rrosin 0 Posted September 9, 2021 I recently applied for my FID and the police department says that due to a state regulation, I must provide a doctors note saying that I can safely posses a firearm. They said this is because of an incident when I was 13 years old, and I told a fellow student "shut up or I'll shoot you". The problem is that I recently switched doctors and my new doctor says she wont write the note because she met me last week, although I think there may be more at play here because she made some comments like "what in the world would you need a gun for" and "you could be an axe murderer for all I know" (Then why would I need a gun? lol) Does anyone know of a doctor who would be willing to do a one-time appointment, meet me, and write the note? 1LtCAP 4,262 Posted September 9, 2021 i thought they weren't allowed to look at anything previous to 18th birthday?
njJoniGuy 2,131 Posted September 9, 2021 Good luck finding a doc who will vouch for you after only 1 visit. I have a feeling you're going to need someone like Dr. Gianni Pirelli in Verona 973-944-0810 Just now, 1LtCAP said: i thought they weren't allowed to look at anything previous to 18th birthday? The way the PRNJ works, if you kicked your mother in-utero, they'd use it as a way to deny your 2A rights!

I reached out to him. He wants 3K for an evaluation. I'm going to just withdraw my application and if i ever move to a different township, Ill reapply there - they wont have this incident on record. 7 minutes ago, 1LtCAP said: i thought they weren't allowed to look at anything previous to 18th birthday? Don't be so sure another town won't have access to that info. I would give attorney Frank Pisano a call and get his opinion before proceeding.

Withdrawal of a firearms application after trouble arises in the investigation COULD be interpreted as a denial...and so filing another application in a different town and checking off you've never been "denied" a permit COULD be interpreted as a false filing, which is an OFFENSE all by itself. I'd consult a firearms attorney on how to proceed. As a member of ANJRPC I can do so for FREE, and it costs me $40 per year to have a legal opinion from a firearms attorney. I think Frank Pisano is on ANJRPC's list? Oh, and I get a quarterly magazine sent to the house with a bunch of nifty info. Private Club's from all over the state of NJ contact info, places to shoot, leagues to get involved in, swap meets, etc. The Coalition of New Jersey Firearm Owners has an ad in every edition.
