Taking my ill wife to temple in Philly for a 1-2 day cardiac procedure. I have fla ccw permit and she does too. Given all the car jackings would you bring a handgun?

No - not unless you have a valid PA CCW.  Out of state non-resident CCW are not recognized in PA.

Exception 11 of PA 6106 does allow you transport a firearm in your car with a valid permit from any state, but only that.  Open carry in Philadelphia requires a Pennsylvania license to carry.

In that statute what is the exact meaning of the word 'transport'?

Loaded and somewhere in the passenger compartment, or unloaded and secured outside the driver's compartment? (Typically, in the trunk.)

It's actually "carry" that's used, not "transport."  My mistake ilwith using the New Jersey "exception" terminology.

Much appreciated.  Not sure it is worth all the hassles and risk of having firearm stolen from car when visiting in the hospital.  Wish we had better hospitals in NJ.

I had a great experience at Morristown Medical.  RWJ Somerset took great care of me too.

No, was for a GI issue.  I'm sure Tufts is a great hospital for heart surgeries.

I practiced at NYC's Lenox Hill and Mt. Sinai... both are great.  Did a GI training at Temple and their care was amazing.  The Cardiac care at Temple is just as good if not better.

TEMPLE'S a bad area. i've got a customer whos car was broken into 3 or 4 times. don't leave a gun in your car there.
