Hello everyone, brand new to the board so let me know if I'm in the right subforum or if I can have this better answered elsewhere. pagunforums.com anyone? lol Can anyone recommend an FFL in Pennsylvania that will pin weld breaks, pin stocks, and also accept transfers. I live in North Jersey so anything in North PA with low FFL and gunsmithing fees are preferable. I am running into problems with a shop refusing to send complete AR 15s to NJ FFLs. Any help is appreciated.

I have machined a few of my handgun slides to accept a micro red dot. Currently there is a decent business available for machinists with the equipment to do the job properly. My question is. Can I accept slide only (no frame or receiver or other serialized parts) into my shop to CNC mill the slide for rmr? Or does this constitute being in the "gun business"? I have sent an e-mail to the ATF with this very same question but, I dont know when I will hear back from them. As far as I can read from any of the ATF frequently asked Q&A I can do such business. I could also for example make parts such as charging handles, handguards etc.. However, I dont want to be on the wrong side of the laws. I will not take any answer as an offer of legal advice. Merely asking the question to know if I should proceed with paying someone for a official interpretation of the law.

Some of you may already, but Howell Gun Works is a great shop. Omri and Tom break all the stereo types of the typical gun shop personnel. They are nice guys with vast amounts of knowledge and skill...They also have a nice selection and can pretty much get whatever you want...Definitly worth going there first... Plus $45 dollar FFL transfer NICS included... Joe Savio G S T Lead Instructor [email protected]

Anyone on the forums a certified Smith and Wesson armorer? I am selling my M&P40c, which has an APEX FSS trigger, and want to take out it and put back in the stock trigger. Matt from Shore shot installed it, he was a certified armor, but has since moved away from NJ.. I am decent enough to mess with my glocks, but don't feel comfortable enough to mess with the M&P. Thanks for looking.

I am setting up my home based gunsmithing business in NJ. I went in front of my towns zoning board and was approved to run this business from my home. What should be my next steps? Should I apply for my NJ license from the state police or FFL first? or should I apply to both at the same time? When should I set up my LLC? Thanks, Bob

My dad retired after 37 years of being a LEO and is moving down to South Carolina in a few months. When he first started working back in the 70's he had to purchase his own firearm. He used the Colt Lawman mkiii in .357 magnum. Because of the move, and my love for shooting, he said he will give me the firearm. Remixer will be handling the transfer, but does anyone know a good gunsmith in central NJ that would be able to inspect it and possibly reblue it? Though it's a family heirloom, it won't be a safe queen, I want to take it out, and I want to know its safe. He said he hasn't used it in over 30 years and I rather it not explode in my hands. I am located in Old Bridge if this helps. Thanks in advance for the input.

I am about to retire from law enforcement in the next year and was looking into becoming a gunsmith as a part time retirement job. How are these online courses from Ashford rate? How would you go about being a apprentice to a gunsmith? Can you get a ffl license to work out of your home in NJ or do you need to work for a store? I am very familiar with different types of firearms and am not looking to get rich doing it. Just a passion to keep me busy. Any advice would be very appreciated. Thanks..Bob

I was hoping someone could recommend a professional Gunsmith who can handle my Hi-Standard Model 103 Supermatic Citation Back in the day my Grandfather really loved pistol shooting and bought this beauty right from the factory and took extensive care of it because I see very little wear and tear on the gun My father inherited it and has passed it to me after I got my PID, but as it hasn't been used in 20+ years I'm a little iffy on using it I'm kind of equating it to cleaning a car (bad example but still) it is a heck of a lot easier maintaining an already clean car after detailing then starting from ground up cleaning all the nooks and crannies What I'm hoping for is a really good Gunsmith to disassemble, clean, oil, check/replace springs and replace the grips (too small for my hands); basically get the gun into pristine shooting condition so going forward I can maintain it I'm willing to drive to the best so any suggestions? Also just to let you know the picture does it no justice

Looking for someone experienced to install Meprolight Tactical Wedge night sights on my Kimber Custom Crimson Carry II. I'm hoping I won't have to send it to Kimber (as suggested by Caso's and a couple of other gun shops). I'm new to 1911s in general.. is there any particular reason why Kimber sights are so tricky to replace? Thanks all! Peter.

bought a new M&P Pro 9mm for IPSC shooting... very disappointed... trigger and sights are terrible... go figure, but Smith calls it a pro series... when pulling the trigger, it makes screeching sounds and moves jerkingly... shooting from the bench - aiming at a bullseye positioned at 15 yards, bullet hits the target 5-6" below and a a bit on a left side from the aim point... anyhow... i would much appreciate if somebody could recommend a good gunsmith...
