    Walther PDP

Just wondering if anyone's seen these out in the wild yet or knows what the ETA should look like. I have a permit I'd like to use before it expires. Thanks.
  3. Picked up a Walther PPQ Q5 Match. Sweet! But I always like the M1 because of the paddle magazine release. Sooo, I bought a PPQ Classic and switched the uppers. Both the original trigger pull of the Q5 and the Classic averaged 4lb-15oz according to my Lyman Digital Gauge. Take-up was about 0.5" and reset to about 0.25". Not satisfied with that, although it is better than any trigger out there other than a 1911, I installed the Apex Flat-Faced Forward Set Trigger. Take-up was reduced to about 0.25" and reset to about 0.15". Trigger pull now averages 4lb-9oz. One more tweak to be done with a lighter trigger spring and I'll be set. Oh. And I upgraded the mags to 17 rounds and also installed the Leupold Delta-Point Pro. I likes it.
  4. I get emails from Davidson's and other distributors. This week they are having a special on HK P30L in 40 S&W for $469. Assume + shipping + dealer markup. Also seems like a deal? on M9A3. Also, the Walther Creed is $249. This was actually a really nice gun when I got to play with it at Shot Show. Surely better than the lower end Smiths, etc.
  5. Attention all Walther PPQ M2 5" seeker's... Model# 2796091 is being replaced with the new 5" they are calling the "Standard" Model# 2813734. The only real change is it will no longer have the cool ported slide, so get them quick if it's on your list. The old one has already been taken off the Walther website. See the new standard PPQ M2 here: http://www.waltherarms.com/handguns/ppq/ppq-m2-5inch-standard/ Ported PPQ Porn: http://www.lockharttactical.com/media/com_hikashop/upload/ppq-m2-tactical-22-lr-5-inch-10-round--2_11301755_lockhart-tactical.jpg *Image link above since it seems I'm at my attachment cap? What gives?
  6. Passing along some great promotion news from Walther Arms I came across on the Walther forums. Pictures are not mine, just re-posting so not sure what magazine they came from. http://www.waltherforums.com/forum/walther-general-discussions/79770-100-walther-rebate-june-1st.html $100 rebate applies to the PPQ & PPS product lines (Q5 Match Excluded) purchased from June 1st, 2017 to September 15th, 2017. Promo site not yet functional as of 5/28 but here it is: http://www.waltherarms.com/Rebate100
  7. Just wanted to pass along some good deals I found on a variety of Walther PPQ's over at http://GunBuyer.com PPQ M2 9MM 5" BARREL 15 ROUND BLACK (#2796091) @ $557 PPQ M2 9MM NAVY 4.6" BARREL 15 ROUND BLACK (#2796082) @ $537 PPQ M2 9MM 4" BARREL 15 ROUND BLACK (#2796066) @ $494 PPQ M1 9MM 4" BARREL 15 ROUND BLACK (#2795400) @ $479 Free Shipping & No Tax!
  8. Was chatting with a buddy of mine at the range, who owns both pistols, and prefers the Walther PPQ just slightly over H&K VP9. Never shooting the H&K VP9, I was surprised by his observation due to H&K's rep. But his view was just that: people love VP9 over PPQ due to the "hype" and "rep" of H&K. Full disclosure: he is a H&K fan and loves his VP9. Question to those who shot both: forget brand name, which do you prefer and why?
  9. Okay, I'm getting pumped for Black Friday and figured I could use some help from the community on setting my expectations for the kinds of deals I'm likely to see. Here's a list of stuff I'm in the market for... would appreciate some feedback on what stores I should be looking at and what kind of pricing to look for for each item. 1. a basic Ruger 10/22 (to teach the kiddos) 2. a fire-rated 10-24 gun size safe 3. a Walther PPQ M2 5" in 9mm (hard to find in stock lately) 4. a Mossberg 590A1 shotgun (missed the recent deal at PSA)
  10. Just found this article in my email this morning. I don't own one but I figure a few of the members might. http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/forums/posts.aspx?postID=34451&utm_source=EmailDirect.com&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=20121005-Chronicle-Vol1Iss11+Campaign

    Walther PPS

Yesterday I picked up another family member. This time it was the Walther PPS in 9mm. The PPS will be my CCW firearm for out of state travel, particularly with the warmer weather approaching. For other times where clothing allows I will continue to use the PPQ for CCW. One of the reasons for choosing the PPS over other competitors e.g. M&P Shield, Nano etc is that it has a similar magazine release design to the Walther PPQ, which helps make it easier to switch between PPQ, PPS, HK45 etc. Photos PPS with the 6, 7 and 8rnd magazine. Brief Review The PPS was collected yesterday and taken home where it was field stripped, cleaned and relubed. The only modification to date was the addition of some grip-tape to the grips as a temporary measure for indoor shooting. I will likely get a 'limbsaver' to try as these are recommended on the Walther Forum. The firearm is easy to field strip, Glock-like with the need to pull the trigger. I don't have any issues with this however others may dislike this. The PPS is very narrow (0.91" excluding slidestop/takedown, or 1.04" including). I find it comfortable to hold and have fitted the larger replaceable backstrap. The 8rnd magazine is most comfortable for use followed by the 7rnd. The 6rnd magazine means no pinky finger which some may find uncomfortable or different. For CCW IWB with a 6rnd and a 8rnd spare magazine I believe it is a good contender. It is a little too large for standard pocket carry unless you have large pockets! With such a short slide and recoil spring, racking the slide back takes more effort than the PPQ, however doesn't seem to be a major issue. The trigger is heavier than the PPQ, being ~6.1lbs. I am expecting the trigger to settle down after a few hundred rounds. I shot 150 rounds today, a box of each of the following: Winchester Ranger 9mm Luger: 124gr FMJ NATO (RA9124N) Speer Lawman 9mm Luger: 124gr TMJ (53651) Federal American Eagle 9mm Luger: 124gr FMJ (AE9AP) No failures at all in the 150 rounds, which is excellent news. The recoil was manageable even with the hotter Speer Lawman round. I will be trying some Speer Gold Dot +P in the near future. I was only shooting at 5yds and 7yds for this first session, however the ease with which I could group bullets < 1" was uncanny. Bullets outside my groupings typically were hitting low (directly at 6 o'clock) which is predominantly a result of the stiffer trigger than I am used to. There was almost no flyers to the left, unlike for example with my HK45 where the flyers are typically at 7:30 rather than 6 o'clock. Accessories ordered: A couple of additional magazines Theis IWB holster Meprolight Night Sights Summary: After 150 rounds I am very very pleased with the PPS, it shot far more accurately than I was expecting considering its small size. The recoil was also less than expected. The only area where I am hoping to see some improvement is the trigger, which is a bit heavier/stiffer than I would like. As usual, Walther magazines are fairly pricey ($40-$45) hth TheWombat
