1LtCAP 4,262 Posted May 22, 2021 ok. i generally leave my driveway gate open. mostly because i'm lazy, and don't want to get out of my car to close it, or to open it to pull in. i'm to the point where i want it closed now. but i'm still lazy. the fence is just your standard chainlink fence, and so are the gates. i think the gateway's 16'wide total with 2 8' swing open gates. they probably weigh less than 50 lbs each. i'm looking for an automatic opener. either one that would sense the remote in thecar and open on its own, or one that would open by my hitting the remote. when i google it, i find tons of openers that would fit the bill. if i were rich and had a giant fence with giant gates. does anyone know of any place local that sells automatic openers for us poor folk with cheap ass chainlink fences? i don't need installation, as i'm fairly confident i can handle that myself. i just need to find something reasonable. Displaced Texan 11,731 Posted May 22, 2021 I think I’ve seen some at Tractor Supply, and even Lowe’s
Tunaman 548 Posted May 22, 2021 I installed a few made by Liftmaster. The hardest part is getting the electrical to both sides. I had to go under the driveway twice.
Regular Guy 264 Posted May 23, 2021 Some of the places that install / service residential and commercial overhead doors also do gates.

Tunaman 548 Posted May 24, 2021 If you are a mechanic, you can easily install one of these. Like I said the hardest part is getting the power to both sides. It is not hard.
