Is it possible to remove the "L" and arrow from a S&W revolver?

I know its common to remove the lock and plug the hole, but that still leaves you with the unsightly "L" and arrow. I assume this is some kind of laser etching? Anyone ever try to remove this from the frame? If so what was your method and what kind of results did you have?

I am not sure how easy that would be. It would probably be a lot easier to buy a pre-lock S&W revolver. To me the pre-lock revolvers are far better than the current models. I still buy S&W's with the locks. The look doesn't bother me.

It is not laser etched, it is a roll-mark and relatively deep. Would devalue the gun more trying to polish it out than it would to just leave it be.
