on-site by the Division of Fish and Wildlife. Spinner type targets for .22 caliber firearms MUST be placed directly at the base of the 25 yard berm so that all bullets are directed into the berm. These targets are not to be used at other yardage or berm placements.
  12. well if we can shoot centerfire up to .30 then I guess we can Line A has always been the rule that is nothing new Ha .. never mind, now I see the typo. My brain passed over it at first lol
  13. I'm on board with everything but the optics. I don't know anything about that red dot ... maybe its the best in the world ..but dam that optic is ugly. Like a big black turd sitting on your pistol lol. From a looks standpoint I think the optics does it an injustice. Besides that i think it looks sweet. Enjoy.
  14. Who are you referring to? Anthony? if so you must be living under a rock or with your head up your ass.
  15. They require a Amex black card to afford their prices as well lol
  16. Guess we'll see what happen as more info comes out. I wont be making my gun purchase decisions by a single incident like this, but if it is determined to be a more wide spread problem like SIG had with the P365 and the P320 in the beginning (cough cough @Zeke you sig elitist snob) lol then i will hold off until they Glock comes up with a solution. I know personally even before this news came out I had my reservations on the mostly polymer slide to begin with and had asked them @ shotshow if they had any intention of coming out with an all metal slide version, but of course they wouldn't commit. As a side node about ShotShow ... When I talked to HK I asked asked if they planned on releasing the optics ready slide separately for the VP9 for folks like myself that already own one, do not want to buy a new pistol and are reluctant to take their existing slide and have it milled. They of course couldn't commit to a yes/no nor a date but they did say that idea is already being kicked around internally with a leaning towards that they would be doing just that at some point.
  17. yea because Sig has NEVER had a problem with one of their pistols before LOL If there are issues then I will wait until they get them sorted.
