  1. Hi Guys, I found that information about New Jersey's shooting ranges was scattered (if even available) for the various public/private places we shoot at. Please lend me a hand by shooting me a PM with what range(s) you shoot at, and fill in as much of the information as you can below. You can use the blank one at the end to cut and paste into a PM (or a post on this thread) and I will update this post accordingly. Thanks for your help, and hopefully we can create a single source of information for all the ranges in NJ. 2. I’m in the process of applying for a gun permit and was told I need a letter from a doctor or pyschiatrist that holds a MD. Dr. Pirelli has been mentioned in other posts but won’t do because he doesn’t have a MD. Is there a doctor or psychiatrist that does this type of evaluation? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Hey there from Teaneck

Hello Everyone, I finally got my FID and 2 handgun permits from Teaneck PD last Friday and and super excited to say that I wasted no time in picking up a Glock 19 gen4 today from Luciano's in Lodi. I was really impressed with Joe over there. I began exploring the idea of getting my permit last Feb after a few visits to the range and let it sit in my mind for a bit. Then after seeing Ferguson and Baltimore riots on TV, I felt compelled to follow through. I applied mid-Sept. in Teaneck. Officer Daniel Garcia runs the ID bureau and I must say, he's really professional. Whole process took 2 and a half months which I guess isn't terrible compared to some other towns I've read about. Since I had only limited experience shooting, I did a lot of research and the general consensus was that the Glock 19 (esp w/NJ 15 mag cap. law) was the optimal choice for a novice. Needless to say, I'm really excited to begin my journey as a NJ Firearms owner. Now if only I could get CCW.... I tried attaching a pic of it, not sure if it worked.
  4. Backwoods Home magazine accepts 4 pre-1965 quarters for a 1 year subscription, value $24.95. I was wondering if anyone knows of a store (mebbe in Utah, they have that whole Constitutional currency thing out there) that would sell me a Marlin .44 based on this formula. I'm short on cash now but I do have lot of "junk silver"
  5. Hello! New member, did a lot of searching on this forum and others for an answer to my question. Looking to purchase my first firearm and, since I don't have a car, am trying to figure out how to get the gun to the range. Is it legal to travel to the range with a gun via public transportation (light rail, bus, etc) Does it matter if its a pistol or a rifle? Appreciate any help, at a loss right now. Thanks!
  6. Just got my Bighorn Gun safe from Costco delivered. I have to say. I am impressed so far! The question is how am i getting this bad boy up the steps out of the garage..... i may have to call my brother inlaw and a few friends Here is the safe i bought: BIGHORN 19ECB DIGITAL GUN SAFE just under $650 delivered to the house... and since i had $200 in gift cards, i got her for about $450ish. I'll post some pics of it stocked when i get a chance. it's Still in the wrapper!
  7. I arrive home from shopping, take off my gun which has been riding on my belt in either an IWB or OWB holster for the last two or more hours. My hip is sore but I go about my business anyway. Hours later, my hip is still sore. Sound familiar? Read More…
  8. Anyone have a safe ROOM and have it secured by a vault door? The following looked interesting. WEBSITE
  9. So, we all know how tragic this past weekend has been for Newton, CT. I send my prayers out to all of the families affected by the massacre. For us here in NJ however, do you think our local PD's will be using this as an opportunity to delay the FID and PP process even further??? Most townships here treat us as criminals and will wipe their butts clean with our FID/PP apps before they approve anything. I wouldn't be surprised if they did. Here in Linden, one forum user is well past the 200-day mark. I just past the 30-day mark this past Saturday, and I'm afraid to even call and ask on my app's status. My references have yet to receive their letters. I can just imagine the disgruntled attitude I'll be given for wanting a gun during this time. Only if I had disbanded my BS liberal socialist views when I turned 18, then I'd be swimming in firearms already... Times are tough.
  10. Hey guys, I've been wondering if it is legal in NJ to build your own gun (for simplicity's sake, we'll leave this at long arms). I'd imagine you'd need your FID and it'd need to be fully compliant with "evil features" game. I couldn't find anything specificying the legality of building you own weapon while skimming over the NJ Gun Laws Summary thread. I see that defacing a serial number off of a gun is illegal, but it doesn't say anything about already not having a serial number. I also see that a disassembled weapon is legally considered a weapon, but possessing and FID would make that alright. Under federal law, this is legal as long as the weapon is never distributed or sold to other people. Any thoughts, guys? PS - I'm talking about using a stripped lower that doesn't have a serial number or is considered the "main part" of the firearm since's it's just a piece of metal. Here's what I mean... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30i_6awxEG4&list=UUH4AvY-w65ytgB16oNS4iTQ&index=4
