  1. As a gun owner in New Jersey I understand the mess of laws in the state. Now that I own milsurps I'm curious is it lawful to own bayonets not carry just own (of course). If it's legal what about taking them to the range for a photoshoot. Lastly I have a question about carrying a knife mostly as a tool of course I have a Swiss knife and I used that is my tool normally and for my understanding it's under the lawful purpose clause or whatever. I was thinking about getting 3.25 in pocket knife foldable blade not assisted in any way I assume lawful I don't know if anyone's had trouble with carrying knives New Jersey other than the few court cases that's still left the wall kind of vague like New Jersey likes it. I'll probably keep carrying the Swiss pocket knife but I find that the blade may be weak for some things but I do like it's simplistic size mostly everything I would probably need for my basic lifestyle. I'm sure carrying a knife has been debated a lot in this forum before but I haven't seen anything so if you have any links or just want to give me the simple rundown I'm fine with that.
  2. So I've got my FID and am looking to purchase a replica MP40 airgun for target practice. This is the gun in question I'm particularly looking at https://www.pyramydair.com/s/m/Umarex_Legends_MP40_CO2_BB_Submachine_Gun/4312 The gun itself is capable of full auto firing at roughly 450fps. It also includes a 52rd pellet mag. I've read up on the airgun laws and know that airguns are considered firearms under NJ state law, so does that mean every firearm law applies to airguns also or are there exceptions to them where you can purchase any airgun as long as you have an FID? Thanks
  3. Im looking at getting one or 2. I was told by a local dealer that you can buy one ,but you can't legally complete the milling in nj. Is there any truth to this? I can't find any gun laws stating this.
  4. Hi everyone, I usually buy my guns at a gun store like everyone else, however this weekend Eagle Arms will be having a gun show in lake harmony PA (about 1 hour from me) and I know that prices from both vendors and gun owners are very affordable at this type of shows. Here comes the question - Can I legally buy a long gun at an out of state show and have it shipped to a gun store in NJ for pick up? - I'm planing to go either way but it will be much more fun if I can purchase something. Please let me know
  5. I am in the market for a second handgun and have never bought "online" before. I think I have the process down but if someone could set me straight I'd appreciate it. 1.So I find what I want at the price I want online (I know gunbroker is huge but are there any other good, reliable sites?) 2. I order it online, pay for the gun and shipping to a local FFL 3. I call the local FFL to let them know to expect a handgun coming to transfer to me 4. When it arrives I go to the FFL with ID and P2P in hand, pay the transfer price + NICS 5. Walk out the door with my new pistol Do I have the steps right? I would prefer to buy local and help out the "little guy" but cash is a little tight right now and the pistol I'm looking at is going for $500 online (plus $25 shipping) (plus $35 transfer and NICS) so I'm looking at $560 out the door buying online vs. $550 plus 7% sales tax plus $15 for NICS at a LGS so $603 out the door at the lowest local price I could find. If it was a $5 or even $20 difference I'd eat it and help the local guy but $43 is a lot. I suppose I am also helping a local guy by paying them the transfer fee.
  6. hey guys, quick question, i applied for my FID a little while ago and have a little bit of a concern on how i may have answered one of the questions and more so how they would go about finding out the info. i had a slight problem with prescription pain medicine and sought the help of a doctor and am currently prescribed a medicine to control cravings called suboxone (it is a class III drug) i pay for all the visits out of pocket and prescriptions out of pocket. i am very new to the processes and the way questions are worded with NJ gun laws and when i was asked #25, i answered as though i felt no as was seeking help and not dependent, also when answering #26 about mental health technically i could have answered yes but i answered no thinking they are talking about people in one flew over the cuckoos nest... well bottom line is i called a lawyer to ask his opinion and the lawyer deff had an agenda and really freaked me out saying i will deff not get it and probably be charged for not telling the truth on my application but to save his number and make sure to call him right away with any problems.... how do they find out what medicine your taking or what doctors you see? especially if its a non insurance transaction? thanks guys any info or anyone with similar situations would be a huge help i am really upset about this :/ note: i had no intentions of falsifying any info and when asking this right now i want to let you know that i do not have the intent of being sneeky i really mis understood the questions i think, im just now (2 weeks later) thinking it mat be a problem it would just really suck that if getting help could be used against you
  7. Quick question: Are stocks that have an adjustable comb/cheek area considered "adjustable" for the so-called "assault weapon" restriction in NJ? Or is that only limited to those adjustable stocks as relates to Length? Thanks for any input!
  8. Hello, I have a multi-part question and I'll try to be a succinct as possible. I recently acquired a Pistol and Gun Permit in NJ. Hudson County to be exact I have a New York State License with my address showing a PO Box in New York City I work in New York City I live in New Jersey, Hudson County (most of the time) I used to live in New York State from 94-2008 at my parents I use to live in NYC about 2 years ago I want a New York State Carry permit as the states are so close to one another and I frequent both, and my parents and most of my friends live in NYS; taking my gun to NYS for target practice would be awesome. My parents own a house in NYS. Unless I have a fundamental misunderstanding of the New York law and English language, it seems that if I could prove that I also reside at my parents in NYS I might be able to also get a NYS permit to carry. It seems that if you have a business in NYS you can get a permit according to the site: http://www.co.ulster.ny.us/sheriff/criminal/pistol.html | http://www.nyfirearms.com/blog/nys-gun-laws/ Have any of you come across this or have advice? I seems states are acting on their own behalf and circumventing the Constitution. I don't get how this is legal to make it illegal to take your gun. Grrrr. Utah CCW course this saturday. Florida next. Thanks.
