Sniper 6,372 Posted July 17, 2021 A general strike (or mass strike) across the U.S. is planned for Oct. 15. It may involve a substantial proportion of the total labor force across metro areas, towns, and rural communities that could bring the economy to a standstill. Organizers of the general strike call themselves "National General Strike Day" and appear to be a movement that may involve workers in many workplaces and or unions. Not much is clear about "National General Strike Day," except their top 5 following on Twitter is the "Party for Socialism and Liberation," "Socialist Rifle Association," "AFL-CIO," "United Steelworkers," and "UAW." They do blame "capitalism in decline" for why they're striking.

Right now, that number is around 14 million, many on the special pandemic relief programs. There was a survey a few days ago, and the number one reason people weren't going back to work? They were enjoying their FREE Biden bucks!
WP22 1,558 Posted July 18, 2021 I almost fell over when I found out how much the newly hired gopher is making. And from what I was told, they refused the first offer which was substancially higher then what they were making. Damn. Don't y'all be surprised everything you buy costs a lot more today than it did six months ago. And it will be a long time before it gets better. Once the sugar daddy tuns on the spigot , it's very hard to turn it off.

I would assume that in 2020 especially, that the states with democrat governors that had shutdown fever and destroyed a lot of business, have higher unemployment numbers than those that didn't. I was in Mississippi and Tennessee in summer 2020. I had to have a mask but those states were fully open. There were some limitations on the number of customers, but I was able to go into every store and restaurant I wanted.

Somewhat, their unemployment rates have dropped some, but many have learned to sit home, even on basic unemployment. Remember, many haven't paid their rent or mortgage for over a year, so they have plenty of spare coin to spend on Door Dash.

The so called delta variant is reportedly on the prowl. go for it. it'll keep the dipshit boss at my wife's company from trying to force people back into the office full time. she's proven she's no less effective working from home, her/our work/life balance is dramatically improved, and frankly we've saved an astonishing amount of $$$. We're happier, we're healthier (biking like crazy), and we're actually enjoying each other's company more. her commute, quite frankly, was approaching grounds for divorce. With some states now offering moving incentives, we're looking hard at getting out of NJ anyways. funny part is, she's been talking to recruiters, and they asked her if a lack of WFH was deal breaker or not. They're saying companies are wanting people come back in. Apparently they're reading the wrong tea leaves, as the Great Resignation is currently going on. The gopher received $10 billion last summer as part of a COVID relief package. He spent 5 billion on driver's licenses and college education for illegals. He still has 5 billion left. I don't know what he will end up spending it on, but it will be spent by September trying to "buy" people's vote in some shape, way, or form.
