Value of Colt LE6920 NJ compliant

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Short story is, yes, I am in the unfortunate position to sell one or all on these that really have just been collecting dust in my safe due to financial reasons. I didn’t want to turn this into a for sale thread so was vague about ownership.

In any event, if you take a look at the pic you can see how these are configured. If memory serves me correctly they are all variants of Colt LE6920 platform, top and middle were purchased from RTSP about 2-3 years ago and the bottom one was purchased from Mastadon about 6-7 years ago. Compliance work was done by each of those shops.

I am really just trying to get an idea of the market as it has been a while since I have purchased anything, any advice is appreciated.

I would venture to say these were colt uppers mated to colt lowers.  too many 'moving' parts here.  All Colt will command more, 14.5" barrel set ups the most.  Top one may be the magpul addition done by unlimited arms.  Bottom ones look like builds to me

bcg, ch, upper receiver colt?

All parts are Colt, they were purchased as complete rifles, magpul furniture has been swapped out here and there on top and bottom. The exception is the middle rifle which is stock and was some type of "FBI" variant of LE6920...it has troy hand guard and sights which was OEM kit.

Enjoy reading your replies Rutgers95, would love to sit and have a beer with you.

anytime!

The lower is where the value is.  Most Colt people will ditch the magpul rear sight and go with matech or kac.  Like I said earlier, Colt uppers, non socom, are not in high demand due to not being socom and because Brownells is pimping them out.  Even on AR15.com they are running 550ish and they will not move like lightning.

what length barrels are these?  16?

Top one will sell for 1-1100 for 16" barrel

middle will sell for 1250-1350 as the hot fbi button is the new FBI variant, short barrel, Geiselle rail etc..This one is a 16" model and was an overrun.  I do recall this batch on the hive but they don't sell often.  You'd need a Colt guy that wants to collect it to drive the price

bottom more or less the same as the top.

Only the middle has cache but like I said, the lowers are where the value is.  These are selling 5-600.  Quick search on gunbroker shows any over that price with no bids.  you need something to make them 'special' and these look standard.

just my opinion

I agree with the pricing stated.  although I think when more people see the new colt cr6920 or whatever they call it, these will go up in value.   I'd love to buy the top or Bottom one off of you for a dissipator build but no free $$$ right now

CR is only the new prefix with carbine designation, nothing else has changed.  I definitely want one of the new lowers.  A lot of people still prefer the LE prefix but that is the traditionalists.  Colt has resumed selling, or set to, to civies so pricing will subside somewhat all things being relative of course:)

nothing else has changed on paper.  but Ive seen plenty of pictures that make me think they are just subcontracting them out to a cheaper bidder.   I think I need to see a bigger group.   they also say "carbine" and no longer say "m4 carbine" on them

yes they dropped the m4 in front of the carbine.  I don't know about subcontracting as there has been long discussions on this over at arfcom with some saying yes and other rep connected saying no to 95% of it.  We know the BCGs are AO and at times green mountain has made the barrels but I do know the lower parts are now all Schuster (however you spell it).  Uppers, lowers, barrels, etc are all in house at present but things change.

I like the new lower and definitely want one but not giving up my LE prefix ones except 1 restricted I'm going to sell.

I'm a Colt fan, not a fanboi as I like the LMT offerings the best for any AR platform.  I do get special pricing there when stuff is in stock.:):):)

As a follow up, I took these to a local shop and they made me a very low offer of $1300 for all three. Needless to say I passed. Guess I will just hold on to them for now or look to do a local private sale for each one, but have no idea how to do that, any advice? I assume a for sale ad here would be a good start and then I think we meet at a shop that can do the FFL transfer, correct?

You are correct!  Just join our community as a premier member to be able to sell here.  $1,300 is ridiculous for all 3!

RTSP in Randolph

wow....unbelievable.  I recommend going to Howell Gun Works, they will do it consignment and he sells a lot like that.  In fact, on his fb they are gone before you refresh many times.

full disclosure, have never used his services, not affiliated but I see what I see

Can you pm me that thread from arfcom?  I’d love to see more pics.

And they dropped the Colt name from the roll mark.

here is a good write up

https://www.militarytimes.com/off-duty/gearscout/irons/2020/02/07/colt-is-back-sort-of-this-time-with-an-updated-version-of-the-us-military-m4-rifle/

still says colt defense but yes, they dropped stamped 'colt' and the M4 and kept the rollmark however, the way they do the rollmarks have changed and that occurred 2018.

I think they are trying to save money and streamline production given the loss of military contracts.  Dumbest move was marketing and aggressively selling the CCU.  That was a nice rifle and regret not getting one.

prefer the ccu but will get one of these eventually.  They will come down once this subsides in a year or two..lol

I've always been a fan of the colt 6920.  I think its a better gun than most at the sub $1k range.   but I think once you start getting over $1200 or so, you are probably getting into BCM territory.  $2k is crazy.

I really want an older LE6920 to turn into a colt dissipator one day.

Thats funny as bcm bills themselves as colt like.  I will say this that you have to really drill down and specialise your firearm to have a better rifle than a cold. There is no other weapon that has shot more in more environments under as many adverse conditions and still clicks .

Henderson's in Vegas has really been able to quantify a lot of the parts on the colt platform. Although in recent years other parts have been doing fairly well also

Yes 2k is nuts!!!!!

im just saying BCM because then you have options.   it's like the colt is the base model.  but if you don't want a standard M4 or to use bolt on KAC, DD or Centurion rails with the stock barrel nut, something like BCM would be a more customizable option than upgrading those things on a colt.

yeah this is why the internet is dangerous as it gives morons a louder voice.  Some valid concerns but way too much conjecture and he lost me at the cage code discussion.  I think he's halfwit.......

Colt hasn't laid off any union guys yet so that should end this discussion.  The 'I' isn't because it's outsourced either.  just retarded
