Not at all. I'm wondering if this is less than or more than other states with similar requirements. -

I'm curious- for states that have similar requirements, how much do they cost there? -

New online permitting system?!?
Heronimo42 replied to Gunnz's topic in Current New Jersey Gun Laws Discussion
I just checked Princeton PD and it looks like they switched over to this system in Feb 2019. I filed for new permits Jan 10. What I find interesting is that references can now be family members. -

I'm new to the gun world but going thru a similar comparison now. I have a striker fired poly 9mm now, want a SA/DA or SA 9mm. Looking at the p30 or a 92/1911. I tried them out at the range this morning and the 92 came out on top for me as the trigger just felt right and ergo's were good. My favorite is an HK45, so not saying anything bad about HK's!!!

NJ FID application data collection effort
Heronimo42 replied to nott's topic in New Firearms Owners Corner
So i'm now at 5 weeks from filing my application for 3 p2p's in Princeton. My references returned letters to police department within 48 hours of receiving them and they've already called my wife and spoken with her to confirm I'm not a wife beater nor a dead-beat. Everything else was completed and turned in at application turn in time. We'll see how much longer this goes on. I filed for my FID and 3 p2p's at time of initial filing in September 2018. -
No way am I getting an EV. Not with the pending EMP bomb apocalypse. Two wheels with a chain moving the back tire with a gun rack on the front, fishing rod holders on the back and a nice comfortable seat.

NJ FID application data collection effort

You know you're absolutely right. I'm new to this process, so I never purchased guns when all this documentation and permitting was required. They are following the rules and not requiring anything above and beyond the state law, and they are doing it as quickly as one could expect. -

not 8-9 months. My initial FID/Permits were approved last fall. I just put in for another 3 P2P's and Princeton PD sent out ref letters within 3-4 days of my application going in. They've been really fair and professional. -

Applied for 3 more P2P on 1/10/2019 in Princeton. My references received their letters on 1/17/19. I received my initial FID and original 3 P2P's in September 2018. Not bad turnaround for the Socialist Republic of Princeton. -
Thanks all for the help. I think i've narrowed it down to the RIA xt22 1911, GSG 1911 .22 or Beretta M9A1 .22 (even though it's an umarex gun, I love my Beretta APX). I'm going to try and shoot each of these before deciding on them. Thanks again for all your help and advice. Truly appreciated.

Thanks everyone for all the great advice. I'll definitely check out the GSG 1911 and the Ruger SR22 4.5" barrel. I believe Kimber makes a .22 pistol, but price wise it's a little high and not sure if I'm getting anything above and beyond other .22's.

Tips for new gun owners or anybody else
Heronimo42 replied to 70gto's topic in New Firearms Owners Corner
I'm a new gun owner and from reading this board and other's, watching videos online and reading articles- don't be afraid to ask for help! People on this board and others are very ready to help and pass on their experience. Take advantage of it. Also, out of winter boredom, I practice field stripping my guns multiple times, including cleaning before firing first time. I did this because I wanted to see what the main parts looked like new and have a reference point in regards to wear and tear, etc. I also explained to my kids how to behave around guns and to follow the rules of gun ownership. Over Christmas, we wen't to someone's house who shamefully had a loaded gun sitting on a nightstand. My two kids were wandering through the house, saw it, and immediately knew to treat it like it was loaded, don't touch it and to come find a parent immediately. My older boy took the lead and found me immediately. I was never prouder of him for keeping his younger sister out of trouble and he had an extra "good" Christmas this year. :-) -
Thank you! Not tied to that particular ammo- just thought that the heavier grain and higher velocity would help offset reloading issues. I'll gladly try anything that works for that gun. Cheap enough that I can experiment until I find the right one. Never thought about this! Thank you for the suggestion. I'll look into it.

My other two are a Beretta APX and an HK45- I'm trying to keep look/action in the same family for consistency in training. I think that Ruger may the default safe choice, just want to make sure I'm not discounting anything.

Hi All: Newbie, so please be kind. I purchased a .22 M&P Compact as my first .22. Purchased compact as my wife and son will also be training with this gun. It's a good enough .22, but it's just too small for my hands and I can't get comfortable with it. So looking for a full-size .22 for myself. I'm looking for something that feels solid and quality. I'll be firing CCI 40-grain high velocity ammo. Looked at some of the full 1911 style, don't mind the heavier weights. Any recommendations? I've read about the Umarex made guns, and while it may be a case of over-researching the internet, but thought is to avoid those. Large Ruger SR22 is in play at this point. Thanks in advance. Steve

two good reds I've had in the past week. $15 range- Iconic Sidekick Cabernet and Bogle Phantom (red blend). Both fantastic for the price.

download the vivino app. You can do a sort by price, region and read tons of reviews and flavor profiles. Great for the novice wine drinker. Plus, if you're at the store, you can take a picture of the bottle and it will give you an immediate profile, reviews and fair price for it.
