  1. The holidays are here and "Yay" it is once again to go buy gifts. As a gun guy, while I certainly appreciate my friends and family trying to find something firearms related, it is most often easier to just say, "Just get me a gift card to..." Does anyone really want to be gifted a Hi-Point? In that spirit, I am going to share some of my ideas for what I think are pretty cool gifts for the gun guy or girl in our lives, that are not actually guns. The first one is the Fenix PD35 TAC flashlight. A flash light is always a good thing to have and a necessity while living in the boonies or on the job. While I have had my Streamlight for a while, I was amazed that you can get a 1,000 lumen light in such a small package. The Fenix PD35 TAC is a variant of the well known and respected PD35, however it includes a new "Tactical" mode in addition to the "outdoor" mode. In the outdoor mode, the light has 5 different brightness settings including a beam distance of up to 650 feet, easily covering an acre and a half. In the tactical mode, the light offers a very bright strobe which would easily make it a formidable option for a self defense package. The flash light is powered by a single 18650 or two CR123A batteries and comes with included o-rings and a holster. The Fenix PD35 TAC is IPX-8 waterproof, being able to survive being underwater up to 6 1/2 feet deep for up to 30 minutes. The Fenix PD35 TAC is priced around $70 and is available in the United States from Fenix-Store.com Specifications Uses Cree XP-L(V5) LED with a lifespan of 50,000 hours New Cree XP-L LED provides up to 251% performance boost from XP-G2 LED Modes of OperationTACTICAL FLASHLIGHT MODE Turbo: 1000 Lumens (1 hr. 10 min.) 2. As a gun owner in New Jersey I understand the mess of laws in the state. Now that I own milsurps I'm curious is it lawful to own bayonets not carry just own (of course). If it's legal what about taking them to the range for a photoshoot. Lastly I have a question about carrying a knife mostly as a tool of course I have a Swiss knife and I used that is my tool normally and for my understanding it's under the lawful purpose clause or whatever. I was thinking about getting 3.25 in pocket knife foldable blade not assisted in any way I assume lawful I don't know if anyone's had trouble with carrying knives New Jersey other than the few court cases that's still left the wall kind of vague like New Jersey likes it. I'll probably keep carrying the Swiss pocket knife but I find that the blade may be weak for some things but I do like it's simplistic size mostly everything I would probably need for my basic lifestyle. I'm sure carrying a knife has been debated a lot in this forum before but I haven't seen anything so if you have any links or just want to give me the simple rundown I'm fine with that.
  3. I am looking for a multi-tool that I can keep in my cargo pocket. They are already stuffed so I don't want anything too heavy or large. I already have a knife so I don't need any blades although I realize most if not all have one (or two or three). No need for a corkscrew, bottle openers, or scissors. I really want the pliers, wire cutter, a few small screwdrivers (both flat and philips), and if possible a 1/4" tool socket. I wouldn't mind a file but not a necessity. It is a shame no one makes a build your own tool with the basic frame where you could add your own tool selection. Any recommendations or am I asking for too little? btw: I already own a Leatherman Surge with bit kit. Great tool but too big and heavy for EDC.
