Happy and Sad at the Same Time.

Recommended Posts

Hello all from Florida. Not so warm and sunny today (it's 55˚F this morning but could get up to the 70s).

Anyway, the sad part:  Although I will hold onto a little hope that Jack Ciattarelli might just be able to pull it off and outlast Murphy, it's not looking real good right now.

The happy part:   I'm so happy to see Steve Sweeney GONE!    And I'm also happy as to how it happened.  God bless Edward Durr!  I hope more heads roll in the NJ legislature.

We are having similar issues, here in FL.  We have a bunch of RINOs in the legislature.   We are working to get them on "permanent vacation."  They allowed "Red Flag" laws to happen, here. We stand almost no chance to get "Constitutional Carry" passed here. In fact, many don't even want it passed because they know that the legislature will demand reparations for it, Currently, posted "no gun"  signs do not have the force of law, as they do in Texas (30.06 & 30.07).  If Constitutional Carry were to be passed, expect that to change,  The signs will, magically, acquire the "force of law."  Remember what we're dealing with in FL that no other state has.  We have "The Rodent,"  and the FRF (Florida Retail Federation)...  both rabidly anti-gun.  Hence, the number of RINOs in the legislature.  We have to work to get them out, just as y'all got rid of Sweeney.

Congrats on that!

“We have to work to get them out, just as y'all got rid of Sweeney.”

Let’s not get too excited over this. Remember at one time the NRA endorsed Sweeney; that’s how bad things were. And it was Sweeney who had the final say in what crossed Murphy’s desk.

Word has it Nicholas Scutari will be the next Senate president. He was a sponsor of the ghost gun bill here, and also wanted .50 cal. guns banned when Christie was Gov.

How does the future look now?

Our little term of endearment for the "Walt Disney Organization."     Also known as "The Mouse,"  "The Rat,"  etc. etc.  I use "The Rodent" as an "in between."  "The Rat" being a bit too harsh, and "The Mouse" being a bit too easy.  Most people down here use "The Mouse."

Gotcha. Yea we've been a bit disappointed in their SJW flag waving lately.

For us, it's more an issue of them prohibiting CCW in the park, and using scanners/magnetometers to prevent people from doing so. They won't even allow people to have them in the parking lot, although that may very well violate the law.  They don't care.   That, of course, combined with their generally anti-gun position and their trying to buy all the RINOs in the FL legislature they can.

Never been.... Never going.

Sure it does.

Can you carry in "Joisey" NO!!

Can you carry in Florida? Yes!!

Moving works real good, ask my in-laws!

Not if too many liberals from NJ move down here and want to set up socialism, etc. etc. etc.   And, trust me, there are enough FL legislators (many of the directly from NY/NJ) that would love to see that happen.... along with "The Rodent,"  FRF, etc. etc.....

Most of my family has either a condo or a house in FL.  They keep telling me "You need to get a place in FL, it's sooo great".  They believe FL is a conservative bastion with a low tax burden.  Well, with all the NJ and NY libtards moving there, it's changing to purple soon, and in as little as 10 years or so, a sad sad blue.

It's funny how libtards all hawk sustainability, all the while migrating from shit holes they created to conservative areas that are well managed.  The low taxes attract them, then they f'ing take over and raise taxes.

I'm happy and hopeful for you and Florida. Let's just say I like DeSantis a whole lot more than knucklehead. And by the way, Sweeney says he just 'found' 12,000 missing ballots from one county alone.

So do we (like DeSantis).  And you can't have him until 2028. He needs to finish both of his terms as FL Gov.

I disagree and believe FL is turning redder every day. Guess what just happened this month- new R voter registration just surpassed the Ds for the first time https://www.tampabay.com/news/florida-politics/2021/11/05/republicans-make-florida-history-pass-democrats-in-voter-registrations/. Check out DeSantis' NJ remark lol.  Back in 2008 Ds outnumbered Rs by 700,000 but been trending R ever since. Also FL had all D govs since forever in the past but the last 20+ yrs all R. Not to mention the state legislation favors Rs over Ds 2-1. Trump took FL in '16 & '20. I'm  not saying it's a conservative bastion but it's heading in the right direction by my standards. In fact it may even becoming a sort of sanctuary state for a population seeking some sanity in their lives vs say, NJ. Its not a perfect state but it is one of the better run ones, our gov is awesome compared to most.

The only thing is, the "Rs" we have are mostly RINOs.   Not willing to fight for pro-2A, less govt., etc.etc.

Like this guy? https://theconservativetreehouse.com/blog/2021/11/07/senator-rick-scott-says-he-will-support-lisa-murkowski-reelection-and-hopes-to-work-with-democrats-in-a-republican-majority-senate/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=senator-rick-scott-says-he-will-support-lisa-murkowski-reelection-and-hopes-to-work-with-democrats-in-a-republican-majority-senate. Rinos and lobbying are issues everywhere, like I said FL not perfect but where is. However it all starts at the voting booth and at least that's tracking in the right direction. Having said that we still can't assume and must remain vigilant.

Be careful what you wish for. For the sake of 2A in NJ we need to hope Sweeney really did find votes. You think whoever takes over Senate President will table Murphy's gun control agenda? Only other hope is SCOTUS NY ruling is so broad that it strikes down almost all firearms laws because shall not be infringed means just that.

Good now he can concede his carry permit too! :p It would be only fair! Ed Durr was denied a carry permit in New Jersey and his denial was the main reason he ran against good ol' Sweeney. If there is any justice in NJ Sweeney would have his carry permit taken from him in a public ceremony, ahh that's a ticket i would gladly pay for.

While it was nice to see a few seats flip R... there may be some unintended consequences.

Who will the new senate president be? Sweeney definitely sucked, but he also blocked some gun control legislation... I highly doubt the next would be so...kind.

they would love to fast track some garbage legislation. I hope they're going to sit tight and see what comes out of the NY Scotus case. Do they have enough of a majority in the State Senate and Assembly to override a governor's veto? Still hoping Jack pulls it out.

Morons that voted for someone with zero experience to replace the one person that was able to stop Murphy, and has consistently stopped Murphy. Only hope now is SCOTUS decision on NY Case is so broad and monumental that it basically makes all laws that restrict the ownership of firearms unconstitutional as the Constitution states shall not be infringed,

Sweeney didn’t like Murphy. He also had the ability to pick and choose what crossed his desk to be signed. If you want to believe that some truck driver came out of nowhere and stole his seat that’s okay.

If someone like Scutari assumes Sweeney’s role, things may not go well. He’s sponsored a lot of anti-gun legislation that never saw light. Let’s see what happens now.

Have things been getting better for gun owners in NJ? The answer is no. Do we have any more risk than before? Maybe, but Sweeny wasn't our friend. He would sell every one of us down the river for something he wanted.
