  1. 1. What do you call the delicious cold-cut sandwich indigenous to NJ?

So if I'm visiting TX and want to save time, can I just say "I'll have a Coke-flavored Coke?"

If you’re in Texas, you should relax and enjoy the culture. Slow down a bit. Sit a spell. Y’all come back now, ya hear?

EDIT: The ONLY exception to this rule is when you order a Dr. Pepper. That is called out by name from the get-go.
Especially if you are in Dublin, Texas.

I still wish they made Dublin Dr Pepper...

I never heard a sub sandwich referred to as a ‘grinder’ until I was stationed in Groton, Ct. the submarine Capitol of the world (because of Electric Boat, the submarine base, and submarine training facility).

I'm guessing you know Norm's dinner, we haven't been to Groton in years but we use to go to Norm's dinner every visit to CT

Grinder is some dipshit nutmegger from CT definition of a SUB AND OR HERO. WTF is a hoagie?

NY born NNJ raised. Dons  sandwich shop in Boonton, we used to ride our bikes there and get a SUB. Place is still there after at least 50 years. Still serving subs to those in the know

growing up in brooklyn I used to call it a hero.  But since I made a decision to disassociate myself from everything NYC, I now call it a sub.

As a kid also grew up in Bklyn, Carroll Gardens/ Redhook, Always a hero and BTW Sprinklers.  will always associate with Bklyn, best times. It's changed but still go back to old neighborhood for memories of what's left.

It’s a Sub.

Elsie's in Red Bank and Joyce's in Lincroft made the best subs ever.  The last time I was at Elsie's, they still had the same rickety wood screen door that slams shut behind you.  That was at least 15 years ago.  Anyone who went to St. James/RBC definitely knows Elsie's.

Yes!!! Joyce’s is awesome. Their Italian Sub with LTO SPO O&V HP is killer. The turkey and provolone Sub with LTO SP cranberry sauce isn’t too shabby either.

There was a Sub shop in the main building of the Collingswood Auction that was amazing as well - not sure if it is still there or still good. God, I haven’t been there in years…

A Cheese Steak Sub is a Cheese Steak with Lettuce, tomato, onion, etc.

Nobody puts lettuce or tomato on a cheese steak. The onions better be fried.
