I was actually looking at another range, I am sooooo tired of the R14 BS. This range looks awesome, no required club meeting BS and no community service BS. I just wish it was closer to me, 65 miles is quite a hike, but it might be worth it if there is no time limit, and annual fees are certainly great compared to every other club.

Question about the family membership. Does it cover the entire immediate family or just 1 additional person. In other words, will $350 cover myself, my wife, my older son, and my younger son when he turns 10?

    Marty Z,

Member, spouse, all children (under 21 I believe) and living at home I believe it also includes parents if living under your roof. You just simply list them on your application.

... Do affordable summer homes still exist on the Jersey shore? I briefly looked and only saw tenement condos in Atlantic City. I'm in no shape to buy a vacation home, but it's nice to dream.

    302w,

Not sure what number you class as affordable, but the answer to your question is yes and no.

I live in Ventnor, just south of AC, (full time) 8 blocks from the beach and 1 block from the back bays. I was able to pick up a 3 bed/2 bath rancher for $240k which in my mind was a great deal. There are currently at least a dozen properties listed for under 200k with a number of foreclosures being listed in the area of 100k.

On the other side of the coin, If you want to live in the beach block, that is a whole other matter.  Generally speaking, you are going to need as an absolute minimum $1,000,000 just to have the real estate agent even show you a property with most beach block properties selling between 1.75 and 3.25 million.

Salty, is this sale still on? Just went to the site and saw the 10 round P226 mags for $44. Do you know if that's the sale price?

Dino, I believe the sale ended Sunday 22 July. I would try calling the store @ 603-610-3000  to double check.

Just moved to Glassboro from CNJ (East Brunswick). Range 14 is still an hr away but this place looks awesome, has great reviews on google (4.6), and appears to only be 250$ a year. The guest limit of 2 versus the 3 im used to sucks, and its 15$ per guest which is steep IMO, as i love bringing guests... is there a time limit? Does it get extremely packed IE waiting periods like R14?

    Steel allowed? At what distance?

    RO's cool or Nazis?

Thanks guys! Pretty pumped about this place. Its only 23 or so minutes away which is about the same as Walmart... lol

Great Club. Shooting 0900 till sunset xcept Sundays 10. Steel allowed at 25yds. plus. RO's Are good people and rarely if ever there except weekends. No time limits on range use other than simple courtesy. The $15.00 per guest is way to high IMHO $5-8 would be more reasonable, but it is what it is.

Your guest limit complaint I really don't have an issue with. I personally only bring (1) guest at a time and generally they are new shooters which you have to watch carefully. A ND from a guest shooter; the axe falls on your neck. I could never split my attention three ways and be comfortable, but that is just me.

I have been a member there for quite awhile now and have never had to wait, but then I only shoot during weekdays.

Here is a snippet from NJ law to recall a Governor....

Upon approval of the petition, the recall committee and other registered voters in the jurisdiction of the recall election will solicit the signatures of other registered voters in that jurisdiction. The recall effort is limited to 320 days for a Governor or 160 days for other elected officials from the date of the notice of intention. The petition requires the signatures of 25% of the registered voters in the jurisdiction, as of the last general election.

So we need an official petition signed by 25% of all registered voters in the PRNJ..........FORGET IT!

I have to agree with JohnnyB. Getting 25% of the registered voters to sign a petition is a pipe dream. Counting the number of registered voters  (5,759,295 as of 30 Nov. 2017) that would require almost 1.44 million signatures.

Sorry as much as I would like to spread around some Magic Pixie Dust and make it happen; it won't.

I kinda like it all, 3 gun is probably my favorite but I run the match so its to much work to have fun. Sporting clays is a really good time especially if the weather is nice, it's relaxing and challenging. Steel challenge is a ton of fun and really easy. The high-power rifle match is awesome but it seems I always have something else to do that day so I miss most of them, that match goes quick to so you get a good amount of shooting and your home in time for lunch.

Like I said all the matches and shotgun stuff is open to the public so check the website for the dates and come on out or if you want to get together during the week and do some shooting let me know.

    louu,

Thanks for the invite. I sent you a PM.

It's a lot different now, there are 5 big rifle/pistol ranges from 7-100 yards and a huge rifle range 50-200 meeters.

    louu,

Sounds like they have really expanded the place. What are your favorite disciplines to shoot?

Hi welcome to the forum. If you are or want to get into some competition shooting check out Quinton sportsmans club. We have 3 gun, uspsa, steel challenge and idpa, there is also sporting clays, trap, skeet and 5 stand all open to the public. There is alot of rifle matches too but I don't know much about them except for the high power match witch is a really good time, it's all knock down steel.

    louu,

    Thanks for the welcome.

I remember Quinton. I used to shoot skeet there every weekend, but that was a long time ago when I spent a lot of time in the Gloucester County area. At that time they had very little for the handgun and long gun shooter. A single 25/50 yard range if memory serves me. They had just built the new club house in front of the Skeet fields and just opened their sporting clays course when I left the area.

  9. Hello All,

Name is Jerry and while I hail from faraway places, I am on temporary long-term loan to Ventnor in Atlantic County.

I have taken the “Oath” and while the first time was many, many years ago I still live by that oath today. So, it goes without saying that I am staunch supporter of the Constitution, as written.

I do my shooting at South Jersey Shooting Club in Winslow Twp. A great range for those who have never shot there. On the civilian side of my life I began by shooting clay targets (Skeet & Trap) and only kept a small assortment of other hardware for home and personal defense. Since then it seemed that our country began to change, threats once only found on the other side of the pond seemed to be happening with more and more regularity within our own borders. So I dusted off some of the “Other Hardware,” joined the SJSC and started to bring myself back up to some semblance of competence once again. The problem: I was having too much fun. So from hitting the range on a once a month basis to maintain proficiency, I find myself burning a hole in my wallet on a weekly basis.

Anyway I just wanted to take the time to introduce myself to the regulars. I will listen a lot, learn when appropriate, and only speak when I have something worthwhile to contribute. And for those of you that might remember "Hill Street Blues" - Be Safe Out There!
