silverado427 10,708 Posted August 7, 2022 This question is for members who have red dots on their handguns. Does the red dot effect how you rack the slide. The reason I'm asking is the mounting location is where I cup the slide to rack it. My sig only has around 2-300 rounds on it, and its stiff as a fuk to rack. High Exposure 5,664 Posted August 7, 2022 Nope. Rack away. If racking the slide negatively impacts the dot, you need to get a better dot. I have a mix of Trijicon and Holosun optics on a handful of Glocks with a lot of rounds though them. I have had no issues. 1
My1stGlock 144 Posted August 7, 2022 Don’t pull slide but push the grip? Better leverage overall?

sgtdave4321 36 Posted August 8, 2022 No problem at all racking the slide. I have a holosun 507c on a G19. No issues at all!
Redeye65 162 Posted August 8, 2022 DPP on a Walther pdp. I still rack the slide basically the same way, now the DPP is just in my hand as I rack the slide now. Actually makes it easier, with 1000 rounds through it with the rds no issues, never loosened never lost zero.
GlennS87 65 Posted August 8, 2022 I have 2 Holosun 507 and one Sig Romeo. I can rack the slide using the dot if I had to and it doesn't lose zero. One of the Holosun's is on my Sig M18 and the Sig Romeo (not pro) is on a 320 FS. The other Holosun is on my Walther PDP.
Lawnmower2021 423 Posted August 8, 2022 The optic isn't big enough to prevent me from getting the same grip on the slide. I do try to avoid smudging the glass with my fingers. The main weirdness to get used to is finding the red dot.
Persona non grata 113 Posted August 13, 2022 I have a P320 with a Romeo 1 Pro on it. No different than racking my other P320s. I should probably note that I don't "cup" the slide. I just pinch it with my thumb and index finger.
