  1. What training is acceptable? Instructions from Monroe Twp, NJ merely say "Written qualification must be within six (6) months of application and include Instructors Name"... I think this is really a bogus requirement. I think NJ can reject applicants by saying the training is insufficient. The qualifyin schools, such as www.shootingclasses.com ... seem to have a variety of courses. In summary, how do we know exactly what school and cert would qualify for a CCW permit? Thanks
  2. Hi Guys, I found that information about New Jersey's shooting ranges was scattered (if even available) for the various public/private places we shoot at. Please lend me a hand by shooting me a PM with what range(s) you shoot at, and fill in as much of the information as you can below. You can use the blank one at the end to cut and paste into a PM (or a post on this thread) and I will update this post accordingly. Thanks for your help, and hopefully we can create a single source of information for all the ranges in NJ. 3. Does anyone know if I can now apply for concealed carry in NJ? Very confusing. The form, "State of NJ - APPLICATION FOR PERMIT TO CARRY A HANDGUN..." appears to not have been updated. As an illustrative example, there's no mention about weapons training. And the form is dated "03/15." So how do I apply to carry a weapon post-Supreme Court ruling? And has anyone in NJ applied and been approved under the new Supreme Court ruling? Thanks
  4. As a gun owner in New Jersey I understand the mess of laws in the state. Now that I own milsurps I'm curious is it lawful to own bayonets not carry just own (of course). If it's legal what about taking them to the range for a photoshoot. Lastly I have a question about carrying a knife mostly as a tool of course I have a Swiss knife and I used that is my tool normally and for my understanding it's under the lawful purpose clause or whatever. I was thinking about getting 3.25 in pocket knife foldable blade not assisted in any way I assume lawful I don't know if anyone's had trouble with carrying knives New Jersey other than the few court cases that's still left the wall kind of vague like New Jersey likes it. I'll probably keep carrying the Swiss pocket knife but I find that the blade may be weak for some things but I do like it's simplistic size mostly everything I would probably need for my basic lifestyle. I'm sure carrying a knife has been debated a lot in this forum before but I haven't seen anything so if you have any links or just want to give me the simple rundown I'm fine with that.
  5. My father passed away a few years ago, I had an incident having to do with domestic violence in which they confiscated all firearms at my home (not mine). However it has been resolved and I was not at fault and neither were the parties of the aforementioned firearms. Question is, these two firearms are still in the possession of my local police department - how ever the owner of the firearms is no longer with us, what’s the route to take with that situation? I assume I can get a firearms license and take them but what if I don’t currently hold one? How does this property change hands? Do they destroy it and pay me? I’m just unsure. The two firearms in question are a glock 36 and a 357. This is of course in NJ, lol.
  6. Trying to answer a question for a relative living in NY. Can a NY state resident who lives 100 % of his time in NY state and does possess a NJ FID card (with a NY address) purchase from an FFL in NJ. Drivers license is also NY state. My guess is he could but it would need to be shipped to an FFL in NY. Thanks
  7. In light of the poor ruling against the 2nd Amendment today by the 9th Circuit court, the Almeida / Tumminelli v. NJ case moves forward and will be filed at the Federal Courts in Newark on Friday, June 10th 2016 by the law firms hired to move the case forward. The 3 law firms involved are out of Pennsylvania, Mississippi and California. The details of the complaint, law firms involved and updates will all be made public for your viewing after the approval on the release of such is obtained by the lead attorney. This case is being funded 100% by us, the laypeople (we, the people) and their supporters. To learn more, visit the Party of Six on their FB page or at www.partyofsix.org Thank you, Albert Almeida no quarters given
  8. Just to be clear, the 30-day rule between purchases is for handguns only, right? And that purchase would have no effect on buying a long gun? So if I legally used one of my handgun P2Ps yesterday, I could legally buy a long gun today and tomorrow and every day between now and doomsday and I'd be legal? I just want to make sure the rule isn't 30 days between "any" gun purchases. Thanks.
  9. So let's pretend I moved out of nj and I legally owned a pistol. IF I moved to NY and don't have a permit there yet and my pistol is still at my old residence in NJ, can I legally sell or trade my pistol? I now have traded my NJ drivers license for a NY one but haven't changed my address through the post office yet. Even if I wanted to bring my pistol to an FFL to hold, am I still legally allowed to transport it?
  10. Hello all. I was hoping to get the opinion of the forum on my situation... I legally own several handguns in NJ. My job has forced me overseas temporarily. Due to NJ being a ridiculous state, my wife and I have decided that we are going to make our permanent residence in the US somewhere other than NJ (likely Vermont). Is there anything I must do in order to legally take my guns with me out of NJ? I know VT is pretty relaxed with their laws compared to NJ, but I wanted to get the opinion and advice from NJGF as it has provided me with a wealth of knowledge and tips since I bought my first handgun a couple years ago. I appreciate any feedback. Thank you very much!
