Scorpio64 5,147 Posted July 29, 2022 According to the original AWB, nobody in NJ owns an "assault weapon". The vote is not for banning AR pattern MSRs, they want to ban ALL semi-auto rifles. This isn't going to accomplish anything, it's just a bunch of retardocrats looking busy before the midterms. The bill has no hope of passing the Senate.

JohnnyB 4,322 Posted July 29, 2022 This bill PASSED the House today by a slim margin! Has ZERO chance in the Senate though.

Now Pelosi and her fellow retardocrats have their big win to use in political ads to try and make them look less like loosers
1LtCAP 4,262 Posted July 30, 2022 it's a ploy to ding the repubs ooorrr........since it's pretty much covering all semi-auto rifles, they;ll back off on the "all semi-auto rifles" part to get just their ar/ak ban.

They gained nothing from that vote. The dems just want to use this as a talking point......Problem is, nobody will listen at this point! They are digging their mid-term graves deeper every day! Krdshrk 3,877 Posted July 30, 2022 2nd to the top article when you search for HR 1808 https://reason.com/2022/07/29/the-dubious-and-doomed-assault-weapon-ban-that-the-house-approved-today-may-cost-democrats-this-fall/ Railroaded through - 3 Dems voted against, but 2 Republicans (NY and PA) voted for... This passed over 4 hours ago.... and still 0 mention on CNN, MSN, and other liberal news outlets. NY Times says: House Passes Assault Weapons Ban That Is Doomed in Senate Even they all know it's pure farce and has no chance of doing anything.
voyager9 3,434 Posted July 30, 2022 The fact that 2 republicans (NY and PA) voted for it is concerning. With 5 dems voting Nay those two traitors were the deciding votes. They could have sunk it in the House.

Not much they can do unless they want to give his seat to a democrat.

Did I miss any talking points? Made these a while ago, sadly still true

The way things typically work among the hypocritical scum (and that is a non-partisan insult) who pretend to represent us is based on the demographics of the next election. In this case, I read that the 5 Demoncraps who voted against were all in vulnerable districts where being seen as anti-2A could doom their chances. If the 2 Repugnicans hadn't voted "for", the 2 Demons of the 5 seen to be least vulnerable almost certainly would have been "whipped" into voting for it. More than likely, the Repug leader knew that the Demons had the needed votes (if pressed to the wall) and gave 2 vulnerable Repugs leave to vote for, for similar reasons. The way this stuff goes down is a real lesson in unprincipled, despicable depravity. I believe one of the Republicans who voted for it is retiring. His vote isn’t based on constituency or remaining in office. He’s just a spiteful asshole.
