Shocker 150 Posted April 29, 2021 I saw a video on the making of that gun and I still don’t know why they used threads rather than locking lugs on the closure cap

124gr9mm 859 Posted April 29, 2021 I just saw that posted on another forum. HOLY CRAP!!! I enjoy watching his videos so I'm glad his father was there that day to help save his life. I like the idea of the SERBU as a low-cost alternative to other 50BMG's out there, but I'm not sure how comfortable I'd be running "hot" rounds or rounds of unknown origin/stability through one. Reloading my own ammo gave me an appreciation for how big of a difference a few grains of powder can make to a rifle round, and the biggest caliber I load is .308!!!! Hope he makes as full a recovery as possible and continues his channel.
DirtyDigz 1,811 Posted April 29, 2021 Note to self - if I ever get a .50 BMG rifle, do *NOT* play around with surplus specialty rounds. (Said while looking at the linked belt "sampler" of .50 BMG specialty rounds that sits on my safe...)

silverado427 10,679 Posted April 29, 2021 Did you guys see the scar going across his neck down to his chest.

Yup - piece of the rifle nicked his jugular vein and pierced his lung. That round turned his rifle into shrapnel.

A hot reload (loaded to 100% and likely seated too deep) exploded the slide at the range. Luckily the shrapnel just grazed his hand.
