Just got a new M&P 2.0 and the mags are tough!

Hey all,

I’m a brand new gun owner and I just bought my first M&P 2.0 9mm.  Is it normal for the magazines to be stuck/stiff?  I mean like really stiff as in I can’t even load a full magazine I only got 9 rounds in and I tried for what seems like an hour.  Any tips of getting those magazines to loosen up?

Are they 10 rounds from S&W or were they altered to hold 10 rounds?

10 round standard they are not pinned.

I have an M&P Core in 9mm when we were allowed 15rds i hard a hard time with 15 so i took the mag apart and clipped a little bit of the bottom of the spring and it worked fine , i bought 7 10rd mags 5 were fine 2 are hard to get 10 in the mag i may do the same on them as well.

Another reason I like my S&W SD9 Academy version. 

Mags are high quality polished SS and hold 10rds no problem.

The springs will lose some of their tension after being worked a few times. When you get your uplula, squeeze in that 10th round and let the mag sit for a week or two. It will get easier.

There is also a bit of a knack to loading mags. I can typically fill new ones by hand, but I have been doing it for close to 30 years.

I always liked the fact some of my Beretta handguns came with a "speed loader". 

I use it across all my firearms, it will be money well spent when you can enjoy shooting without sore thumbs.
