  1. Is this new or does anyone have any input about it? I know this is not the first one......... https://www.armsunlimited.com/Ambidextrous-AR15-M4-M16-Magazine-Release-p/au-amr.htm
  2. So looking to purchase my first AR, price range is <$1k. I thought I found a Colt M4 Expanse but sadly it was already sold, so now my options are the M&P15, some Windham and Diamondback Rifles, and I found a Troy CQB SPCA3 for $800. Anyone have any recommendations or know any stores which may have Colts in stock? Also still 18 so can't buy a stripped lower and do my own build.
  3. My parents live in South Carolina, and I have used a local FFL down there in the past to send up some pistols my father didn't want anymore. Recently that FFL had great deals on some "real" ARs. Most recently they had a Armalite Eagle 15 optics ready for under 500 bucks... I asked if they'd be willing to send up the rifle to NJ without the 30 round mag, with the flash hider taken off (with the threads exposed) and to send it with no stock (just left with the buffer tube) I was told he will not because the ATF could ask him how he made it legal before shipping...... Is he right? I told him my FFL would make sure it was NJ legal before transferring it to me... but he wasn't believing me...

  5. GAPP will be offering an AR beginners course on April 17, 2016 at Fort Dix Range 14. This course is the NRA First steps rifle course (specifically for the AR rifle platform). It is designed to introduce the new AR-15 owner to their rifle properly and safely. The classroom portion covers the history of the platform, disassembly, reassembly, cleaning, and aftermarket accessories... as well as the laws regarding rifles of this type. Several models are available to look at and will be used for demonstration in the classroom... and one can be provided for use on the range if you don't own an AR yet and just want to learn how to shoot one. After lunch, we head out to the range and zero your rifle... and see if you can hit a steel plate at 200 yards. The course length is approximately 6 hours and the cost is $180. If you're a new AR owner or if you've had one sitting in your safe for a while, come out and learn more about it. For registration info, go to http://gappnj.com/rifle/ar_beginners. The class size is limited so register soon.
  6. So I was surfing the net and noticed AIM Surplus had new BCGs. Anyone tried these yet? Any advantage of the Lighweight models or just all marketing? Looks nice....... Lightweight Nitride http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=XAIMBCGN3LW&name=Light+Weight+AIM+AR+.223%2f5.56+Nitride+9310+MPI+Bolt+Carrier+Group&groupid=723 Lightweight NiB http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=XAIMBCGNIBLW&name=Light+Weight+AIM+AR+.223%2f5.56+NiB+9310+MPI+Bolt+Carrier+Group&groupid=723 Evolution 3.0 Nitide http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=XAIMBCGN3E3&name=AIM+Evolution+3.0+AR%2fM16+.223%2f5.56+Nitride+9310+MPI+Bolt+Carrier+Group&groupid=723 Evolution 3.0 NiB http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=XAIMBCGNIBE3&name=AIM+Evolution+3.0+AR%2fM16+.223%2f5.56+NiB+9310+MPI+Bolt+Carrier+Group&groupid=723
  7. Can someone tell me if Heritage Guild in Easton PA allow you to shoot steel case ammo such as Wolf for your AR or AK?? I know RTSP does not allow it. Why I don't know other then they don't feel like separating the brass from the steel. Thanks, Bob
  8. so i came home from work today to find a nice package sitting on my front step. The next part of my Calico Jack build... my Spikes Tactical Billet upper. I have been looking for a upper to go with my Calico Jack lower for a week or two now and finally ended up on the Spikes Upper. I decided to go with the spikes because the look of it was just intense. I like the hard mill lines and overall look of it. Plus i kind of like having a matching "branded" receiver set. Anyway here are some pics. Next is to decide on the rail...... Seekins SPR3 maybe?...
  9. So i finally got to take "Krystal", my Umbrella Corp. build to the range yesterday. Robs609 and my self helped Firearms Training Sepulveda Firearms Training film some instructional videos at Shooters last night. While Robs609 got to shoot her more than i did, i was able to pop off a few rounds and give a quick test to the Umbrella Corp BCG and SSA trigger i installed yesterday. Rob, Kharis and myself agree... the SSA Trigger is where it's at! So much smoother and tighter than the Spikes Battle Trigger i had in there before. shot about 50 rounds w/no FTF or FTE with the new Umbrella BCG. More info on that after i get some more trigger time on her. anyway, here are a few photos and vids from yesterday.. check out that muzzle flash! lol Thanks to ROBS609 for being our designated shooter for the videos. anyway, thought we would share!

