What is interesting is "gun control" was NOT an issue that people were concerned about during the past election.  Since the Dems can't improve upon the mostly successful Trump presidency, they taken up the mantel of gun control and they're trying to MAKE it an issue.

I was born in 1966 -

But I heard stories about the times changing from the 40's to the 50's to the 60's, then alive during the 70's

I recall my grandfather saying sometimes they felt that "dark times" were upon them in the 60's....yet they lived through the depression and WW2

We are all still here - Dark Times were WW2....

I think ya'll are being a little melodramatic - just a bit....

Oh really? You're telling me there has been no erosion of 2A rights since the 50's? Will they drop the hammer all at once? Probably not. If we keep letting them take our rights they won't stop until the US becomes a country with privileges granted by the government instead of rights. It will start with the 2A. I'm tired of watching this country transform into a socialist s***hole.

Well...it will be interesting to see the reaction to an AR or semi-auto ban.  Free states should just Say eff off to any of these federal laws.  It works for illegals and ICE.  Stop cooperating with the FBI and ATF.  Declare the state 2A sanctuaries.

NJ would be screwed in so much as there would be no sanctuary and all local LEOs would drag anyone who is defiant out of their home by their ankles.  There would not be a single LEO would defy orders to enforce 2A violations.  They will just say....I have to do my job. And yeah, I get the pressure they are under.  They have kids, homes and bills to pay.  It isn’t easy to walk away from your chosen profession on a whim and not have a solid plan to survive.   But it still sucks. Not all of these encounters will end well.

For our part.... we can either give up.....keep what you have and hope no one notices.......if they do notice..get arrested or lose a gun fight (the only outcome possible in that gun fight).....or ...move to a free state.  My suggestion is the last one.  I’d hate to hear about people getting new holes in them or every night being date night with Bubba.

If I recall correctly, open carry of handguns was legal here in the PRNJ until 1962.

So the situation here has gone to shit in many of our own lifetimes.

A crying shame to see the Garden State turn into the Glorious Peoples Republik right before our eyes.

As Jersey goes, so goes the Nation, I'm afraid.

Sorry - but where did I say that in my post - that there have been no erosion of 2A rights?  Go ahead read my post again, I will wait till you can cite where I said that - you inferred that and I was not talking about 2a rights at all - stick to the topic at hand stop deflecting if you want to have a conversation.

The gun control act of 68 was a turning point - but my post was not about guns.

You are all ringing your hands over this election.  Just as the left had rung their hands in 2016.

Until you embrace the concept, that the entire political intelligentsia is corrupt, yes Trump as well - you are just the flip side of the same coin.

Yes this country needs an awakening of a gov of the people, FOR the people, BY the people.......not political hacks of the left and right that care NOTHING about you, the citizen.

Should Pelosi be in office at her age?  Mconnel? Feinstein? Trump? *ALL HACKS* seeking to line their pockets with CASH on your hard work.

Tell me - why are they - the 'ELITE" getting first crack at a vaccine and not the average Jane/Joe -

I'll post this again -

You said we're being melodramatic concerning the state of our government and the proposed gun control agenda of the Biden campaign and the influence of Bloomberg's money. Sitting back and doing nothing may not affect you and I, but it will certainly affect our kids and theirs.

I still think we are being Melodramatic - a tad - I did not say totally ignore it all.

This GOV moves slowly for a reason.....always has - looking back in history to the beginning - the same shit has been going on.

Are they going to ban SEMI auto weapons - they will try, they will fail.  Look to 2022...  not even 2024.

Have fail, be vigilant - dont hand ring....does no good...  ;)

It moves slowly and under normal political circumstances I wouldn't expect Dems to propose anything too draconian that will actually pass. If the R's keep the senate, the Dems will propose all sorts of ban and confiscation legislation. It keeps the base happy and both sides will use it as a cause for fundraising to fight the other side, enriching themselves along the way. If Dems take the senate they might enact lesser restrictive legislation. I don't think they'll go all in for confiscation unless they (socialists) are ready for a societal takeover. Once you slay the Golden Goose (Second Amendment) you lose that rally cry for fundraising, and that's what it's all about.

We know they're playing the long game, but at some point they'll make their move.

Bloomberg backs antigun candidates and has no problem running someone in a primary against an encumbant who isn't down with the gun control sickness, so, that's another factor as well.

My fear is they will do enough to burden the right through restrictions and costs to reduce the number of people exercising their 2A.

All politicians put themselves before their constituents. There are tons of AR/semi owners in Dem states. It would be political suicide for them to vote for a ban or mandatory buyback. Hopefully all this nonsense is just for show.

    • Your imagined use case is not the one I'm trying to solve.
    • I ordered a "Primary Arms SLx Compact 1x20 Prism Scope w/ACSS Cyclops" it's meant for ar/ak's and is excellent for mild or severe astigmatism. They also have a 3x version as well, but i just wanted a 1x for mostly cqb situations. All of these can be used with magnifiers and most have night vision options, Other options for people with eye issues are: Cyclops (Primary Arms) Vortex Spitfire 1x Swamp Fox Blade prism scope 1x Sig Bravo 5 (a little more pricey than the others)
    • Keep the pistol grip.  You don't need anything at the muzzle.
    • My apologies for the long post.  Hi everyone, it’s great to join you in this community as I venture into building my first AR here in Jersey. I’ve had many questions satisfied along the way, but one keeps me running in circles. Hopefully some of you can shed some light on this topic... For reference once again, here’s the law on what constitutes an assault rifle in NJ: A semi-automatic rifle that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least two of the following: (1) A folding or telescoping stock; (2) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon; (3) A bayonet mount; (4) A flash suppressor or threaded barrel designed to accommodate a flash suppressor; and (5) A grenade launcher; Here’s my situation: Before our rifles with detachable magazines can be considered illegal, we are allowed 1 of these 5 features. All these features are listed together and are of equal legality as long as ONLY ONE is present on the rifle. With this in mind, I am working on an 18” precision build which I intend to use primarily at both, outdoor Pennsylvania ranges and indoor NJ ranges. I’d need to switch from a comp/brake to a linear comp when shooting indoors in NJ, so permanently affixing a muzzle device on my barrel wouldn’t be the best option. My buddy in PA would have a pistol grip I can install out there, this way I am not in possession of, nor travel with parts to create an assault weapon within NJ - keeping all within the law.  So naturally, the question here is - keeping the threaded muzzle as the one legally present feature on my rifle, what can I install in the pistol grip portion of the rifle that would not be considered a pistol grip according to NJ law? The law defines a pistol grip as “a well defined handle, similar to that found on a handgun, that protrudes conspicuously below the action of the weapon, and which permits the firearm to be held and fired with one hand.” The one idea I have is to install a Sparrow Dynamics grip along with a Magpul fixed stock which makes it impossible to grasp with one hand - pictured below is the stock with the adapter for a sling plate, I’d keep the straight adapter on instead (see image w red arrow) which does not allow a notch for the possible slip of a thumb around the grip.  And yes, I am willing to sacrifice my shooting comfort in NJ to enjoy real freedom in PA.  Please let your wisdom and opinions rip fellas, and thank you in advance. God bless.
