  1. Ahh ok .. form their official press release: We will no longer sell assault-style rifles, also referred to as modern sporting rifles. We had already removed them from all DICK’S stores after the Sandy Hook massacre, but we will now remove them from sale at all 35 Field & Stream stores
  2. Did they even ever sell AR's to begin with ?... never seen them on the website.. never seen them in the stores... and that's in multiple stores in multiple states. Maybe you could have ordered them through them idk .. but with their prices who would have done that to begin with? Cant imagine they have a large profit from gun sales to begin with. Sounds like they are tooting their own horn there when there is no reason to toot it. Now i would LOVE to see the gun and ammo manufacturers start to fight back and say they won't sell to the states / PD's and government what they cant sell to the public. Not that they would ever do that of course, but that would be awesome .. oh .. NJSP you want to buy 30 round mags for your AR's? ... sorry the law abiding gun owners in NJ cant buy them so neither can you.
  3. Has anyone written up any thoughtful response we should all be emailing them with? like facts and figures and such and why they should vote no on such and such? Don't think an email that just states they are idiots and to leave us and the 2A alone would go very far .....Even if its true
  4. @AndrewS I love it there. I have a membership, so i take advantage of Sat and Sun mornings 7am to 10am where its members only. During that time frame i've only ever had to wait once and that was for 10 mins. During the day on the weekends are of course busier... so I usually try to stick to member only hours, but the longest wait i've ever encountered has been 30 mins. I haven't shot there on a weekday yet so I can't comment on those. Very clean, staff is very pleasant... RO's have been very nice and helpful if you have any questions. It's a longer drive for me, but I specifically became a member there because when I get a membership someplace I expect that to mean something .. and not just act as a "pre-paid discount" for range time. At RTSP with my membership I dont pay for range time. I guess it all depends on how often you plan to go shooting, but I tend to go at least once a week so either there or elsewhere such as GFH, Longshot etc, you need to calculate out how much your going to shoot and if a membership and the perks make sense for your given situation. GFH is a nice place too .. anyone I have every dealt with is very friendly and helpful. But just way too crowded for my tastes. GFH is closer than RTSP for me but I still go to RTSP. Once they open their expansion and have the 60 ports, then maybe that will help with the wait times and such.. i would hope so anyway.
  5. Anyone know what Luciano's FFL Transfer fees are?
  6. Welcome to the forums ... im only a member of RTSP and soon will be of ANJRPC/Cherry Ridge as well. I've seen a handful of posts from members of both OBRPC & SCFGPA so im sure you'll get your share of responses from both. I have yet to shoot at either but I hear good things about both of them. If you do a search for both of those you'll find threads with a lot of info on them to help get you started while your waiting for others to chime in here.
  7. Oh I see now ... that H line is already in whatever bill this is, from whenever this bill originally came to be. ... its the crap at the bottom that is the proposed amendments and/or changes. The way they write these things are so cryptic.
  8. A2759 ... Besides the rest if the text of it which of course is a load of crap ... "h. Stun guns. Any person who knowingly has in his possession any stun gun is guilty of a crime of the fourth degree." Didn't we just get this taken care of? now they are trying to add it back in?
  9. Some helpful tips ... 1) For PC users at least... pressing the Home button on your keyboard will move to the top of any webpage... regardless of browser being used. The end key moves you to the bottom. 2) Much easier to disable post notification settings for all posts in your account/profile settings.. and then simply click the "follow" button at the top for the posts you actualy want notifications on. Just some helpful tips to accomplish what you're looking for .. sort of.
  10. Of course he did... need to learn to read, write, type, formulate thoughts and sentences... if not the first internet post looks something like this: 7h4r8f7h&^FR#&^EG#YT8yHGD*&@^TD*#DOI#EYDT#&DE^G
  11. Don't forget "Hero" lol my opinion is call it what it what, eat what ya want and lets move on. Lots of lead to be putting down range instead of these semantics
  12. ha .. i call that plastic wrapped in plastic.
  13. Yes and most people call them bandages "Band Aids" which is a brand name ...Same scenario. Or just about all "cola" is called "Coke" etc. I agree its a stupid argument but to me it seems weird that if someone insists on calling it "pork roll" ... they get offended when people call it "taylor ham"... yet the Taylor ham folks dont give a crap what you call it as long as ya like eating it.
  14. yup same... its annoying but im so used to hitting f5 to refresh now after changing pages i dont even think about it anymore
  15. Well then hopefully most of them will start adopting this process to save themselves some hassle. One can dream.
  16. So is this only for those who need to go straight to the NJSP or will it also follow through to us bound to local PD's? That would make the process a whole lot easier to swallow.
