I am a member of the CMP but other than a few rifles up for auction from time to time, I don't see how I can buy a Garand from them.

I have been on CMP forum for about 20 years now. Retired and see the postings WTS & WTB. If I am looking I post a WTB. usually something comes around. I used to get my 12 M1s house delivered back before NJ required FFL delivery in 2011 or 12. That H&R I just posted is a mixer from CMP . Rarely to get something really collectible from CMP anymore. I do have a pair of Navy conversions to 7.62 coming is in a couple weeks.

I guess that's the best place to go if we're looking for a Garand?  Been thinking of getting one in 7.62x51 but most of the ones I see are way up there in price.

There was just a few B/Rs for sale. one Navy was 900 + ride. other was 1200 plus ride. That is just barrelled receiver and CMP Navy papers. There were 3 barrel makers on these, AMF, SA & H&R. SA & H&R were the better ones. AMF was a rarity. There are a few 7.62X51s floating around, lots of Berettas also. Around 2K for those. Navy garands complete around 2K also.
