It looks like I'll save about a pound with a different stock, handguard, and optic. I also might just do a "pistol" build, that should be light enough. Plus, I’d rather have an extra pound or so and a more capable rifle than a lighter-weight AR pistol with a shorter barrel and associated degradation in terminal ballistics. What exactly is “light enough” in your opinion and why do you need it so light? Are you planning on carrying it for days through mountainaous terrain? Is it too heavy to bring to the range in your car? Is it too heavy to shoulder and shoot without using a bench? You reach a point of diminishing returns when shaving weight on a rifle. A very light rifle is more fatiguing to shoot fast and accurate than a slightly heavier rifle is to carry.

You bring up a lot of good points, and I think it's just a form of Male Insanity Syndrome....but with guns lol. For the uninformed: male insanity syndrome The belief that there is a more compatible or desirable woman than one's present girlfriend. It's been a while since I've shot this rifle. I'll have to get some range time behind it before making any rash decisions.

It's a bit of an advantage with an AR, though. I think Eugene was a closet lefty.

Camo shorts to blend in, safety shirt to stand out? I literally wear the same outfit on like a regular basis. My parents often get confused as my torso just floats around the house (i wear camo hats as well).
