M14 Impressive!!

Recommended Posts

Excellence at its best with the Old Guard. I believe that is one of the first female sentinels entered into the guard.
If you have never seen it in person, try to do so. It will leave an ever-lasting impression in your heart.

Point of order - That’s a US Rifle Cal .30 M1, sometimes referred to as a “Garand”, not an M14 <- THIS IS INCORRECT AS PARKER DEMONSTRATED BELOW IT IS IN FACT AN M14.

The changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier should be witnessed live by every American.

And check out the pistol that the Staff Sergeant is wearing:

The rifle depicted in the attached video is an M14. (A very nice one at that too.) The lack of forward handguard, an exposed gas block for piston, weep hole in stock under the piston, charging guide for stripper clips on top of the receiver, empty magazine well, visible magazine catch and flash hider are dead giveaways that make it an M14 and not an M1.

How often do they do that? When's the best time to go?

Done all year. Best times in spring and summer. Not sure of the time. Probably hourly. Google a loud person at Arlington. Absolute silence!

When the cemetery is open, every hour during the cold half of the year and every 30 minutes during the warm half.  During the hours that the cemetery is closed, the guard is changed every two hours.