  17. +1 on what was already posted above... but you are where i was 4 months ago. Although I had shot a handful of times before .. I finally decided to dive in and start the paperwork process and did so in November. Got my FID and permits at the end of January and im now officially a gun owner. RTSP is a nice place.. that's where I go to shoot right now... I have a membership as well. I Intend on joining Cherry Ridge as well in the next few months for some outdoor shooting as im interested in getting into precision rifle shooting. If you have never shot before you will want to go to a range that rents guns and give it a whirl first.. make sure its something you want to continue in. The biggest pain at this stage is in order to rent a gun at one of these ranges to try it, without having a firearms ID card, you need to have another person with you, you cant go by yourself. So you will need to find a buddy, brother, co-worker.. anyone to go with you. Then all you need is a driver's license. The paperwork process to get your FID and or permits is burdensome .. but worth it... just know to have patience as it will take some time. You would think in today's day and age it would be a more streamlined process .. nut this is NJ after all and of course they like to make it extremely hard to do so. Each town is slightly different with some of their procedures... but you need to download both form STS 033 and S.P. 066 form NJ State Police website here: http://www.njsp.org/firearms/forms.shtml My PD required 2 copies of the STS 033 and 1 copy of SP066. Fill them out with a computer, do not fill them out by hand. Some police departments wont accept hand written forms. Where you need to sign and date the forms... do not fill that out.. you will do that in person at the police department. Make sure not to lie on your forms Call your towns police department ID Bureau and ask them about coming in to file for firearms lD and permits. some Police departments do this on certain days and some by appt only. Also ask what forms of payment they will accept for them as well as some PD's wont accept cash, so you may need a money order. The FID is $5 and each pistol purchase permit is $2 (assuming your 21 or older). The FID allows you to buy ammo and any amount of long guns, but you need a pistol purchase permit for each handgun purchase and you can only buy one handgun every 30 days. You will need your drivers license and the forms and payment and you take that to the police department to start the process. They will give you a special form that you will then need to go online and book a finger printing session which will be about $58 and you can pay that via credit card at the finger printing location (they have a bunch all over the place) You need to supply two references on STS 033. My PD gave me two forms that I had to take to my references and get filled out and signed by them and then I had to bring them back to the PD myself. Some PD's I heard reach out themselves by mailing forms to the references or calling them. But once all that is done, then its just a waiting game. You are supposed to have a response back in 30 days as per state law but almost every PD drags their feet. Expect it to take at least 3 months. If you're lucky it will be sooner... but it could be longer as well. In my experience, the detective that i was dealing with at the PD flat out told me it will take 2 to 3 months. They say the hold up is the SP 066 Mental Health check and that it takes the state a while to get them that back like there is only 1 person per county doing that work. State government there so I wouldnt doubt it. If the PD tries to get you to do anything else on top of what I just stated... like a form for your employer to fill out or your spouse to fill out etc.. its illegal and they shouldnt be doing that. After all that is done .. down the road if you need to/want to purchase more pistols, you need more purchase permits and need to do this whole process over (minus the fingerprint part). But then they add a state background check that you need to go online and pay $20 for... and that is each time you go to get more permits. Big PITA, but worth it in the end. You will come out of this process absolutely disgusted with the state of NJ and its gun laws
  18. +1 for me as well .. new to the forums but this kind of bashing is totally uncalled for and childish. If some places prices are too high for you then take your business elsewhere. But this conversation and the opinions within them went overboard way too fast. Keep it civil here and save your anger for Murphy and the Anti-2A'ers RTSP Keep on trucking. I'll be there bright an early in the morning to get some range time in.
  19. 1. FID application + 2 permits 2. Kearny Police Department 3. Current contact: A detective - don't remember his name. 4. Time taken to issue the FID: Initial Application 11/8/2017, Fingerprinted 11/10/2017, References handed in 11/13/2017, FID & Permits issued Jan 31st 2018 - Total Time: 84 Days 5. Additional documents required by the PD: Standard app, mental health release, 2 references. I had to take the reference letters to be filled out and signed and then bring them back to the PD myself.
  20. Nice! ... on father's day 2013 I had the pleasure of flying around NYC on a B-17, "The Yankee Lady", with my son, who was 8 yrs old at the time. Flew out of Teterboro airport as part of a car show that weekend. We spent a good amount of time in the nose of the plane with my son sitting front and center with the best view. The tickets were not cheap and were a gift from my father-in-law, but i can say it was one of the greatest experiences of my life and if your interested in old bombers the ticket and experience is totally worth it.
