Holster Recomendations

Can you let me know if you get one of these for that gun? I bought a trex arms sidecar for the same pistol but I print the handle depending on what I'm wearing.

Will do. It looks great from the webpage. The only thing holding me back at present is that the model doesn't say "SK" so I sent them an email for clarification. It would make sense that since the SK is shorter than the full-size it would also fit but that means there''s extra inch and change of overall length that I am not sure I want to deal with given the appendix position.

These are my first holsters, so I don't know much, but the fit of the Dale Fricke holster seems exceptional. Now I need to figure out how to make these fit and look half reasonable. I'm slight and short and want to carry tucked in, my pants bulge forward 2'' in the front. The holster design makes it that the bulge is wider than the holster itself, but it still looks weird. Not hey, I'm carrying a gun, just weird.

Question for the experts here. In lieu of experts I'll take whatever opinions I can get. :D For AIWB rigs, there are two basic ways to attach the belt clips:

  1. On the surface that covers the slide (example: https://www.vedderholsters.com/h-k-vp9sk-iwb-holster-lighttuck/)
  2. On the surface that covers the trigger (example: https://tulster.com/h-k-vp9sk-oath-iwb-holster/)

Anyone have a preference here, and if so, why?

Thanks!

I would recommend HAWG Holsters.

Small business out of Arizona that makes custom kydex holsters.

I have 2 of his holsters and I love them

Amazing retention, perfectly formed to gun, and utilizing the best clip you can get to attach to either a belt or your pants. (No belt necessary)

I have a kore belt which works great, even when the holster is attached to my pants and not the belt.

After hours and hours of scouring the internet, I found Hawg, and I'm glad I did.

i have that tulster for my g19. haven't carried it much though. yet. i've ordered the vedder holster also for the g19, but it'll accept my wml.

the tulster is advertised as being tuckable. meaning that you can tuck your shirt in and still have the pistol hidden by your shirt. the vedder you can't do that.

Ah, yes, the tuck factor! Looking at it again this makes perfect sense with the design. I ended up going with a Vedder as well and found some wedges from another site just for the heck of it.

New video from Carry Trainer with some holster and belt recommendations.

Great discussion on how to setup for carry:

Anyone have any experience with the Vedder belt he is referencing in this video? I think it's the V3 Gun Belt

Is that the Kore belt? How do you like it so far?

It is. It looks great, and the ratcheting mechanism feels quite sturdy. The belt itself is not nearly as stiff as I imagined a gun belt to be, honestly it seems pretty similar to some standard belts I have had in the past. Not sure if that’s a problem or just an observation. It will definitely be comfortable, time will tell if it will sag. It does seem fairly stiff top to bottom.

ok. got a vedder belt......this one.

https://www.vedderholsters.com/polymer-core-leather-gun-belt/

very nice belt i really like it. sizing's off a bit though. their sizing calculator said i should order a 40. bigfoot guns said the same. so i'm sitting here wearing it now, with the 92 tucked in. it's comfortable. but.....i'm on the last hole too. by last, i mean i've brought the belt to its smallest. if i trim off any of this flab(like i'm trying to do) then it'll be too big. the other problem i may be running in to.......i might hafta wear it backwards cause i can't fit the excess under the clip on the holster, and there's no belt loops to snag it.... overall though i like it. might call em on monday to see if it's exchangeable for size.....

I'm still trying to get used to appendix carry, and still having issue with comfort even with another new holster, this one from T1C. What I noticed was the most comfortable position for me was at exactly 12 oclock. But now I have a question for those who carry at 12 oclock, It might be a stupid question but a practical one. How do you use a urinal in a public bathroom???

Use a stall instead (carefully)?

I use kydex 2 clip appendix pistol/single&double mag holsters similar to the t1c & Trex side car gen1 at 12oclock… depending on the pants I have on some have longer zippers than others… longer zippers no issues shorter zippers I’ll  unclip on the aproach after walking through the door, the left clip and rotate it out of the way… and reset after business is done … if it’s a trough style or no screens and concerned about other looking at your movements.. as suggested the stall is a safe bet to do whatever you need

i shoot left handed. i carry at basically 11:30. just to the left of the zipper. obviously since i haven't gotten my ccw yet, i only carry at work and home.  i generally unholster, take care of business, then re-holster. i've got a table in the shops bathroom to lay the pistol on though.

Check out AIM Surplus has the Bravo Concealment Torsion 3.0 for 29.95.  This is a great holster.  They also have the Uncle Mikes IWB for 2.95 which is a great deal also.

The Bravo concealment is OK, but not the most comfortable.

Uncle Mikes IWB? Don't. Just don't.

Well I think the Bravo Torsion 3 is VERY comfortable.  And for 2.95 the Uncle Mikes is suede-like and also very comfortable. This is not the nylon one.  To each his own I guess...

The issue with the Uncle Mikes is two-fold but very similar reasons.

It is a soft holster so the protection for the trigger is not complete. The trigger could be pressed by exerting force on the outside of the holster.

It will also collapse when the gun is removed - especially as it is IWB so the belt is pressing it closed against the wearer's body. This makes getting the gun into the holster way less safe than a rigid holster.

Or any Fobus holster or a Blackhawk! SERPA.

At the risk of starting a holy war, I think the issue with SERPA holsters is a training issue. If you are indexing the holster as you would the pistol (i.e., straight index finger) then the problem will not happen. That said, the Safariland version avoids this possibility altogether (i.e., crooked booger hook sliding into the trigger guard during the draw and causing a bang).

@High Exposure has covered the reasons not to use the SERPA before…
