LER/EER riflescope's

Recommended Posts

Can anyone recommend from experience an LER/EER scope they've used with success?

I'm looking for a low-powered 'scope that I'll be mounting "scout style" on a shotgun. Fixed-power is my preference, 2X or 2.5X would be ideal. These models seem few and far between today, and some makers have thrown an "IER" (intermediate eye relief) model in the mix as well. Leupold or Burris would be my preference.

Something like this Burris would be ideal, just can't seem to find it anywhere in stock:

Leupold modified their design over the years, this is the only fixed power they offer now:

Just curious if anyone has any experience with either model.

Thanks

I have a Leupold fixed 2.5 power scout scope on my Ruger Gunsite  Scout rifle, a Leupold 1.5-4 variable scout scope on my Steyr Scout rifle, and a Vortex 2-7 scout scope on my M1A Scout. I really like the EER setup and shoot it really well. It is very fast for target acquisition and also very accurate. I like the both eyes open shooting with the increased light gathering and magnification of the scopes.  It doesn't take much to get used to and feels very natural to me. Almost feels like shooting with my younger eyes.

Leupold does have a variable 1.5-4 power scout scope. It is very reasonably priced and the quality is excellent. It is the VX-Freedom Scout 1.5-4x2.

Thanks for the input.

I'll test the waters with a 2X EER scope I dug up. If I like it, I may take the plunge for a real scope. I thought it was funky at first but it doesn't look so bad when mounted and with the low power I can keep both eyes open.

Originally this shotgun wore the two-piece cantilever mount but I removed the rear piece that hung over the receiver. With the scope mounted forward the shotgun feels trimmer and loses some weight as well.
