  1. Looks like a pretty good deal for a decent steel target with stand. Can always replace the target once you shoot it up. 3/8 inch. Regular price $80, on sale for $49.99 and free Prime shipping. Shipped and sold by Amazon so if it is crappy quality I am fairly sure they will stand behind it. Link
  2. I have my Aimpoint red dot zeroed in perfectly at 25 yards. I finally got the chance to shoot my second rifle outside at 50 yards. Red dot easily seen, but EVERY hole was a few inches above where the red dot was at. I know there must be a technical explanation on this and if I set my red dot below where I want the bullet to go it will go into the bulls eye. Is there a good site I can read on the technical aspects on how all that works? I didn't think a difference of 25 yards would be so great, and I certainly do not nor expect everyone zeroes their red dot all the time if they change distances. Just looking to learn and understand better.
  3. New in Box CZ 75TS (Tactical Sport 9mm) - Pre-Owned $800.00 plus NJ Nics (15.00) and NJ Tax Like New Condition, Low Round Count, Walnut Grips, Includes 3 Magazines.
  4. 25 yards using a small pistol target with only iron sites. Very first time on the range with it. I can count all 15 bullet holes. And boy do I love shooting the rifle! I won't deny my pistols trigger time, but it is hard not to want to shoot a powerful rifle. I ordered an Aimpoint micro red dot H2 for it. Comes with the standard picatinny mount but I'm not sure if the optic is going to be sitting high enough to clear my iron backup site in front of it. Either I'll just remove the front iron site or see if I can find a mount that lifts the optic up just a little bit. I like low profile and don't want the optic sitting up in the air, but heck, it may even be easier to shoot and won't have to put my head into such a position. Anyone recommend a good mount that will clear the Magpul backup sites? I was eye balling this one hard. https://ads.midwayusa.com/product/736329/daniel-defense-aimpoint-micro-t-1-t-2-h-1-sight-mount-absolute-co-witness-matte?utm_medium=shopping&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=Optics+-+Scope+Rings%2C+Bases%2C+Mounting+%26+Accessories&utm_content=736329&cm_mmc=pf_ci_google-_-Optics+-+Scope+Rings%2C+Bases%2C+Mounting+%26+Accessories-_-Daniel+Defense-_-736329&gclid=CjwKCAiAo9_QBRACEiwASknDwbpTqYnGV1VYCaga2oNUtKPdF42m2vMfXS7oTFfxiXwAwRU9WUaB3BoCf8MQAvD_BwE Anyway, here is the target. Practice makes perfect!
  5. I've always just hacked something together to shoot at when I felt like shooting. A scrap piece of plywood leaning on a couple of cinder blocks, a paper target stapled to a 2x4 post driven into the dirt, or a target taped to an old 5 gallon bucket worked fine. I bought a decent target .22 handgun for my 14 year old daughter to shoot several months ago and finally built a real target to shoot at. I'm interested in new ideas to improve my little back yard range and wondered what others here have built for themselves. Here's mine. The plywood slides into the frame from the top and can be replaced once it's shot-out. I'm using 1/4" luan but it will take up to 3/4" ply. The gongs are 8", 6", and 4". The spinner is an old one I built years ago that I could stomp into the ground re-purposed. Now let's see yours.
  6. Through all my research, posting, questions and answers I have received about choosing my firearm (FNX 45) and my ammunition (anything cheap, ) but I neglected to think about what I'll be shooting at while at the range. So, what do you shoot at? I know some of the range targets I've shot at don't really do a good job of showing what I just hit. Especially the all gray photos type that they had with the zombie on the back. Can't see shit with that side. KCCO
  7. I've been searching the 'net, our optics thread and pretty much everywhere trying to find opinions on this. My second AR build I'd like to keep as more of a target gun, 100-300 yds, longer if there were any place in North jersey to even do it. Originally I was thinking 4-16, but that seems a bit overkill for 300yds. Now I'm looking at the Nikon M-223 2-8 which has pretty solid reviews and is in the price point I'm looking for, I have to add the mount as well. Thining it might be nice to have a hair more on the high end of magnification I was also looking at the Nikon Monarch(which I believe is the basis for the M series). Monarch line offers a 2.5-10x42 and 50. I'm not concerned with the .5 difference on the low end, more whether or not its an appropriate fit for an AR and a good magnification for 300yds. I assume its a fine scope to use given its the basis for the M-223 line, but who knows. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Joe
  8. I am a new shooter. I took the NRA First Pistol course and I have been to the range 4 times. What type of accuracy should I expect (not from the gun but from me)? I have been shooting a semi-automatic pistol at 25 yards using a 10" target. I have shot a few hundred rounds. I find the best I can do is get about 7-8 out of 10 rounds on the target. I wear glasses and when focusing on the front site the target is not very clear. What type of accuracy does an experienced shooter get? Thanks.
