MartyZ 692 Posted December 13, 2021 So I'm starting to reload .44 mag, getting the dies and shell plate in my cart ready to order, brass, powder, primers on hand. I go to search for the pills, and I'm seeing .429, .430, .431, etc... diameters bullets. WTF? I currently reload .45, 9mm, .223, .308 and never had to worry about choosing from multiple diameters for any single caliber. I want to load jacketed or plated bullets only, no lead. And I'm reloading for a 7.5 inch PC 629, and a Henry big boy, and I want to use the same ammo for both. So which diameter bullet do I need?
njJoniGuy 2,131 Posted December 13, 2021 The Hodgdon site says .430 cast and .429 jacketed for .44mag But it's NOT a caliber I reload. https://hodgdonreloading.com/reloading-data-center?rdc=true&type=53
JohnnyB 4,322 Posted December 13, 2021 I have reloaded for .44 mag for my Ruger Super Redhawk and only used jacketed at .429 but the difference in so damn small that I highly doubt it would matter much!
Greydaddy 2 Posted December 17, 2021 .429 jacketed, .430 lead!
