How do you pack your long gun(s) to the range?

So far I used a multi-compartment backpack for my handgun but wonder what people do for long guns.

That looks like excellent protection, though for local range trips I just use soft cases.  If you ever travel by air with the guns, that hard case looks like an great choice.

That would work and in my opinion is more than necessary. I use the fabric zippered cases. Much cheaper, much lighter weight and take up less space. Especially considering how many I need for various rifles and shotguns. I'd consider a hard case if I felt the need to lock them up, but since they are never out of my sight, I do not see the need. Or if I had several thousand dollars invested into the rifle.

Hard cases for air travel or if I am staying at a hotel and want to use the hard case as an improvised safes otherwise they are unnecessarily bulky and heavy.

Local range trips I have soft cases. I have used tons of different ones. My current favorites are:

It is perfectly legal to use allen gun socks. I do.

I use gun socks for iron sights guns. My scoped rifles mostly live in hard cases.

Thanks for the input guys! I have a soft zippered bag that fits my shotgun, so I guess that works as is too.

Which isn't exactly small but seems more practical than the case. Can hold a couple rifles and handguns, with separate compartments for ammo so everything can go in one bag. Granted, my collection doesn't really justify it yet but I'm in a buying mood

 Savior Equipment American Classic Tactical Double Long Rifle bag and it is great. I own one. My hand guns stay in the hard cases. and a small range bag for ammo, eyes and ears, extra mags, and tools

i put mine in easy to carry soft cases when going to/from the range. ALL equipment that has anything at all to do with firearms is covered and fully outta sight.
