  1. so i came home from work today to find a nice package sitting on my front step. The next part of my Calico Jack build... my Spikes Tactical Billet upper. I have been looking for a upper to go with my Calico Jack lower for a week or two now and finally ended up on the Spikes Upper. I decided to go with the spikes because the look of it was just intense. I like the hard mill lines and overall look of it. Plus i kind of like having a matching "branded" receiver set. Anyway here are some pics. Next is to decide on the rail...... Seekins SPR3 maybe?...
  2. So i finally got to take "Krystal", my Umbrella Corp. build to the range yesterday. Robs609 and my self helped Firearms Training Sepulveda Firearms Training film some instructional videos at Shooters last night. While Robs609 got to shoot her more than i did, i was able to pop off a few rounds and give a quick test to the Umbrella Corp BCG and SSA trigger i installed yesterday. Rob, Kharis and myself agree... the SSA Trigger is where it's at! So much smoother and tighter than the Spikes Battle Trigger i had in there before. shot about 50 rounds w/no FTF or FTE with the new Umbrella BCG. More info on that after i get some more trigger time on her. anyway, here are a few photos and vids from yesterday.. check out that muzzle flash! lol Thanks to ROBS609 for being our designated shooter for the videos. anyway, thought we would share!

  4. Hi everyone. This is my first post and within the year purchased my first gun. I apologize if this is addressed somewhere but I can't seem to find direction or recent posts. I seem to be having issues finding a reasonably priced upper receiver without an A2 flash hider. Then I started looking for a barrel with compensator without much luck. How does everyone purchase them? If I were to purchase a threaded barrel and compensator with existing guns, how do I not run afoul the many laws of NJ prior to pinning/silver solder it. My assumption is you ship it to a gunsmith to affix. Any advice would be appreciated. I think I am missing something the forest for the trees here.
  5. Just got my first AR! Bushmaster Carbon 15. http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/80172 So now I have a question... I want to replace the stock gas block with a quad-railed one, so I can attach a flip down front sight, and a couple other accessories. Everywhere I go, it says the only way I can be sure of the size I need is to remove the current gas block and measure the hole. Is there any other way? I'd really rather order the gas block, and put it on when it arrives, only taking it apart once. And to be honest, I'm not all that confident I could accurately measure the hole. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Also, I feel I have to say this since you can't tell from the picture, that's a PERMANENTLY PINNED 15 round mag, NOT a hi-cap 30 round mag! Purchased from RifleGear.com!!!
  6. So i had been wanting to build an Umbrella Corp AR for a while now but never seemed to get on line fast enough to get the Upper and lower. well recently i had acquired 2 HUUCWR upper and lower sets and will be building the first of the two this month. The plan is to build a Close quarters medium range shooter. Something that would be an "every day shooter" and the second will be a longer range 300+ shooter. I thought it might be fun to have the forum members here chime in and make some recommendations on the components i might consider using for the builds... For the first rifle i'm currently considering the following parts: Lower LPK/FCG: Spikes Enhanced LMP w/ Gisselle Trigger Umbrella Corp Grip 23 Magpul Fixed Stock Magpul BAD Upper: Spikes 16" Mid-length CHF barrel (chrome lined) Spikes Charging handle w/Battle Latch Spikes Nickel Boron BCG Spikes 10" BAR Free Float Rail Troy low pro gas block Spikes melonite (sp) Gas tube Spikes Dynacomp break DD 45BUS some sort of HOLO sight or red dot sight Free free to pick apart my shopping list but be sure to tell me why you disagree with my choice and make a recommendation. One thing i am up in the air about is the barrel. I like the spikes barrel but i have been told that the Noveske barrels are much nicer... thoughts? Also i have been told that there is a Yankee Hill break that is more aggressive looking, i cant remember what one it is, but i remember saying i would consider it. Anyway, feel free to chime in with suggestions or recommendations. zap
  7. Just got my Bighorn Gun safe from Costco delivered. I have to say. I am impressed so far! The question is how am i getting this bad boy up the steps out of the garage..... i may have to call my brother inlaw and a few friends Here is the safe i bought: BIGHORN 19ECB DIGITAL GUN SAFE just under $650 delivered to the house... and since i had $200 in gift cards, i got her for about $450ish. I'll post some pics of it stocked when i get a chance. it's Still in the wrapper!
  8. Thoughts? What's the best bang for your buck AR under a grand? Uses are fun at the range and preparation for the zombie apocalypse.
  9. So I was finally able to get my m&p15 sport to the range yesterday. Man that was fun!! Only put about 200 rounds through it, but my pop and I had brought some other stuff we had aquired but hadn't fired yet. I'll admit im a bit of a newbie and have reverted back to having lady hands doing dentistry and not manual laboy any more, but damn, that barrel gets hot! Even the through the plastic forend. I def see the benefit of a nice set of gloves. I made the mistake of grabbing thre barrel about 5 min after the last shot and have some blisters to remind me to never do that again.
