  2. Bought the p226 Classic a few years ago, and have put off buying the 9mm conversion since then... I work hard, and have decided to give myself a Christmas present and buy one... I know shore shot has them, and I rather not give them my money, anyone see them sold local? Anyone seen a good deal for them online? Looking to buy ASAP!
  3. Been trying to start a poll. I don't think I'm doing it right. but I'm wondering the exact question of the title. Which 45 acp would you choose? Because I don't know which to get anymore. Sig Sauer 1911 Nitron Rail Springfield Loaded 1911 Parkerized Para USA Expert 14.45 FNH FNX 45 +/- tactical Ruger SR1911
  4. Waiting on a P2P and thinking about the Sig P220. Anyone have one and want to share their thoughts? Purpose would be home defense and range training classes. I don't have an out of state carry permit and don't plan on applying for one anytime soon so size/weight is not a consideration. I have never held or shot one, but I have shot my friend's 9mm P226 Blackwater Edition and I was very impressed by the Sig quality. I know the grip of the P220 will be thinner because it's single stack so I want to get my hands on one before I choose. I currently have a Beretta 92A1 which I am very happy with... but the buying itch has hit me again and I think the P220 may be a good choice for me. Also, if anyone in North NJ has a P220 and would be kind enough to let me put a few rounds through it I would really appreciate it. I'd be happy to supply my own ammo and meet you at the range whenever you're going to be there (not looking for anyone to go out of their way for me).

    357 Sig

Anyone familiar with the 357 Sig? Worth the trouble, or just get a 40? I'm a big fan of the 357 Mag round...but the Sig round looks a little goofy. I've also read it's a PITA to reload.....any truth to it?
  6. I've been looking for some alternate sights for my Sig P226 .22 Conversion since my 9mm slide has a Dawson fiber optic front and Warren Tactical rear. Since I compete in IDPA with my Sig I was looking for a similar sight setup for the .22 slide, which by default comes with 3 dot sights. The challenge has been that on the Sig .22 slide the rear sights have a different style dovetail to the standard Sig P226 slides hence I've struggled to find any alternatives. Sig P226 with 9mm slide (Dawson fiber optic front and Warren Tactical rear) Sig P226 .22 Slide with original 3dot sights SPDTools LLC I came across an older post on the SigForum from Scott at SPDTool LLC so dropped him and email to see if he'd be open to trying to make me a new rear sight that could work with a spare Dawson front sight I had and also provide a similar sight picture to my 9mm setup. Scott responded within a couple of hours stating he was willing to try and see what he could do based on a project he had started a while ago which was designed to work with the standard .22 slide front sight rather than the Dawson fiber optic sight which was a different height. He needed a couple of weeks to finish some existing work and then would contact me. A couple of weeks later Scott contacted me, and we worked through what I was after, the POI/POA and sight picture I was after and the actual height of the front sight I was using. As I was acting as the guinea pig we agreed it would be easier for me to send in my .22 slide and spare Dawson fiber optic sight so he could ensure the POI/POA was zeroed in to my needs. The round trip including the work, shipping time, hurricane Sandy and snowstorm Athena was just under 2 weeks and I had a chance to take the new slide to the range today. My current drills focus on drawing from the holster at the buzzer and shooting at a variety of size/color post it notes within a set time. First magazine through the new setup is below - shots fired at 10 yards. I am pleased to say the new SPDTools LLC rear sight worked well with the Dawson fiber optic. I found the sights noticeably easier to bring to target due to the solid rear and fiber front rather than 3 dots. I've included a number of photos below: Sig P226 9mm plus the .22 slide with new SPDTool LLC rear sight You can see the sight radius is shorter due to the design of the .22 slide. While the SPDTool rear sight looks different in profile to the 9mm Warren Tactical, when you actually look through the sights they are similar enough to work well. .22 Slide with SPDTool LLC rear sight and Dawson front sight Fluff on slide and sights in the photo was from cleaning slide post range trip with some cotton patches. 9mm Warren Tactical rear sight and Dawson front sight
  7. i have a problem with my sig mosquito. i purchased it last december and since have fired over 2000 rounds with no issues, until a few days ago. i am experiencing stovepipes and ftl's. usually at the beginning of the full 10 shot mag. i assumed it was the mag. i tested the mag loaded with 7 and the first 2 rounds are trouble. i tried it with 5 and the same problem. i only have the one magazine. also the same problem with different ammo. why would the first couple of rounds, regardless of the initial mag amount be problematic ? i'm really confused. any ideas appreciated !

  9. Howdy! Just got back from Media Day 2012 for Shot Show. Holy crap, what an epic day. Shot out to 960 meters with a 416 Barret, shot clays with 3 gun open guns, and $$$$ Browning shot guns, blasted steel with high end Sphinx IPSC guns, shot both semi auto suppressed Kriss Vectors, and Select Fire SBR Kriss Vectors, Suppressed 300 AAC Blackout S&W M&P 15 rifle? check. Wasted hundreds of dollars of Winchester zombie ammo? Check. Shot over priced HK, cause we're better than you rifles? Check. Shot the brand new Sig P224 and chatted with the lead designer of the gun? Check. How about a new pocket 45 XD Slim? Check. Chatted with Jerry Mucilek, Rob Leathen, JJ, Taran, Rob Pincus, and all the other who's who in the shooting community. Wayyyyyyyyy tooo much fun.
