IMO, Anthony @gunforhire has setup a great webpage that has links to all the forms you need to use and he's setup time slots for people to sign up for their the Qualification - https://gunforhire.com/nj-ccw-permit/

The website lists the qualification as $150 (+ $50 for each additional gun).

Looks like a one stop shop for CCW needs.

The qualification requirements for obtaining a carry permit in New Jersey are the same as the FBI in-service qualification HQC-1 using the FBI Q type target. It is broken down into 8 segments 25 yd, 15, 10, 7, 5 and 1. In all segments you are required to draw from concealed, fire and hit the target. Positions are standing, kneeling, and ready. There is one segment where you must shoot with your "off hand" another where you must do a quick magazine reload.  Time of each segment varies from 2 to 30 seconds as fast shooting. You will fire 60 rds and be required to hit the target 48 times or more to pass the qualification test. Most ranges will NOT allow you to draw and fire a loaded gun from a  holster so this must be looked at. You can only qualify with the pistol that you intend to carry. Not easy right now as the requirements for NJ carry are identical for FBI agents and law enforcement..

That's not the qualification at GFH.  From their website:

Qualification Course:
In the range you will demonstrate familiarity of safe handling of firearms. Upon successful completion you will be given a certificate to submit with your application. All of our instructors are PTC, NRA and LE certified. Gun For Hire has been qualifying security, private carry and retired police since 1992.

This is not a beginner course! You will be required to demonstrate safety, familiarity, and accuracy. It is pass or fail.
– No holster needed
– All shooting from the ready position
– 50 rounds per firearm
– FBI Q target
– 24 rounds at 7 yards
– 14 rounds at 10 yards
– 6 rounds at 15 yards
– 6 rounds at 25 yards
For a total of 50 rounds. Must hit at least 40 rounds out of 50 (80%)

The CoF for qualifying is not specified anywhere. It appears to be up to the instructor running the qual to decide what he/she wants in order to be satisfied that you are competent and safe.

Many people are leaning towards the HQC1, HQC2 & HNQC as there is little scope for the authorities to argue with the validity as that is what RPOs qualify doing.

I would hope they set up something different for qualifying with a revolver.  24 shots at 7 yards under time constraints would be pretty difficult if you have to reload a J frame 5 times.

Call GFH. The website asks that you bring at least 3 speed loaders for revolver. That implies there's no time constraint.

IMO the FBI/Police quals being referenced are not necessary.

I wonder if hollow points will be able to be carried?   Also.  Since nj considers an air pistol a firearm.   Can you carry that if you qual with it.  Just wondering

I'll bring mine right over.  :icon_lol:

    • In 50 years of living in NJ I've never experienced any attempt to inspect the interior of the home, and only one definite inspection of the exterior for an announced reassessment of all properties and that was a drive by. About 9 years of that was living in an apartment, but still, uncommon. Every place I lived had either a finished attic, basement, or both. But they were also included in the habitable square footage on the taxes when we got there.
    • 27.00 and change in tolls to drive down the shore from Rutherford,  47.00 in tolls to go out to Long island to visit dying relatives. Now I read they are going to raise the fees in the DMV. Murphy lied just to get elected when he said that seniors will get a significant tax break with his StayNJ" program to stop us from leaving.   Keep voting for democrats...this is what you get.  Tax and spend is all they know.  Never cut anything.  This state sucks.
