Be Aware of Scammers

Many forums have been witnessing an uptick in scammers. One particular forum I visit this is literally a daily occurrence, and accounts are banned when discovered. Please be vigilant.

Just wanted everyone to be aware. Scammers are trying something different recently, and good people fall victim to it. If you post a wanted ad, they will send you a PM with a message similar to this:

"Andrew Swanson in California has for sale here is his gmail address [email protected] ,you’re welcome"

The names and email addresses change, the message may indicate what you are trying to buy, but it's a scam, so do not reply or email them. If you get a PM with this message, please use the report button on it to alert the moderators who can ban the scammer. They are relentless and will make new user names. 

Also, be aware of payment systems that dont protect the buyer when dealing with people you don't know personally. Request or demand for PayPal friends and family is a red flag, you always have the option to pay the fee to protect the purchase, there is no reason for a seller to discourage someone willing to pay the fee unless they are scamming. 

Scammers will evolve there communications, just use some common sense and due dillegence knowing how exposed we are to them. Pay attention to user join dates and post counts as well.

Pinned - yes - if someone is a new user and emails you and says to contact so and so over an email address - most likely it's a scammer.  Hit the report button if you're not sure.

The mods have been banning these accounts as quickly as possible but be vigilant...

They may be open but he's using their location as an alias 

However if you call that number no one answers - just a generic leave a message

As per another post - This user used a known scammer email address in their profile - found as a scammer on the CMP Forums - banned.

If anyone gets a suspicious DM - please use the REPORT function to report it to staff - we'll investigate as necessary.