  10. Question regarding New Jersey compliant AR-15 part modification, particularly the stock and magazines. If I want to buy & pin a collapsible stock to fixed and a 30 round magazine to 15, do I have any other option other than going to a legal state such as PA and buying and pinning there prior to bringing back to NJ?
  11. Hey guys, I just did something a little out of character. Bought an AR without a lick of research. My local shop just called and let me know they got in 8 ARs today. $1200 for an SRC NY which I immediately agreed to. I didn't even know who made them until about 5 minutes ago. I "pulled the trigger" since they've been so scarce and I didn't know when I was going to get another chance. Did I make a mistake? I paid for over the phone and haven't even seen it! I'll hopefully get it today or tomorrow. My wife doesn't even know yet!!! lol Let me know what you guys think.
  12. Just to let the good folks know: ATI Omni Stripped Lowers are available at PalmettoStateArmory.com for $69.99 http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ati-omni-stripped-lower-receiver.html I just put in a order just now. Good Luck to all who can grab this deal! Kenny
  13. Got myself 3 http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ati-omni-stripped-lower-receiver.html
  14. Is there a legal issue if you purchase a complete lower receiver with a collapsible stock and have it shipped to an FFL and take ownership of it.. i would think it is legal as long as it is not put with any other "evil Feature" on the final build. Just looking as most complete lowers only come with the collapsible stocks.

  18. Bought a spikes striped upper off them great to deal with fast shipping even with a hurricane definetly recommend to anyone they're great to deal with.
  19. Well, I'm still kinda broke, but I was broke when I started looking at different components of my AR also, so I just figured I'd see what's out there. I don't care much for the old front-sight post on ARs, so I basically just have a railed gasblock, with a rail running down the length of the upper receiver/ rail system. I'm not sure if different sights are better for longer rifles than shorter ones, so any advice on that would be appreciated, but to be honest, the M14's front sights are my favorite, and that's sort of what I'd like to get, the flared barleycorn sights they have, but I'm not sure if they make those for mounting on AR rails. As for rear sights, I prefer peep-sights, though I'm not sure if there are better alternatives or not. So basically what I'm asking for is some education on... 1) Are there M14 style front sights for ARs? 2)Is it indeed best to have sights situated as far apart as possible, and if not, what should I know about putting them on? 3) What is the best type of rear sight? Any other pertinent information would be appreciated as well. I really don't have the cash for reflex sights or anything at the moment, and I'd like to have irons anyway, since I love shooting with ironsights, and I don't have to worry about keeping them powered if something happens.
  20. Hi All, So here is the deal. I went into the local gun shop today to order a mini-14. I don't own ANY semi-automatic rifles at all yet. That being said, i love the look of the mini-14 and i've heard some good things. I've also heard some, albeit not a lot, of unfavorable reviews. That that being said, with the cost reduction compared to an AR, (800 dollars compared to 1100) i figured it was worth it. Well, let's just say that everyone in the gun store disagreed with me. They were willing to order a mini-14 for me, but were still talking up the AR. Now, i really like the classic look of the mini-14. The fact that you can get it with a wood stock really appeals to me. Even the synthetic black min-14s look like somewhat of a more "traditional" rifle. In any event, question number one is: Do you agree with these people? Would it be foolish to purchase the mini-14 as one's first semi-auto rifle? Next... on to the AR-15.. There were a few different options. All of which are discussed in other topics on this board. I'm not here to ask the silly question of "which is best"? I am here to ask what YOU thought was best for your first AR-15 purchase and why. There was some big price differences. The M&P was like 700 bucks. The standard bushmaster was 1100. Then there was a new "Piston" AR15 made by ruger i believe.. that was somewhere in the neighborhood of 1200. Let's hear it! Best, BM
  21. By popular demand, figured it was time to actually stock some mags for people to get locally, at reasonable prices. We will be stocking, amongsts other things, NJ compliant mags, starting with AR 15 mags. To start, we have both MidwestPX modified Pmags, and Pauls (Arms & Ammo) metal mags. You can find them in the NJGF store. http://njgunforums.com/forum/index.php?/store/category/2-nj-compliant-magazines/ To launch the store, and to give folks the best bang for the buck and save some money, offering a group buy. Best of all, this will apply to both magazines, metal and pmags. Here is how it works. For the next week, will collect interest in the magazines, here in this thread. The more mags, the bigger the discount. Order in any combination, any color, any type. If we reach the top level, will post the coupon code here that when you order, will drop the price to the group buy price. You can either pick up the magazines from me in Princeton, or have them shipped at additional cost, either USPS or Fedex. Can also pick up mags from me at any of the local matches I may attend. The discounts: Will apply for any mags in the NJGF store. 0 to 30 Mags: $1 off per mag 30 to 100 Mags: $2 off per mag 100+ Mags: $3 off per mag Last buy we had over 100 mags, so this should be easily attainable, especially with both mags types here. PS: Extra discount for premier members when you do checkout.