  11. Tomorrow I am having my 18" barrel Tavor pinned/welded with a muzzle brake. The barrel is threaded and it has an inoperable bayonet lug (wings shaved off). After replacing the flash hider with a muzzle brake, and pinning/welding it onto the threaded barrel, will it finally be gtg according to the state of NJ? Thanks for everyone's help on this. Greatly appreciated.
  12. Hello, I am new to this forum board. Nice to meet you all folks. Anyways, a dear friend of mine bought an air rifle as a gift from an online retailer (Pyramyd Air, Amazon, etc; don't remember which one). From what I was told, it never used to work, but apparently, she said it works now and the air rifle is already on its way to her relative's house in NJ (the relatives and her are still residents of Vermont and will change residency soon). When she found out the absurd law of air rifles need FID card also, she called the online retailer numerous times to cancel the delivery and order. However, it's already on the way to relative's house. Her relatives has the option of "rejecting" the package and sending it back the same day unopened. Should her relatives just reject it or just keep it? They don't want any trouble in the future or anything, but would like for me to give them an opinion as they trust me. From what I understand, the retailer should not be able to allow orders to NJ for air rifles? Thank you very much. I look forward to hearing your opinions.
  13. The weather was as changeable as the gun haters' rhetoric. It started cloudy, then the sun came out, then it rained. First, they said they want to ban so-called assault weapons, then they said they don't want to take our guns. Not once did they express a concern for liberty, the most precious value. So it went in Morrisville, PA on May 11, 2013 at the Pre-Mother’s Day March against Gun Violence. http://theinternationallibertarian.blogspot.com/2013/05/in-gun-grabbers-faces-counter.html
  14. Hi all this will be my first created thread and i felt like this is bothering me so what better place to get it off my chest than this forum. As you can see from my signature I am new to purchasing firearms and have yet to even be printed until next week. Let me first state that i am 26 and nobody in my immediate family is a gun owner, we have all lived in cushy suburban neighborhoods for my whole life at least. Sooo, making the long story short, I moved out a couple years ago and, over the years, went to the range 3 or 4 times with my brother-in-law who is a local LEO and firearms instructor. I became very interested in shooting his glock 22 and 26 and decided i would start this rediculous FID process in NJ. Every so often I started mentioning it to my parents, grandparents, sisters, uncle , you name it. I would gradually ease it into conversations and let them know i am intending on exercising my 2nd amendment right. Well, let me just tell you guys i had no idea some of my family thought i shouldnt have a gun because i play first person shooter video games and am an avid paintballer and "its dangerous" or "i'll shoot somone". My dad even went so far as to say "Your not trying to get a gun to do anything extreme are you?" Obviously I was shocked and somewhat offended. Other comments from family members were typical as you could imagine. I wont list them but here are a few randoms....."Why do you need a gun?".... "You never wanted one before why do you now?"..."Why do you care how long your permits take you will have them eventually?"....or....."No Grandma, the police will not always be standing behind you to help"......etc. What is everyone's issue? my argumentative statement to them is always "stop being intimidated or afraid of firearms and instead know how to safely operate them and respect them in general, you don't know when that particular skill may save your life" Anyone else forbidden to bring up guns at family functions for fear of retribution? I'd imagine for some of you its a regular dinner table convo. Thanks for sharing your experiences and comments, or what you have encountered yourself

  17. NJ ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE TO CONSIDER SCHOOL GROUNDS PENALTY INCREASE Possession of all BB guns and air guns would carry 7-10 year prison sentences with no possibility of leniency. Parents picking up their children at school after hunting or target shooting would also be at risk. Victim disarmament zones would be ensured. On Thursday, June 7 at 2:00 p.m., the New Jersey Assembly Law & Public Safety Committee is scheduled to consider A1216, legislation that would increase the penalty for possession of a "firearm" on the grounds of an educational institution, raising it from a third to second degree crime. Second degree crimes carry a presumptive 7-10 year prison sentence and a fine of up to $150,000, with no opportunity for New Jersey's "pre-trial intervention leniency program, and very limited sentencing discretion by the judge. New Jersey's definition of "firearm" includes all BB guns and air guns, even though they are commonly regarded as toys in much of the country. Someone who mistakenly possesses a BB gun or air gun on school grounds - even a broken one - would be subject to the lengthy and unforgiving prison sentence that A1216 imposes, with no possibility of leniency, and a presumption in favor of imprisonment. Also, parents picking up their children at school after hunting or target shooting, or to go hunting or target shooting, would also be at risk of A1216's draconian punishment if they enter on school grounds with a firearm unloaded and properly stored in their vehicle, even though they are not involved in criminal activity. This thoughtless legislation also virtually ensures that New Jerseyschools would become victim disarmament zones - even teachers licensed with gun permits would be subject to lengthy incarceration, chilling their right of self-defense to protect themselves and school children from attack. Ironically, A1216 is a "solution" to a problem that has already been solved. Firearms possession for an unlawful purpose is already a second degree crime in New Jersey, so this legislation adds nothing except cruel and unusual punishment for innocent mistakes. PLEASE IMMEDIATELY CONTACT MEMBERS OF THE ASSEMBLY LAW & PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE AND TELL THEM TO VOTE "NO" ON A1216!
