that's fine. then they need to raise the age for joining the military to 21. the age to vote? 21. get a drivers license? 21. sign up to be a cop?21.

I'd add:

  1. You can't consent to getting a vaccine without your parents approval (14 in places like CA I think).
  2. You can't say you have the wrong parts and have it hidden from your parents or be allowed to undergo transition (also under 18).
  3. Or any medical procedure for that matter.

It's amazing how intelligent or dumb the left finds children when it suits their agenda.

No voting, drinking, smoking, driving, entering contracts, military enlistment, medical procedure, credit card, or parental emancipation until 23.

Hell, a lot of these kids live at home until they are 25 anyways..

then they shouldn't be allowed to vote till hey're out on their own and got some skin in the game.

There you go trying to be logical! You know that doesn’t work in our society!

I don't know that the death penalty would even work. It seems there's a weird psychology to these mass killers in that they follow a similar pattern to people who commit suicide. In other words, they often PLAN to die as part of the attack... they're killing themselves, but also trying to take a bunch of others with them (in some twisted attempt at going out in a blaze of glory, I guess?). What can you do with sickness like that? I don't think a death penalty would phase most of these people in the slightest. Harden schools, train staff repeatedly to follow the security policies, and have MUCH better, faster intervention when these guys are poppng up on the radar screen at school, at home, etc. - and of course, for those that go on to kill, deprive them of their fame (infamy really) with greatly altered/subdued reporting therefore cutting down on copycats - I think those are the most sensible approaches.

That said, some tiny percentage of psychopathic murderous individuals will ALWAYS be a part of society (always have been and always will be). You can't will it or wish it away entirely. And if you remove one tool from them, they'll move to another. To this day, the worst U.S. mass school killing remains the Bath School Massacre - look it up - been almost a hundred years old now and no guns were used. Determined madmen will find a way. Likewise, Australia has had plenty of mass murders since their gun ban - they just used arson and burned people to death. That's still HORRIFYING! (I don't even kill ladybugs, so this is something I can't even wrap my brain around). But, there's always going to be a few sick outliers like this.

Some people propose raising the age at which young people can buy guns. I don't know about that. You have to ask yourself, are kids today so much less mature than in the 1950's? So much less responsible? And if so, why? And should we be allowed to draft them in that case? Or, let them get abortions? Or, let them take hormone blockers, etc? It opens up a whole can of worms that no one seems to want to deal with seriously.

Outstanding points if the problem attempting to be solved were mass murders. But leftists aren’t trying to solve that problem.  The problem they are trying to solve is how to neuter the public and have them become docile and powerless.  They want the guns to go away.  Exposing their motive would be potentially helpful if the media wasn’t corrupt and working with socialists and leftists. Hell..they ARE socialists and leftists.  All they want is a seat at the table and a share of the pie for themselves and those in their circle.  They all want what the Biden and Clinton Klans have been getting for themselves for decades.  The wealth is out there for the taking if they can get control of everything.  Thats what they want. Our guns are just another risk they want to eliminate.  They could not care less about dead kids.

Honestly, more "kids" these days are much less mature at 18 than in the past, have zero coping skills, and blame others for their own self inflicted problems.

The only reason I see raising the age to 21 to buy a gun is because.... track records.

At 18 years old, on your birthday you can buy a gun... even if you have mental health issues documented, criminal convictions etc... because that information is typically sealed and not accessible.

2 options exist, don't seal juvenile records... not sure why we do that anywaysince expungements exist.

I know someone who had an armed robbery conviction expunged within 6 years of getting out of prison...fkin insane.. in NJ of all places.

OR raise the age so there is enough time for the individual to screw up before they can purchase a firearm.

Does any of this solve the real gun violence in the country? No. We know that these media focused shootings are a drop in the bucket compared to the daily and weekly murders in cities.

Agreed, though generally speaking I think pushing more limits of this sort up to 21 (or beyond) will only push back when people become responsible and reinforces undesirable behavior.

on the surface, the 21 thing seems reasonable. but if we dig deeper, it's not solving the actual problem. it's basically putting a bandaid on a bleeding artery.

what we need to do is to figure out(most of us normal people know for the most part) why kids are so irresponsible at 18 these days. not all of em....but a majority of em.

could it be parents trying to be kids best friends, instead of parents? could it be parents thinking "i never had XXX so i will never say no to my kid and they'll have whatever they want"? could it be the indoctrination going on in our schools, and on our tv's? could it be the over-medication of our kids when they don't act what's considered normal?

of late, i've also read 2 articles, and heard one video where they are going back to the wording of the 2nd. in the video, they're trying to say that till heller, the 2nd didn't mean a right for the individual. they're gonna play that game again.

Aaaannnnnnndddd We're Off! Starting with microstamping. So, no new handguns for police in NYS, right?

'This is a moment of reckoning,' NY governor signs 10 new gun laws (fox5ny.com)

Is it clear if that ban on sale of non-microstamped guns applies already? From the bill I gathered that there's setting up to examine the "viability" but I'm not clear on when it actually comes to force.

So far, yes.

Note: That's according to which story you read. Hochul's statement was unequivocal, but some stories now refer to the microstamping bill as "set to pass". As usual with gun control, nothing is clear.
