Anyone knows of a reliable gun smith or armorer that can swap a barrel on a S&W 686+ revolver? If you used them even better. Any idea on the cost to do the work? Obviously someone local in NJ as the first choice. Thanks for any leads.

I am interested in getting the opinion of people you have shot the Smith and Wesson Model 629 revolver in different barrel lengths. I have shot the 6" barrel and it was doable. S&W has it available now in 2 5/8", 4", 5", 6", and 6 1/2" barrels. The longer barrels are heavier guns so that probably makes them easier to shoot.. Are the shorter barrels difficult to shoot (feel, recoil, etc)? I am interested in hearing about shooting .44 Magnum cartridge.(I know that the .44 special cartridge is a different animal and easier to shoot).

Finally picked up my 686 4" and it's a dream to shoot! I should've bought this a long long time ago... SA trigger pull feels buttery smooth and this thing handles 357magnum loads like it's nothing. The huge fireballs are a big plus. Shooting high from the factory about 4-5" between 7-15 yards but it's dead on accurate One thing that I've noticed though, is that when ejecting the spent casings, there's ALWAYS one casing that gets stuck between the ejector star and the synthetic grips. If there was maybe 1/8" more clearance on the grip it would be flawless.... Is there a specific grip that will or technique that will allow that last casing to drop free?

Anyone have a 627 Pro (8-shot)? How does the size compare to a 686? I'm not looking to shoot competitively, so mainly just as a range toy/HD. So caught up in the slight variations and relatively small price differences it's hard to make a decision 686 vs 686+ vs 686+ Pro vs 686 SSR vs 627 Pro Maybe just go with the basic 686 and call it a day? Or are the other features of the + and Pro series worth the extra hundred bucks? 686+ Pro series... what a sexy wheel gun

I am looking at getting my first rifle. I will be using it for HD and for fun at the range (100-200 rounds per month). At some point I might get a light/laser for it as well as a red dot or holographic sight. I would like it to be NJ compliant out of the box and don't want to build one. I have narrowed it down to a Colt Match Target MT6400R or a S&W M&P15FT. They seem similar. The one difference I can see is the Colt has a chrome lined barrel while the S&W has a Melonite barrel finish. Although price is not a deciding factor the Colt lists for $1825 and the S&W for $1159. Why does the Colt list for so much more? I would welcome any comments about either one or even why my choices are just lousy. Thanks.

The K38 was called the Model 15 starting in 1957. This is a 5-screw K38, so it was made some time before 1955. DA pull is very sweet and the SA trigger breaks crisply. No endshake, lockup is good. Leaf hammer spring, pinned target trigger. Mirror bore. There is spotting on the finish on the side opposite the cylinder latch, but it feels smooth to the touch, so I don't think it's rust. If it is, it isn't very far along. Not a finish expert or a collector, so I can't give the finish a percent rating and I won't try to clean them up. You can inspect before buying, if face to face. $320 FTF. Must be NJ Resident, have valid NJ driver's license, FID, and permit to purchase.

Yes I have tried the firearms price request... Only Bullseye answered, props to them. Sku# 150987 smith and Wesson, it's exclusive to cabelas, but I figured why can't any stores get it for me from them and I will pay the fees??? Also, I did go to cabelas myself and a friend, but the cabelas salesman told us that they can't even sell that to NJ people because it has a 15 round clip, it has to be 10 rounds or less. So we said where does it say that in the law book? But then other salesman (3 or 4 others) jumped in and said yeah we can't sell that to people from NJ. So they win. I know for a fact gun shops here in NJ has the same pistol with 15 rd clip and selling it, but it's not the same two tone color I want. Anybody have a good solution for me? Please??? Help me find it

So JWglock23 and I went to RTSP tonight to test out his new 340pd. While I'm sure most of you know, this is an ultralight (about 11oz I believe) 5-shot revolver made of scandium alloy with a titanium cylinder. In general, I am relatively new to firearms. I have shot several pistols, but have never fired a handgun that shoots a .357 magnum round. Having said that - WOW! I could not believe how jarred I was by the kick. After 15-20 rounds, I had to switch back to .38 special to give my hands and forearms a break. My b*tching aside, that is a damn fine wheel gun and I loved shooting it. IMHO, it'd be a great deep concealed primary or solid backup (for those of you fortunate enough to be allowed to carry in this state). Once Bedminster PD processes my FID (71 days and counting), this may be one of my first purchases.
