  1. Hi guys , quick question, I have a friend who I'd like to gift my long gun to , but he does not have a firearms ID card or a hunting license, can I still legally gift him one of my long guns in New Jersey
  2. I just got my FID for long guns, although I don't know anything about guns or ammo. What is a good gun to get my hands on that will help me learn more but won't break the bank, at the same time being ideal at home defense?
  3. Just to be clear, the 30-day rule between purchases is for handguns only, right? And that purchase would have no effect on buying a long gun? So if I legally used one of my handgun P2Ps yesterday, I could legally buy a long gun today and tomorrow and every day between now and doomsday and I'd be legal? I just want to make sure the rule isn't 30 days between "any" gun purchases. Thanks.
  4. I'm running a Hog Hunt at Mohr's Exotic Island Hunts in Bainbridge, PA on Friday May 1st. Have (3) OPEN SLOTS AVAILABLE! Cost is just $375 and includes field dressing by the Guides. This is a Guided and driven Hunt on a 150 acre island in the middle of the Susquehanna River across from Bainbridge, PA. This will be my 3rd Hunt with these nice folks. Hogs are good-eating, farm-raised South Carolina Pigs (no tusks). A great way to break-into Hunting since NO license is required! You can use virtually any gun or bow suitable for harvesting a deer. Hunter Orange vest and hat are required (an Upland bird vest does fine). Ranges vary, but best guess is 25-45 yards from the game, depending upon the brush conditions on the island. Interested parties please contact me here. Be advised we've advertised this availability in multiple locations, so this is strictly on a first-come, first-served basis. SAFETY is my number one priority, so a telephone interview will be conducted prior to your acceptance. Age range is well-disciplined teenagers on up to Old Farts like me. Full payment due at booking if I don't already know you. For photos and to verify that I'm not making a dime on this, please go to: www.mohrswidowmaker.com . Thanks in advance, Dave "Rosey" Rosenthal
  5. I’m very confused about an incident that happened last night. A friend's mom is a FL resident while he has lived in NJ for the past 15 years. Sometime over the past 3 years, she gave him one of her shotguns. However, they did it all off paper, because he didn’t know the laws regarding interstate transfers. He does have an FID card, so he is somewhat familiar with the laws here. That being said, he wants to be in total compliance in case he needs to use it for self defense, so that he doesn’t then get charged with illegal possession. I told him the proper procedure is to go with his mom to an FFL and perform the transfer there, with COE forms and NICS check, since his mom is out of state and cannot transfer him a long gun without going to an FFL. He called RayCo in Merchantville yesterday, since his mom is up visiting, and they told him that he doesn’t need to do it at an FFL and all they have to do is fill out a COE form. I had two blank copies already printed out from when I went to the Armory this past weekend (just in case I found something good) so he stopped down last night to get them. The section for “seller” states nothing about the seller needing to be a NJ resident. The section for “buyer” clearly states that the buyer must be a resident of NJ, otherwise the transfer needs to take place at an FFL. Am I misinformed about the law? Can a NJ resident purchase a long gun from an out of state resident in a private transfer with just a COE form and without needing to use an FFL/NICS? Even more concerning is that if I am right about the fact that all interstate transfers have to go through FFL/NICS, RayCo gave him the wrong information and he could get into some serious trouble, legally, because of it.
  6. In the next few weeks to months I want to get an AR style rifle. I am more into handguns, owning many from Glocks, rugers, smith and Wessons and sigs. I own a 12 gauge and Remington .270 for deer hunting. The only thing missing is an AR. I used to have a mp15-22 which I loved, but sold it during last years AR craze. Made a nice little chunk of change on the sale. I have read many of the forums and topics on building, mil-spec vs commercial. All informative, all making me more confused. It doesn't matter if my AR is mil- spec or commercial, but want it to be reliable. It will be used as a plinker, 50-100 yards, and if the need ever came around, home defense. Please let me know what you think. I wanna spend less than 700, and know I can pick up a mp15 sport model out the door for under 700. The forums are a great place for information and opinions so help a fellow shooter out!