  11. Hi everyone. This is my first post and within the year purchased my first gun. I apologize if this is addressed somewhere but I can't seem to find direction or recent posts. I seem to be having issues finding a reasonably priced upper receiver without an A2 flash hider. Then I started looking for a barrel with compensator without much luck. How does everyone purchase them? If I were to purchase a threaded barrel and compensator with existing guns, how do I not run afoul the many laws of NJ prior to pinning/silver solder it. My assumption is you ship it to a gunsmith to affix. Any advice would be appreciated. I think I am missing something the forest for the trees here.
  12. Just got my first AR! Bushmaster Carbon 15. http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/80172 So now I have a question... I want to replace the stock gas block with a quad-railed one, so I can attach a flip down front sight, and a couple other accessories. Everywhere I go, it says the only way I can be sure of the size I need is to remove the current gas block and measure the hole. Is there any other way? I'd really rather order the gas block, and put it on when it arrives, only taking it apart once. And to be honest, I'm not all that confident I could accurately measure the hole. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Also, I feel I have to say this since you can't tell from the picture, that's a PERMANENTLY PINNED 15 round mag, NOT a hi-cap 30 round mag! Purchased from RifleGear.com!!!
  13. So i had been wanting to build an Umbrella Corp AR for a while now but never seemed to get on line fast enough to get the Upper and lower. well recently i had acquired 2 HUUCWR upper and lower sets and will be building the first of the two this month. The plan is to build a Close quarters medium range shooter. Something that would be an "every day shooter" and the second will be a longer range 300+ shooter. I thought it might be fun to have the forum members here chime in and make some recommendations on the components i might consider using for the builds... For the first rifle i'm currently considering the following parts: Lower LPK/FCG: Spikes Enhanced LMP w/ Gisselle Trigger Umbrella Corp Grip 23 Magpul Fixed Stock Magpul BAD Upper: Spikes 16" Mid-length CHF barrel (chrome lined) Spikes Charging handle w/Battle Latch Spikes Nickel Boron BCG Spikes 10" BAR Free Float Rail Troy low pro gas block Spikes melonite (sp) Gas tube Spikes Dynacomp break DD 45BUS some sort of HOLO sight or red dot sight Free free to pick apart my shopping list but be sure to tell me why you disagree with my choice and make a recommendation. One thing i am up in the air about is the barrel. I like the spikes barrel but i have been told that the Noveske barrels are much nicer... thoughts? Also i have been told that there is a Yankee Hill break that is more aggressive looking, i cant remember what one it is, but i remember saying i would consider it. Anyway, feel free to chime in with suggestions or recommendations. zap
  14. Just got my Bighorn Gun safe from Costco delivered. I have to say. I am impressed so far! The question is how am i getting this bad boy up the steps out of the garage..... i may have to call my brother inlaw and a few friends Here is the safe i bought: BIGHORN 19ECB DIGITAL GUN SAFE just under $650 delivered to the house... and since i had $200 in gift cards, i got her for about $450ish. I'll post some pics of it stocked when i get a chance. it's Still in the wrapper!
  15. Thoughts? What's the best bang for your buck AR under a grand? Uses are fun at the range and preparation for the zombie apocalypse.
  16. So I was finally able to get my m&p15 sport to the range yesterday. Man that was fun!! Only put about 200 rounds through it, but my pop and I had brought some other stuff we had aquired but hadn't fired yet. I'll admit im a bit of a newbie and have reverted back to having lady hands doing dentistry and not manual laboy any more, but damn, that barrel gets hot! Even the through the plastic forend. I def see the benefit of a nice set of gloves. I made the mistake of grabbing thre barrel about 5 min after the last shot and have some blisters to remind me to never do that again.
  17. Question regarding New Jersey compliant AR-15 part modification, particularly the stock and magazines. If I want to buy & pin a collapsible stock to fixed and a 30 round magazine to 15, do I have any other option other than going to a legal state such as PA and buying and pinning there prior to bringing back to NJ?
  18. Hey guys, I just did something a little out of character. Bought an AR without a lick of research. My local shop just called and let me know they got in 8 ARs today. $1200 for an SRC NY which I immediately agreed to. I didn't even know who made them until about 5 minutes ago. I "pulled the trigger" since they've been so scarce and I didn't know when I was going to get another chance. Did I make a mistake? I paid for over the phone and haven't even seen it! I'll hopefully get it today or tomorrow. My wife doesn't even know yet!!! lol Let me know what you guys think.
  19. Just to let the good folks know: ATI Omni Stripped Lowers are available at PalmettoStateArmory.com for $69.99 http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ati-omni-stripped-lower-receiver.html I just put in a order just now. Good Luck to all who can grab this deal! Kenny
  20. Got myself 3 http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ati-omni-stripped-lower-receiver.html
  21. Is there a legal issue if you purchase a complete lower receiver with a collapsible stock and have it shipped to an FFL and take ownership of it.. i would think it is legal as long as it is not put with any other "evil Feature" on the final build. Just looking as most complete lowers only come with the collapsible stocks.
